This article has the objective of presenting our method to develop and test a motion control system for a heavy-duty hydraulically actuated manipulator,which is part of a newly developed prototype featuring a fully-autonomous unmanned forestry *** control algorithm is based on functional analysis and differential algebra,under the concepts of a new type of approach known as model-free intelligent PID control(iPID).As it can be unsafe to test this form of control directly on real hardware,our main contribution is to introduce a framework for developing and testing control *** framework incorporates a desktop-size mockup crane equipped with comparable hardware as the real one,which we design and manufactured using *** downscaled mechatronic system allows to safely test the implementation of control software in real-time hardware directly on our desks,prior to the actual testing on the real *** results demonstrate that this development framework is useful to safely test control software for heavy-duty systems,and it helped us present the first experiments with the world’s first unmanned forestry machine capable of performing fully autonomous forestry tasks.

The selection of effective genes that accurately predict chemotherapy responses might improve cancer *** compare optimized gene signatures for cisplatin,carboplatin,and oxaliplatin responses in the same cell lines and validate each signature using data from patients with *** support vector machine learning is used to derive gene sets whose expression is related to the cell line GI 50 values by backwards feature selection with *** genes and functional pathways distinguishing sensitive from resistant cell lines are identified by contrasting signatures obtained at extreme and median GI 50 *** of gene signatures at different thresholds are combined to reduce the dependence on specific GI 50 values for predicting drug *** most accurate gene signatures for each platin are:cisplatin:BARD1,BCL2,BCL2L1,CDKN2C,FAAP24,FEN1,MAP3K1,MAPK13,MAPK3,NFKB1,NFKB2,SLC22A5,SLC31A2,TLR4,and TWIST1;carboplatin:AKT1,EIF3K,ERCC1,GNGT1,GSR,MTHFR,NEDD4L,NLRP1,NRAS,RAF1,SGK1,TIGD1,TP53,VEGFB,and VEGFC;and oxaliplatin:BRAF,FCGR2A,IGF1,MSH2,NAGK,NFE2L2,NQO1,PANK3,SLC47A1,SLCO1B1,and *** from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)patients with bladder,ovarian,and colorectal cancer were used to test the cisplatin,carboplatin,and oxaliplatin signatures,resulting in 71.0%,60.2%,and 54.5%accuracies in predicting disease recurrence and 59%,61%,and 72%accuracies in predicting remission,*** cisplatin signature predicted 100%of recurrence in non-smoking patients with bladder cancer(57%disease-free;N=19),and 79%recurrence in smokers(62%disease-free;N=35).This approach should be adaptable to other studies of chemotherapy responses,regardless of the drug or cancer types.

As the sole obligate symbiotic birds in Africa,oxpeckers offer a unique model for studying symbiotic *** to the multitrophic level they occupy and the context dependent foraging behavior they exhibit,the type of symbiotic relationship can be *** addition to providing a cleaning service to the host by removing ticks,oxpeckers frequently feed on blood,mucus,and saliva,inflicting potential damage on the ***,we used DNA metabarcoding on faecal samples to analyze the taxonomic composition of the trophic interactions of the Yellow-billed Oxpecker(Buphagus africanus)and Red-billed Oxpecker(***)in northeastern *** contrast to conventional methods,DNA metabarcoding allows for a detailed identification of dietary resources encompassing both mammal hosts and consumed arthropods within the same *** this information,we examined differences in the diet composition between oxpecker species and localities,as well as the co-occurrence between host and arthropod *** findings revealed that oxpeckers predominantly source their diet from mammals,ticks,and flies;however,ticks and flies rarely co-occur in the diet of an *** observed variability among individuals in their feeding ecology,which is strongly correlated with locality and,to a lesser extent,with the mammal *** noted a high degree of mobility between hosts within relatively short periods,with 32%of the samples showing traces of at least two mammal *** study illustrates the dynamic foraging behavior of these specialized symbiotic birds,shedding light on their potential role in pest control services and disease transmission.

