The northwest region of the Iberian Peninsula is home to a unique ecosystem of bogs,which are particularly sensitive to projected climate cha *** this context,the rate of carbon(C)accumulation in Chao de Veiga *** intact raised bog,was *** in the accumulation rate over the past10 millennia were determine. in a peat core of 847 cm in depth,with a high mean rate of peat growth(11 yr cm^-1,0.09 cm yr^-1).An age-depth model was gene.ated from 22 14C dates and fallout ***,stratigraphical and physico-chemical data confirmed the existence of a single cycle of peat formation throughout the Holocene.and the formation of ombrotrophic peat 9500 years *** total mean C content was 50.2%,and over 10 millennia 583 kg C m^-2 accumulated at a mean rate of 35.3 g C m^-2 yr^-1,with a long-term(apparent)rate of carbon accumulation in the catotelm of59.9 g C m^-2 yr^-*** values are much higher than reported for other Iberian peatlands and are amongst the highest documented for peatlands in the northern *** dynamics of C accumulation and other measured parameters reveals important variations throughout the *** could be associated with the main climatic events described in the northern hemisphere and are highly consistent with models established for northern *** Chao de Veiga Mol raised bog is unique and of great potential value for carrying out high resolution palaeoenvironmental studies,especially in relation to regional and Iocal modulations in southern Europe.

Methodology for Volumetric Measuring Transport of River Sand, in a Laboratory Channe. with Mobile Bottom

Most public universities in Latin America and Mexico lack laboratories for measuring sediment transport or to do academic activities. The Research Center of the engine.ring faculty of Chiapas state university (UNACH by its acronym in Spanish) designe. a portable prismatic channe. for teaching and researching the sediment transportation in rivers. This paper presents the method to measure river sand transportation in a laboratory channe. with a mobile bottom and presents the results of twenty-seven experiments done.in the portable channe., using nine.different slope inclinations and 27 flow and water speed values. The three main results are the following: 1) The construction of the channe. with variable slopes, to experiment and measure sediment transportation. 2) A method developed for measuring the volume of sediment in a laboratory. 3) In a channe. with a bottom slope of 0.071, a water flow of 2 l/s and a water speed of 1.77 m/s, the volume of transported sediment was 0.015 m3;in a channe. with a bottom slope of 0.44, a water flow of 2 l/s and a water speed of 0.788 m/s, the volume of transported sediment was 0.006 m3;in a channe. with the bottom slope of 0.024, a water flow of 2 l/s and a water speed of 0.62 m/s, the transported sediment was 0 m3.

The Conditions of ovary Storage Affect the Quality of Porcine.oocytes

We studied the effect of different storage conditions of porcine.ovaries (time, temperature) on the characteristics of the follicular fluid, immature oocyte quality, meiotic competence and in vitro fertilization of oocytes. ovaries were stored for 2, 4 or 6 h at 3 different temperatures (15°C, 25°C or 35°C). As the storage time increased, pH and glucose concentration of the follicular fluid, percentage of live immature oocytes at germinal vesicle stage, oxidative activity and maturation rate decreased. At higher temperatures, pH and glucose concentration decreased, but oxidative activity and oocyte maturation rate increased. Lactate concentration and immature oocyte RoS production increased as storage time and temperature increased. The ovary storage for longer than 2 h at 25°C and 35°C resulted in low pH of the follicular fluid and high RoS level in immature oocytes. Such conditions seem to damage oocytes and impair their meiotic competence. A decrease in the oxidative activity caused by long time and/or low storage temperature may imply a decrease in oocyte vitality. In conclusion, in the porcine.species, the transport of ovaries at 25°C and 35°C for 2 h are the best conditions to maintain adequate oocyte quality, meiotic competence and in vitro fertilization rates.

Cost Comparison and Hydraulic Design of Four Types of Residential Rainwater Harvesting Systems for Small Rural Communities, Considering Natural or Anthropogenic Climate Change Factors

This document presents the technical description and cost comparison of four rainwater harvesting systems for homes, the method for its hydraulic design and an equation to estimate the minimum catchment area, with the goal to supply drinking water to segregated small communities in Mexico considering climate change effects, both natural and anthropogenic. The four Rainwater Harvesting Systems (RHS) introduced in this work are the following: two rigid, one.system built with ferrocement and the other built with clay bricks, and two flexible: one.is a commercial collector while the other is a system built with a 3/8-inch reinforcing bar mesh and covered with a line.r low-density polyethylene.geomembrane. The RHS consist in cylindrical containe.s built with diverse materials, and in the case of rigid RHSs, they can store up to 50,000 liters of water. Also, rigid RHSs have a longer useful life and are more resistant than flexible RHSs, but their cost is notably higher. Rigid RHSs compete in price with commercial rainwater harvesting system brands like Rotoplas, but commercial RHSs disadvantages are their lower durability, storage capacity, and resistance. on the other hand, flexible RHSs are less durable than rigid one., although, in the case of the rainwater harvesting system made with a 3/8-inch reinforcing bar mesh, the system can be rebuilt and reused and the cost is much lower. The design of the collectors takes into consideration the climate variability of the study area, natural or anthropogenic.

Hollow, cylindrical, prismatic light guides （CPLGs） are optical compone.ts that, using total internal reflection （TIR）, are able to transmit high-diameter light beams in daylight and artificial lighting applications without relevant losses. It is ne.essary to study the prism defects of their surfaces to quantify the behavior of these optical compone.ts. In this Letter, we analyze a CPLG made of a transparent dielectric material. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and the topographic optical profilometry by absorption in fluids （ToPAF） imaging tech- nique are conducted to determine.if there are defects in the corne.s of the prisms. A model for light guide trans- mittance that is dependent on prism defects is proposed. Finally, a simulation and an experimental study are carried out to check the validity of the proposed model.

Triage and Risk Concept: Application Proposal for Pre-Hospital Emergencies in a Psychiatric Ambulance in the City of Buenos Aires

The heterogene.ty of clinical presentations in psychiatric emergencies creates difficulties in the response by interdisciplinary Mental Health teams. This is aggravated and difficult when the care is carried out on public roads or the patient’s home, that is, it is a pre-hospital context. our Psychiatric Emergency Hospital, located in the City of Buenos Aires, provides pre-hospital care with a psychiatric ambulance, which is then referred to gene.al hospitals or other health system providers. Not all effectors in the ne.work have the same resources and, at the time of the emergency, the reasons for consultation such as the patient’s clinic are heterogene.us and require the greatest effectivene.s in the intervention that is taken. The triage system is a resource that allows the systematization of approaches against the multiplicity of reasons for consultation and presentation of mental pathologies in the emergency room, in addition to providing greater effectivene.s in interventions, homogene.ty for the health system and consensus among the health effectors. Framed in the Mental Health Law, and especially in the concept of risk, a triage proposal was designe. for pre-hospital interventions by the psychiatric ambulance dependent on Hospital Alvear and under current legal regulations with the aim of homogenizing care and referrals with the highest rate of effectivene.s to provide quality interdisciplinary medicine.
