Analytical/Numerical Modelling of Two Parallel Robots as Laser Calibration Instruments Controlled by Classical/Intelligent Schemes

Industrial metrology deals with measurements in production environment. It concerns calibration procedures as well as control of measurement processes. Measuring devices have been evolving from manual theodolites, electronic theodolites, robotic total stations, to a relatively new kind of laser-based systems known as laser trackers. Laser trackers are 3D coordinate measuring devices that accurately measure large （and relatively distant） objects by computing spatial coordinates of optical targets held against those objects. In addition, laser trackers are used to align truthfully large mechanical parts. However, such aligning can be done in moving parts, for instance during robot calibration in a welding line. In this case, serial robots are controlled in order to keep a prescribed trajectory to accomplish its task properly. Nevertheless, in spite of a good control algorithm design, as time goes by, deviations appear and a calibration process is necessary. It is well known that laser tracker systems are produced by very well established enterprises but their laser products may result expensive for some （small） industries. We offer two parallel robot-based laser tracker systems models whose implementation would result cheaper than sophisticated laser devices and takes advantage of the parallel robot bondages as accuracy and high payload. The types of parallel robots evaluated were 3-SPS-1-S and 6-PUS. Modelling of the parallel robots was done by analytical and numerical techniques. The latter includes classical and artificial intelligence-based algorithms. The control performance was evaluated between classical and intelligent controllers.

Background:Biochemical and hematological parameters are important tools for assessing the physiological profile of vital organs,and can be recorded to create reference values used for clinical diagnosis of *** research laboratories lack the means to establish their own set of reference parameters for use in their research,and while there are articles in the literature that discuss laboratory parameters for healthy BALB/c mice,few studies address the evaluation of these parameters in pathological situations,such as in mice inoculated with Ehrlich ***:BALB/c-FMABC mice previously inoculated with Ehrlich tumor were maintained under appropriate *** samples were taken for analysis of hematological parameters using automated and semi-automated equipment to create a set of the animal welfare parameters for ***:Results were obtained for all the hematological parameters for all groups *** showed:statistically significant differences between the initial and final tumor weight;comparable initial tumour volume and weight;an increase in leukocytes in the 7-day group with a characteristic predominance of lymphocytes and neutrophils;statistically significant changes in RDW in the 21-day group and in the welfare parameters in the 28-day ***:The study successfully defined and established reference values for hematological and welfare parameters for all groups analyzed.

Evaluation of Asbestos Exposure Associated with Research Laboratories

Asbestos containing materials (ACM) have been used for decades in research laboratory products including gloves, tong sleeves, Transite board, and other materials. These materials typically contain chrysotile asbestos with concentrations ranging up to 80%. The objective of this research was to evaluate asbestos exposure from gloves, tong sleeves, and Transite board with simulated laboratory use. An environmental chamber was used to simulate laboratory application of the products. Bulk samples of various products were tested before and after use. Personal breathing zone air samples as well as one cumulative air sample were collected during testing and followed the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) 7400/7402 methodologies. Phase contrast microscopy (PCM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used for sample analyses. Analysis of air samples using PCM, showed airborne fiber concentrations as high as 0.058 f/cc during use of tongs fitted with asbestos sleeves. Further analysis using TEM showed that the highest airborne fiber concentration was 0.0036 f/cc. Manipulation of Transite board resulted in 8-hour time-weighted-average (TWA) asbestos levels as high as 0.02 f/cc. Testing of various asbestos containing materials used in research laboratories indicate low potential for asbestos fiber exposures.

The effectiveness of maltodextrin(10%)and cactus mucilage(CM)(0%,0.25%,0.50%,0.75%,and 1%)as carrier agents was evaluated in the encapsulation of bioactive amaranth *** drying,an efficient encapsulation method,achieved high yields(62.9%-68%).The increase in CM concentration significantly augmented the water absorption index(WAI),bulk density,and hygroscopicity of the encapsulated amaranth ***,it significantly decreased the moisture content,water activity,and water solubility index(WSI).The glass transition temperatures(>40℃),Hausner ratio(HR),and Carr’s index(CI)values indicated the suitability of powders for handling and ***,no cracks were observed in the microcapsules surface,which favoured the bioactive amaranth compounds retention and ***,low degradation rate constants and long half-life time values were determined for the encapsulated amaranth powders,indicative of its storage *** of 0.75%CM was an efficient concentration to achieve high percentage retention of betacyanins(55.5%),betaxanthins(58%),total polyphenols(73.3%),amaranthine(56.8%),isoamaranthine(62.7%),individual polyphenols(44.6%-81%),and antioxidant activity(79.6%).These results demonstrated the efficiency of CM as an encapsulating agent in the food industry.

Polyphenol extraction from grape wastes: Solvent and pH effect

World wine industry transforms 10% - 25% of raw grapes into residues, mainly represented by lees, grape marcs, seeds and stems. These by-products are a rich source of polyphenols and therefore they can be used to produce new added value products. The aim of this work wasto determine the best process conditions(treatment time, % of ethanol and pH of the solvent)during solid-liquid extraction of polyphenolsfrom grape marcs, by analyzing the phenolic content of the extracts, namely: total polyphenol content, flavanols, flavonols, phenolic acids and anthocyanins. Antioxidant activity of the extracts was also determined. An extraction time of two hours was enough since longer times did not increase process yields. Best extraction yields were obtained for 75% ethanol solutions. Basic pH led to better yields in extracting media with low percentage of ethanol, whereas acid pH presented better extraction yields in extracting media with high percentage of ethanol. Among all the polyphenols extracted, anthocyanins were themost abundant representing over 40% of the total. In general, the best process conditions were 2 h ofextraction in a 75% EtOH liquid mixture at pH =2.

Dielectric and Mechanical Nonlinear Behavior of Mn Doped PMN-35PT Ceramics

This paper presents an investigation on dielectric and mechanical nonlinear properties in Mn-doped PMN-35PT ceramics. The structural study of the ceramics verifies that the 1% mol Mn doped PMN-35PT is a pure perovskite phase with a tetragonal symmetry. SEM micrograph shows the same microstructural mor- phology of an undoped ceramic. From the EPR spectra, it has been concluded that the major part of Mn is present in Mn2+ rather than in Mn4+ form. The addition of Mn2+ ions acts on the dielectric, piezoelectric and mechanical properties by decreasing the relative dielectric permittivity (3800 to 2074), the dielectric losses (0.60 to 0.53), the piezoelectric coefficient d33 (650 to 403 pC/N), and increasing the mechanical quality fac- tor Qm (78 to 317). It was found that in Mn2+ doped ceramics the dielectric response can not be described by Rayleigh law. This result can be understood taking into account that reversible motion of the domain wall is a relevant contribution to response of this material.