Aims As an exotic species colonises a new continent,it must overcome enormous environmental variation in its introduced *** adaptation of introduced species has frequently been observed at the continent scale,particularly in response to latitudinal climatic ***,significant environmental heterogeneity can also exist at the landscape scale.A small number of studies have provided evidence that introduced species may also be capable of phenotypic and genetic differentiation at much smaller spatial *** example,previously we found US agricultural and non-agricultural populations of Sorghum halepense(Johnsongrass)to be phenotypically and genetically *** this study,we inves-tigated whether this phenotypic differentiation of agricultural and non-agricultural populations of *** is the result of fine-scale local *** We surveyed a nationally collected *** germplasm panel and also collected neighbouring agricultural and non-agricultural sub-populations of *** at four sites throughout Western Virginia,USA,raising seedlings in common conditions mimicking both agricultural and non-agricultural *** Findings At the national scale,we found evidence of habitat differentiation but not ***,at the local scale,we found evi-dence of specialisation in two of the four local populations to non-agricultural habitat,but no evidence of specialisation to agricultural *** results show that local specialisation is a possible,but not guaranteed consequence of kilometre-scale habitat heterogen-eity in invasive *** finding contributes to a growing aware-ness of the importance of fine-scale local adaptation in the ecology and management of introduced and weedy species.

By using risk-adjusted price signals to transfer responsibility for property-level flood protection and recovery from governments to property owners,flood insurance represents a key tenet of the flood risk management(FRM)*** Government of Canada has worked with insurers to introduce flood insurance for the first time as a part of a broader shift towards FRM to limit the growing costs of *** viability of flood insurance in Canada,however,has been questioned by research that disputes the utility of purchasing coverage by property *** study tested this assumption by drawing on public opinion survey data to assess factors that influence decisions about the utility of *** findings reveal that Canadians have limited knowledge of flood insurance coverage,exhibit a low willingness-to-pay for both insurance and property-level flood protection measures,and expect governments to shoulder much of the financial burden of flood recovery through disaster assistance.

As one of the most severe environmental stresses, freezing stress can determine native flora in nature and severely reduce crop production. Many mechanisms have been proposed to explain the damage induced by freezing-thawing cycle, and oxidative stress caused by uncontrollable production of harmful reactive oxygen species (ROS) are partially contributed to causing the injury. Plants in temperate regions have evolved a unique but effective metabolism of protecting themselves called cold acclimation. Cold-acclimating plants undergo a complex but orchestrated metabolic process to increase cold hardness triggered by exposure to low temperature and shortened photoperiod and achieve the maximum freezing tolerance by a concerted regulation and expression of a number of cold responsive genes. A complicated enzymatic system have been evolved in plants to scavenge the ROS to protect themselves from oxidative stress, therefore, cold-acclimating plants are expected to increase the de novo synthesis of the genes of antioxidant genes. Indeed, many antioxidant genes increase the expression levels in response to low temperature. Furthermore, the higher expression of many antioxidant enzymes are positively correlated to inducing higher tolerance levels against freezing. All the information summarized here can be applied for developing crop and horticultural plants to have more freezing tolerance for higher production with better quality. There have been extensive studies on the activities of antioxidant enzymes and the gene regulation, however, more researches will be required in near future to elucidate the most effective antioxidant enzymes to induce highest freezing tolerance in a crop plant in a transformation process or a breeding program.

Adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas: Molecular characterization of 23 patients along with a literature review

Adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas(ASCP)is a rare entity. Like adenocarcinoma of the pancreas,overall survival is poor. Characteristics of ASCP include central tumor necrosis, along with osteoclasts and hypercalcemia. Various theories exist as to why this histological subtype exists, as normal pancreas tissue has no benign squamous epithelium. Due to the rarity of this disease, limited molecular analysis has been performed, and those reports indicate unique molecular features of ASCP. In this paper, we characterize 23 patients diagnosed with ASCP through molecular profiling using immunohistochemistry staining, fluorescent in situ hybridization, chromogenic in situ hybridization, and gene sequencing, Additionally, we provide a comprehensive literature review of what is known to date of *** characterization revealed overexpression in MRP1(80%), MGMT(79%), TOP2A(75), RRM1(42%),TOPO1(42%), PTEN(45%), CMET(40%), and C-KIT(10%) among others. One hundred percent of samples tested were positive for KRAS mutations. This analysis shows heretofore unsuspected leads to be considered for treatments of this rare type of exocrine pancreas cancer. Molecular profiling may be appropriate to provide maximum information regarding the patient's tumor. Further work should be pursued to better characterize this disease.
