t.e accelerat.d expansion of t.e Universe was proposed t.rough t.e use of t.pe-Ia supernovae （SNe） as st.ndard candles. t.e st.ndardizat.on depends on an empirical correlat.on bet.een t.e st.et.h/color and peak luminosit. of t.e light.curves. t.e use of t.pe-Ia SNe as st.ndard candles rest. on t.e assumpt.on t.at.t.eir propert.es （and t.is correlat.on） do not.vary wit. redshift. We consider t.e possibilit. t.at.t.e majorit. of t.pe-Ia SNe are in fact.caused by a Quark-Nova det.nat.on in a t.ght.neut.on-st.r-CO-whit.-dwarf binary syst.m, which forms a Quark-Nova Ia （QN-Ia）. t.e spin-down energy inject.d by t.e Quark-Nova remnant.（t.e quark st.r） cont.ibut.s t. t.e post.peak light.curve and neat.y explains t.e observed correlat.on bet.een peak luminosit. and light.curve shape. We demonst.at. t.at.t.e paramet.rs describing QN-Ia are NOt.const.nt.in redshift. Simulat.d QN-Ia light.curves provide a t.st.of t.e st.et.h/color correlat.on by comparing t.e t.ue dist.nce modulus wit. t.at.det.rmined using SN light.curve fit.ers. We det.rmine a correct.on bet.een t.e t.ue and fit.ed dist.nce moduli, which when applied t. t.pe-Ia SNe in t.e Hubble diagram recovers t.e ΩM = 1 cosmology. We conclude t.at.t.pe-Ia SNe observat.ons do not.necessit.t. t.e need for an accelerat.ng expansion of t.e Universe （if t.e observed SNe Ia are dominat.d by QNe Ia） and by associat.on t.e need for dark energy.
