Resilience has become a cornerstone for risk management and disaster ***,it has evolved extensively both etymologically and conceptually in time and across scientific *** concept has been(re)shaped by the evolution of research and practice *** the opposite of vulnerability for a long time,resilience was first defined as the ability to resist,bounce back,cope with,and recover quickly from the impacts of *** avoid the possible return to conditions of vulnerability and exposure to hazards,the notions of post-disaster development,transformation,and adaptation(build back better)and anticipation,innovation,and proactivity(bounce forward)were then ***,resilience is characterized by a multitude of components and several *** present a selection of 25 components used to define resilience,and an interesting linkage emerges between these components and the dimensions of risk management(prevention,preparedness,response,and recovery),offering a perspective to strengthen resilience through the development of *** its potential,resilience is subject to challenges regarding its operationalization,effectiveness,measurement,credibility,equity,and even its ***,it offers applicability and opportunities for local communities as well as an interdisciplinary look at global challenges.

CYTOGENETIC STUDIES ON ACUTE MYELOMONOCYTIC AND MONOCYTIC LEUKEMIA

Chromosome studies were observed on 23 adult cases with acute myelomonocytic (M4) or acute monocytic (M5) leukemias. Chromosome abnormalities were found in 7 cases, among whom 3 patients with M4 all revealed monosomy 7 or deletion 7, but one with inv (16). Rearrangement of chromosome 11 were not observed in the M5. The rate of complete remission and median survival for patients M4 under 60 years of age was higher and longer than that for those with M5 over 60 years old. The prognosis of M4 was usually good.

The rationale and design of the minocycline plus amiodarone versus amiodarone alone (MINAA) trial for the prevention of atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery

Objectives: Amiodarone administration is presently considered in the prevention of new-onset postoperative atrial fibrillation (PAF) after cardiac operations, but relapse of PAF requiring anticoagulation therapy at hospital discharge is prevalent despite amiodarone prophylaxis. PAF is also associated with increased morbidity and mortality including complications resulting from long-term anticoagulation therapy. Currently, the most effective therapy to prevent PAF after cardiac surgery remains undetermined. Inflammatory mechanisms may be partly responsible for PAF. Minocycline, a tetracycline antibiotic, has specifically an atrial myocytes anti-apoptotic effect, decreases right atrial tissue inflammation and oxidative stress activity. These observations led to this trial’s hypothesis that the addition of minocycline to amiodarone may favorably affect suppression of PAF. Methods: This trial compares the efficacy and safety of minocycline plus amiodarone versus amiodarone alone, in the prevention of PAF among adult patients undergoing cardiac procedures. All patients receive Beta-blocker agent. The primary outcome is PAF occurrence. Secondary outcomes include thromboembolic stroke, need for pharmacologic or electric cardioversion, mediastinal exploration for sepsis or for anticoagulation-related bleeding, serious drug side effects, length of hospital stay and 30-day mortality from cardiovascular causes. Results: This is an ongoing prospective single center randomized controlled clinical trial. Conclusion: The trial provides information on the comparative effectiveness of this low-risk prevention therapy of PAF that could be integrated in clinical practice. (*** number, NCT 01422148).
