Short-term effect of physical activity on sleep health:A population-based study using accelerometry

Background:Regular physical activity(PA) is an important behavior in improving sleep ***,the short-term effects of PA on sleep are still *** study aimed to verify the effect of different intensities of PA practiced in different periods of the day on the subsequent sleep night in a population-based cohort of young ***::Prospective analyses were conducted for PA performed during the day and its effect on the following sleep night using data from the22-year follow-up of the 1993 Pelotas Birth Cohort in Brazil(mean age of participants-22.6 years).Wrist-worn accelerometry was usedto measure both PA and sleep *** intensity,we analyzed the sleep effect of light PA(lPA),moderate PA,and vigorous PA,stratified by *** variables were sleep time window(STW;the difference between sleep onset and sleep end),total sleep time(TST;the sum of minutes classified as sleep in STW),and sleep percent(SP;SP=(TST/STW);expressed in percentage).We performed generalized estimating equations using Stata ***::The means of STW,TST,and SP were 443.6 min/day,371.1 min/day,and 84%,*** spent in moderate PA and vigorous PA in the morning and afternoon was not associated with sleep *** men,10 min/day of morning lPA increased TST by2.56 min/*** women,10 min/day of morning lPA increased SP by 0.15 percentage *** lPA also increased SP by 0.09 percentage points for *** PA seems to have an inverse effect on sleep variables for any intensity and both ***::The effect of PA on sleep health is intrinsically related to the period of the day in which it is *** effect magnitude is different between *** better sleep health,it is preferable that PA be performed during the day.

Assessment of alterability of basalt used for riprap by petrographic examination

All engineering projects consist of several steps, and one of the main tasks is to identify and characterize the most important features of rock types that will be excavated, crushed, or mined for any particular usage purpose, from a single residential building to major works of infrastructure. laboratory investigation on engineering geology is thus conducted in order to determine the most relevant rock properties when designing structures such as mining shafts, tunnels, buildings, or reservoir dams to be built in sites associated with rocks. A wide range of laboratory tests is available, making the correct choice of test methods greatly relevant to determine the key property for the planned use of the rock. This paper is an illustrative case of laboratory testing of basaltic rocks to be used as riprap in a reservoir dam. it shows the important role of the petrographic study carried out to analyze the distribution pattern of smectite clay minerals. Test results are explained for the assessment of rock alterability, an essential aspect for the selection of the most suitable basalt variety for the envisaged conditions of use.

Ultrastructural features of the hypopharyngeal glands in the social wasp Polistes versicolor （Hymenoptera： Vespidae）

The wasps of the genus Polistes have been considered the key to understanding the evolution of social behavior in Hymenoptera. Several studies have shown that the development of organized insect societies was accompanied by the evolution of structures like exocrine glands, which became specialized to perform specific functions. This article investigates the ultrastructural and cytochemical features of the hypopharyngeal glands of Polistes versicolor. These glands have been studied in depth in social bees, where they occur only in nurses and produce the royal jelly. Our results＇ revealed that these glands basically did not vary among individuals or between sexes. They are constituted by spherical cells, each with a large nucleus and well-developed rough endoplasmic reticulum. Secretion vesicles are abundant, but lipid droplets were not observed, indicating that these glands may not have a role in pheromone synthesis. Acid phosphatase was detected in lysosomes, and also flee in the cytosol, but did not seem to be related with cell death. Thus, our results suggest that the hypopharyngeal glands ofP. versicolor may not have a specialized social role, but could produce digestive enzymes.

Risk factors and prediction of acute kidney injury after liver transplantation:logistic regression and artificial neural network approaches

