Dust emissions during storage of non-moving bulk materials are studied with a numerical *** model relies on a contact-model-free Discrete Element Method(DEM)to model the bulk particle-fluid interaction and the dust removal coupled with Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)to model the gas and the dust phase in a multiphase ***,two storage scenarios are considered:a flown through packed bed and a flown over *** the first,the performed simulations reveal that the dust discharge can be correlated with the passing fluid pressure *** the second,a parameter study of factors influencing the dust emissions is *** parameters discussed are the stockpile size,the gas velocity,the slope angle,the particle diameter and the shape of the stockpile,taking into account conical and truncated conical *** release correlations are obtained for both scenarios,which reflect very well the obtained numerical results.

Thermal resolution(also referred to as temperature uncertainty)establishes the minimum discernible temperature change sensed by luminescent thermometers and is a key figure of merit to rank *** has been done to minimize its value via probe optimization and correction of readout artifacts,but little effort was put into a better exploitation of calibration *** this context,this work aims at providing a new perspective on the definition of luminescence-based thermometric parameters using dimensionality reduction techniques that emerged in the last *** application of linear(Principal Component Analysis)and non-linear(t-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding)transformations to the calibration datasets obtained from rare-earth nanoparticles and semiconductor nanocrystals resulted in an improvement in thermal resolution compared to the more classical intensity-based and ratiometric ***,in turn,enabled precise monitoring of temperature changes smaller than 0.1℃.The methods here presented allow choosing superior thermometric parameters compared to the more classical ones,pushing the performance of luminescent thermometers close to the experimentally achievable limits.

Research into medical artificial intelligence(AI)has made significant advances in recent years,including surgical *** scoping review investigated AI-based decision support systems targeted at the intraoperative phase of surgery and found a wide range of technological approaches applied across several surgical *** the twenty-one(n=21)included papers,three main categories of motivations were identified for developing such technologies:(1)augmenting the information available to surgeons,(2)accelerating intraoperative pathology,and(3)recommending surgical *** many of the proposals hold promise for improving patient outcomes,important methodological shortcomings were observed in most of the reviewed papers that made it difficult to assess the clinical significance of the reported performance *** limitations,the current state of this field suggests that a number of opportunities exist for future researchers and clinicians to work on AI for surgical decision support with exciting implications for improving surgical care.

In steel continuous casting(CC),the choice of the appropriate speed at which the slab is cast can be influenced by many different factors and *** the slab thickness seems to have the biggest impact,other features like the slab width have been consistently *** fact,the slab width practically limits the casting speed via the mass flow constraint which governs the input and output balance at the ***,we present a case study that aims at analyzing steel production data from the perspective of casting speed *** studying the speed fluctuations of an industrial CC machine,we identify a strategic regime change toward a stricter consideration of the mass flow *** regime change manifests itself in a significant increase in the correlation between the actual casting speed and the maximal speed associated with the mass flow *** the surface,taking greater account of the input and output balance at the tundish has reduced the productivity of the continuous caster;however,one can argue that the lessened yield is compensated by a diminished risk of eventual slab *** the perspective of this trade-off,we establish a visualization technique that enables us to pinpoint the boundary beyond which one strategic regime becomes economically more advantageous than the other.

This study was performed to investigate the feasibility of applying a Rotary Triboelectrostatic Separator（RTS） to the beneficiation of Eshidiya phosphate *** separation tests were carried out on phosphatic bed A_1,phosphatic bed A_3 and slime *** bed A_1 and slime samples were tested without *** sets of tests were performed using the A_3 sample： one was performed without desliming and the other with the A_3 sample *** separation tests as initially performed on the bed A_1 and slime samples gave products that had essentially the same P_2O_5 *** indicated that adsorbed clay particles on the phosphate surface are responsible for the poor separation of un-deslimed *** triboelectrostatic separation was observed with the undeslimed A_3 phosphate sample;these tests resulted in a highest product grade of 26%P_2O_*** deslimed A_3 sample showed far more effective separation than the undeslimed A_3 *** fact,a concentrate of 34%P_2O_5 was obtained from the triboelectrcstatic separation of deslimed A_*** results indicate that with deslimed A_3 P_2O_5 recovery was about 65%for a concentrate of 28%P_2O_5 and about 45%for a concentrate of 30%P_2O_*** results clearly show the importance of desliming for effective beneficiation of phosphate by the RTS.A more efficient separation can be expected from optimized operating conditions and circuit configuration.

Battery impedance spectrum prediction from partial charging voltage curve by machine learning

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) is an effective technique for Lithium-ion battery state of health diagnosis, and the impedance spectrum prediction by battery charging curve is expected to enable battery impedance testing during vehicle operation. However, the mechanistic relationship between charging curves and impedance spectrum remains unclear, which hinders the development as well as optimization of EIS-based prediction techniques. In this paper, we predicted the impedance spectrum by the battery charging voltage curve and optimized the input based on electrochemical mechanistic analysis and machine learning. The internal electrochemical relationships between the charging curve,incremental capacity curve, and the impedance spectrum are explored, which improves the physical interpretability for this prediction and helps define the proper partial voltage range for the input for machine learning models. Different machine learning algorithms have been adopted for the verification of the proposed framework based on the sequence-to-sequence predictions. In addition, the predictions with different partial voltage ranges, at different state of charge, and with different training data ratio are evaluated to prove the proposed method have high generalization and robustness. The experimental results show that the proper partial voltage range has high accuracy and converges to the findings of the electrochemical analysis. The predicted errors for impedance spectrum are less than 1.9 mΩ with the proper partial voltage range selected by the corelative analysis of the electrochemical reactions inside the batteries. Even with the voltage range reduced to 3.65–3.75 V, the predictions are still reliable with most RMSEs less than 4 mO.
