Interaction between diet and genetics in patients with inflammatory bowel disease

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Marangoni et al,published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Gastroenterology 2023;29:5618-5629,about“Diet as an epigenetic factor in inflammatory bowel disease”.The authors emphasized the role of diet,especially the interaction with genetics,in promoting the inflam-matory process in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)patients,focusing on DNA methylation,histone modifications,and the influence of *** this editorial,we explore the interaction between genetics,gut microbiota,and diet,in an only ***,we provided dietary recommendations for patients with *** Western diet,characterized by a low fiber content and deficiency the micronutrients,impacts short-chain fatty acids production and may be related to the pathogenesis of *** the other hand,the consumption of the Mediter-ranean diet and dietary fibers are associated with reduced risk of IBD flares,particularly in Crohn’s disease(CD)*** to the dietary guidance from the International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases(IOIBD),the regular consumption of fruits and vegetables while reducing the consumption of saturated,trans,dairy fat,additives,processed foods rich in maltodextrins,and artificial sweeteners containing sucralose or saccharine is recommended to CD *** patients with ulcerative colitis,the IOIBD recommends the increased intake of natural sources of omega-3 fatty acids and follows the same restrictive recommendations aimed at CD patients,with the possible inclusion of red *** conclusion,IBD is a complex and hetero-geneous disease,and future studies are needed to elucidate the influence of epigenetics on diet and microbiota in IBD patients.

This paper proposes a modified iterative learning control(MILC)periodical feedback-feedforward algorithm to reduce the vibration of a rotor caused by coupled unbalance and parallel *** control of the vibration of the rotor is provided by an active magnetic actuator(AMA).The iterative gain of the MILC algorithm here presented has a self-adjustment based on the magnitude of the *** filters are adopted to extract the synchronous(1×Ω)and twice rotational frequency(2×Ω)components of the rotor *** the notch frequency of the filter and the size of feedforward storage used during the experiment have a real-time adaptation to the rotational *** method proposed in this work can provide effective suppression of the vibration of the rotor in case of sudden changes or fluctuations of the rotor *** and experiments using the MILC algorithm proposed here are carried out and give evidence to the feasibility and robustness of the technique proposed.

Seedling potential of trees species along the elevational gradient in temperate hill forest of central Nepal

Regeneration status of tree species along elevation gradient in temperate hill forest was not understood *** research examined the tree diversity and its regeneration patterns along an elevation gradient in temperate hill forest,central *** were collected from 300 sample plots within vertical elevation bands of 10,ranging from 1365 to 2450 m asl.A random sampling method was used for data collection in three seasons,winter,pre-monsoon and post monsoon *** at breast height(DBH)was used to broadly categorize the plant individual into trees,saplings and *** tree species richness ranged from 12 to 25 with density of 350 to 1200 individuals per *** richness of tree and sapling showed statistically significant unimodal pattern,which peaked at *** showed a strong and positive linear correlation with the seedling density(Deviance=0.99,plationship with sapling density(Deviance=0.95,plarly,elevations showed a statistically significant negative hump-shaped relationship with all trees,saplings and seedling stages(Deviances=0.89,0.87 and 0.57).The highest values of the Shannon-Wiener index and the lowest value of the Simpson index were found at mid-elevation for all growth *** 92%of tree species were found at regenerating stage;49%in a good renewal regeneration status,32%in fair renewal regeneration,and 11%at a poor regenerating ***,4%of tree species were reported as non-regenerating stages and 4%were newly introduced ***,the regeneration status of the study area was considered fairly well since sapling(78.5%)>seedling(10.6%)≤mature(10.9%).Among tested environmental variables,elevation and annual mean rainfall were the most influential factors in the regeneration of tree species.

Designing Sustainable Thermal Energy System with Electro-Photo Conversion

Thermal energy conversion and also storage system is to advance knowledge and develop practical solutions at the intersection of micro and nano-scale engineering,energy conversion,and *** research addresses the challenge of enhancing these critical aspects to ensure prolonged system performance and durability in the context of evolving energy *** research analyses the anti-oxidation and filtration behaviours of micro and nano-scale structures in the context of electro-and photo-thermal energy conversion and also storage systems.A micro multiscale hierarchical structure strategy is presented to fabricate multi-scale double-layer porous wick evaporators with the electrospun nanofibers made of gelatin-polyamide 6(GPA6)and Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene/silver nanowire with Cellulose Micro/NanoFibers(CMNF)cryogens by using spark plasma sintering(SPS)based high-pressure hydrothermal treatment *** excellent anti-oxidation effect was offered by coating the film in thermal conditions and the anti-oxidation properties were further examined from 500℃to850℃.The results are analysed using Matlab software to improve the efficiency of energy conversion processes by integrating nanostructures into thermal systems,to increase energy output while minimizing *** silver nanowire is with a heat transfer coefficient of 78%,a mass remaining rate of 98.7%,and an energy storage efficiency of 23.8%.This study enhances energy density and duration by integrating nanostructures into thermal systems while minimizing energy losses,and it not only exhibits excellent anti-oxidation properties but also possesses superior filtration capabilities for designing and engineering multifunctional nanomaterials.