Background The Cerrado is the most biodiverse savanna and maintains other biomes. Aware of its significance, this paper evaluated the Brazilian Cerrado's climatic, environmental, and socioeconomic aspects using remote sensing data and spatial statistics(correlation analysis and principal components analysis—PCA). Following the measures of sample adequacy(MSA) and Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin(KMO) tests, seventeen variables were *** The MSA revealed that the dataset had a good quality(0.76), and nine variables were selected: elevation, evapotranspiration, active fires, Human Development index(HDi), land use and land cover(lUlC; shrubland and cropland/rainfed), rainfall(spring and autumn), and livestock. The correlation matrix indicated a positive(negative) association between HDi and autumn rainfall(HDi and active fires) with a value of 0.77(-0.55). The PCA results determined which three principal components(PC) were adequate for extracting spatial patterns, accounting for 68.02% of the total variance with respective values of 38.59%, 16.89%, and 12.5%. Due to economic development and agribusiness, Cerrado's northern(central, western, and southern) areas had negative(positive) score HDi values, as shown in PC1. Climatic(rainfall—spring and fall) and environmental(cropland/rainfed and shrubland) aspects dominated the PC2, with negative scores in northern and western portions due to the transition zone between Amazon and Cerrado biomes caused by rainfall variability. On the other hand, environmental aspects(lUlC-shrubland and elevation) influenced the PC3; areas with high altitudes(> 500 m) received a higher *** Agricultural expansion substantially affected lUlC, leading to deforestation-caused suppression of native vegetation.

The genetic bases and molecular mechanisms involved in the assembly and function of the flagellum components as well as in the regulation of the flagellar movement are not fully understood, especially in humans. There are several causes for sperm immotility, of which some can be avoided and corrected, whereas other are related to genetic defects and deserve full investigation to give a diagnosis to patients. This review was performed after an extensive literature search on the online databases PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science. Here, we review the involvement of regulatory pathways responsible for sperm motility, indicating possible causes for sperm immotility. These included the calcium pathway, the cAMP-dependent protein kinase pathway, the importance of kinases and phosphatases, the function of reactive oxygen species, and how the regulation of cell volume and osmolarity are also fundamental components. We then discuss main gene defects associated with specific morphological abnormalities. Finally, we slightly discuss some preventive and treatments approaches to avoid development of conditions that are associated with unspecified sperm immotility. We believe that in the near future, with the development of more powerful techniques, the genetic causes of sperm immotility and the regulatory mechanisms of sperm motility will be better understand, thus enabling to perform a full diagnosis and uncover new therapies.

Oi 630.0 nm airglow observations,from a new observatory at Bom Jesus de lapa,were used to study the interaction between EPBs(Equatorial Plasma Bubbles)and the MSTiD(Medium-Scale Traveling ionospheric Disturbance)over the Northeast region in *** the night of September 16 to 17,2020,an EPB was observed propagating eastward,in an apparent fossil stage,until it interacted with a dark band electrified MSTiD(e MSTiD).After the interaction,four EPBs merged,followed by an abrupt southward development and *** of the data suggests that an eastward polarization electric field,induced by the dark band e MSTiD,forced the EPB into an upward drift,growing latitudinally along the magnetic field lines and then bifurcating.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind, Right? Not in COViD-19 Shock or Anaerobic and Exhaustive Shock versus Septic Shock Dilemma That Means to live or Die. Emergency Attention and a Necessity of Trials

Background: COViD-19 brought challenges that did not end after a two-year pandemic. From more straightforward changes in habits to studying to understand the enigmatic parasite-host relationship, we can better manage the patient infected with SARS-CoV-2 even with a vaccine full of doubts and antivirals that do not correctly cover the viral period. SARS-CoV-2 brought the chronic inflammation now called “The long COViD-19 Syndrome” (lCS), something still little talked about, but we already see deaths due to non-identification of this inflammatory syndrome that can lead to shock. Theory: lCS Shock is due to a long period of metabolic stress, reflecting the shift from inflammation to oxidative stress and innate immunity, and does not respond to antimicrobials, as its main component is inflammatory, although there may be conjoined bacterial translocation. Thus, we are losing patients to a new syndrome confused with sepsis and septic shock. While septic shock (SS) responds to antimicrobials, inflammatory Shock (iSc) does not respond to antimicrobials alone, requiring high doses of corticosteroids. Review: This study shows that we need to differentiate SS and iSC, as the treatment is different. The review shows that lactate, lDH and the presence of new/recent cardiac changes and bradycardia in the face of a status where there should be tachycardia as the usual response can differ iSC from SS. Maybe the main responsible for high lDH is Warburg Effect. Conclusion: We have a dilemma that requires clinical studies that routinely match high doses of corticosteroids (until there is something better to be done) and bring laboratory and imaging differences to diagnose SS vs iSc better.