Hiding secret data in digital multimedia has been essential to protect the ***,attackers with a steganalysis technique may break *** steganalysis methods have good results with conventional Machine Learning(ML)techniques;however,the introduction of Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),a deep learning paradigm,achieved better performance over the previously proposed ML-based *** the existing CNN-based approaches yield good results,they present performance issues in classification accuracy and stability in the network training *** research proposes a new method with a CNN architecture to improve the hidden data detection accuracy and the training phase stability in spatial domain *** proposed method comprises three phases:pre-processing,feature extraction,and ***,in the pre-processing phase,we use spatial rich model filters to enhance the noise within images altered by data hiding;secondly,in the feature extraction phase,we use two-dimensional depthwise separable convolutions to improve the signal-to-noise and regular convolutions to model local features;and finally,in the classification,we use multi-scale average pooling for local features aggregation and representability enhancement regardless of the input size variation,followed by three fully connected layers to form the final feature maps that we transform into class probabilities using the softmax *** results identify an improvement in the accuracy of the considered recent scheme ranging between 4.6 and 10.2%with reduced training time up to 30.81%.

Two-dimension(2D)van der Waals heterojunction holds essential promise in achieving high-performance flexible near-infrared(NIR)***,we report the successful fabrication of ZnSb/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene based flexible NIR photodetector array via a facile photolithography *** single ZnSb/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)photodetector exhibited a high light-to-dark current ratio of 4.98,fast response/recovery time(2.5/1.3 s)and excellent stability due to the tight connection between 2D ZnSb nanoplates and 2D Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene nanoflakes,and the formed 2D van der Waals *** polyethylene terephthalate(PET)substrate enables the ZnSb/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)photodetector withstand bending such that stable photoelectrical properties with non-obvious change were maintained over 5000 bending ***,the ZnSb/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)photodetectors were integrated into a 26×5 device array,realizing a NIR image sensing application.

Challenges and pitfalls of youth-onset type 2 diabetes

The incidence and prevalence of youth-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)are *** rise in frequency and severity of childhood obesity,inclination to sedentary lifestyle,and epigenetic risks related to prenatal hyperglycemia exposure are important drivers of the youth-onset T2DM epidemic and might as well be responsible for the early onset of diabetes ***,youth-onset T2DM has a more extreme metabolic phenotype than adult-onset T2DM,with greater insulin resistance and more rapid deterioration of beta cell ***,intermediate complications such as microalbuminuria develop in late childhood or early adulthood,while end-stage complications develop in *** to the lack of efficacy and safety data,several drugs available for the treatment of adults with T2DM have not been approved in youth,reducing the pharmacological treatment *** this mini review,we will try to address the present challenges and pitfalls related to youth-onset T2DM and summarize the available interventions to mitigate the risk of microvascular and macrovascular complications.

Disparities across the CREOG Districts —Variations of Wellness and Inclusivity Efforts in Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Websites between Two Consecutive Years

Background: Few studies have focused on the geographic and chronologic assessment of inclusivity and wellness in Obstetrics and Gynecology residency websites across the US. Objective: To identify variations in wellness and inclusivity website depictions across CREOG districts over the past two years. Methods: This is a cross-sectional analysis of the websites of ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency programs across the United States between April 2022 and April 2023. The assessment was based on a compilation of 22 attributes devised and piloted by 49 medical students. A racially, geographically, and gender-diverse cohort of 11 students performed data collection. Results: A total of 560 websites were analyzed over two years. Wellness efforts remained unchanged in both years (website content, dedicated support personnel, and group activities). In 2023, a reduction in referencing of wellness (22%) and inclusivity (30%) occurred in leadership messaging. However, a 7% increase in the use of inclusive pronouns was noted. A reduction in gender diversity was identified (9% in faculty, 5% in residents), with programs favoring female-only teams. Similarly, a 7% reduction in the number of underrepresented in medicine faculty and residents was noted. A 15% reduction was noted in curricula referencing inclusivity in their mission statement and inclusivity focused research. Conclusions: This study suggests the variations across websites relative to inclusivity and wellness over the past two years. Updated websites may provide an accurate reflection of the offerings of programs and their investment in wellness and inclusivity across the nation.
