Background:Physical activity(PA)is important for cancer *** of remotely delivered interventions are needed to assist in reaching under-served non-metropolitan cancer *** objective of this study was to ascertain whether wearable technology,coupled with health coaching was effective in increasing PA in breast and colorectal cancer survivors living in regional and remote areas in ***:Cancer survivors from 5 states were randomized to intervention and control *** participants were given a Fitbit Charge 2Tmand received up to 6 telephone health coaching *** participants received PA print *** assessments at baseline and 12 weeks measured moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA),light PA,and sedentary ***:eighty-seven participants were recruited(age=63±11 years;74(85%)female).There was a significant net improvement in MVPA of 49.8 min/week,favoring the intervention group(95%confidence interval(95%CI):13.6-86.1,p=0.007).There was also a net increase in MVPA bouts of 39.5 min/week(95%CI:11.9-67.1,p=0.005),favoring the intervention *** groups improved light PA and sedentary behavior,but there were no between-group ***:This’s the first study to demonstrate that,when compared to standard practice(i.e.,PA education),a wearable technology intervention coupled with distance-based health coaching,improves MVPA in non-metropolitan cancer *** results display promise for the use of scalable interventions using smart wearable technology in conjunction with phone-based health coaching to foster increased PA in geographically disadvantaged cancer survivors.

Diabetes mellitus and periodontal disease are chronic diseases affecting a large number of populations *** bone metabolism is one of the important long-term complications associated with diabetes *** bone loss is one of the main outcomes of periodontitis,and diabetes is among the primary risk factors for periodontal *** this review,we summarise the adverse effects of diabetes on the periodontium in periodontitis subjects,focusing on alveolar bone *** remodelling begins with osteoclasts resorbing bone,followed by new bone formation by osteoblasts in the resorption ***,we discuss the potential mechanism of diabetes-enhanced bone loss in relation to osteoblasts and osteoclasts.

The role of low-density lipoprotein （LDL） and high-density lipoprotein （HDL） in comparison with whole egg yolk for sperm cryopreservation in rhesus monkeys

Low-density lipoprotein （LDL） extracted from hen egg yolk has recently been considered to be superior to whole egg yolk in sperm cryopreservation of various animal species. Meanwhile, there was a notion that high-density lipoprotein （HDL） in egg yolk may have a negative effect on post-thaw survival. The role of LDL and HDL in sperm cryopreservation of rhesus monkeys has not been explored. The present study evaluates their effect in comparison with egg yolk with or without the addition of permeable cryoprotectant （glycerol） on sperm cryopreservation of rhesus macaques. In addition, various additives intended to change the lipid composition of LDL-sperm membrane complex have also been tested for their effectiveness in preserving post-thaw viability. Our findings indicated that LDL is the main component in egg yolk that is responsible for its protective role for sperm cryopreservation in rhesus monkeys. Regardless of the presence or absence of glycerol, the protective role of LDL is similar to that of egg yolk and we did not observe any superiority in post-thaw survival with LDL when compared to egg yolk. Modifying the lipid composition of LDL-sperm membrane complex with the addition of cholesterol, cholesterol loaded cyclodextrin and phosphatidylcholine also did not yield any improvements in pest-thaw survival; while addition of methyl-β-cyclodextrin reduced post-thaw motility. HDL plays a neutral role in sperm cryopreservation of rhesus monkeys. The present study suggests that egg yolk may still hold advantages when compared with LDL as effective components in extenders for sperm cryopreservation in rhesus monkeys.

First Principle Study on the Rectification of Molecular Junctions Based on the Thiol-ended Oligosilane

The electron transport properties of various molecular junctions based on the thiol-ended oligosilane are investigated through density functional theory combined with non-equilibrium Green＇s function formalism. Our calculations show that oligosilanes doped by the phenyl and -C10H6 groups demonstrate better rectifying effect and their rectification ratios are up to 15.41 and 65.13 for their molecular junctions. The current-voltage （I-V） curves of all the Au/ modified oligosilane/Au systems in this work are illustrated by frontier molecular orbitals, transmission spectra and density of states under zero bias. And their rectifying behaviors are analyzed through transmission spectra.

Foraminiferal biostratigraphy of the Miocene Qom Formation, northwest of the Qom, Central Iran

Near Dochah, in the type area of the Qom Formation, Central Iran, the Miocene is partly developed in pelagic facies. From the 894.1 meter thick, ＇a to e＇ members of this section, 152 samples were collected. Abundant planktonic foraminifera let us correlate the study section with the global planktonic foraminifera biozonations. High diversity of foraminifera in the study section allow us to adapt the study succession to global biozonations. Twenty-seven genera and thirty-four species are reported for the first time from the Dochah section. First reports of Praeorbulina sicana and Praeorbulina transitoria in the upper part of this section led to recognition of the Praeorbulina sicana lower occurrence subzone （M5a） biozone with a late Late Burdigalian age.

Neuroimaging of inflammation in alcohol use disorder: a review

Alcohol use disorder(AUD) is a global health concern associated with several *** health problems related to AUD, such as cognitive deficits, have been linked to *** use has been associated with changes in neuroimmune activity, although current literature has yielded mixed results. For example, markers of gliosis, including translocator protein 18-kDa(TSPO), proinflammatory cytokines, glutamate(Glu), and myo-inositol(mI), are disrupted in the alcohol-dependent brain. Further, neuroinflammatory-related phenomena including membrane turnover, blood brain barrier(BBB) permeability, and adenosine release have also shown alterations in AUD. However, current literature remains inconclusive about the directionality of these changes. Both in vivo and in vitro studies have provided insight on the relationship between alcohol use and neuroinflammatory processes, suggesting considerable treatment potential for alcohol use disorder and its inflammatory comorbidities. Here, we review current neuroimaging literature assessing the impacts of alcohol use on neuroimmune activity in the brain.

Background:Although guidelines recommend systemic therapy even in patients with limited extrahepatic metastases from hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),a few recent studies suggested a potential benefit for resection of extrahepatic ***,the benefit of adrenal resection(AR)for adrenal-only metastases(AOM)from HCC was not proved *** is the first study to compare long-term outcomes of AR to those of sorafenib in patients with AOM from ***:The patients with adrenal metastases(AM)from HCC were identified from the electronic records of the institution between January 2002 and December *** who presented AM and other sites of extrahepatic disease were ***,the patients with AOM who received other therapies than AR or sorafenib were ***:A total of 34 patients with AM from HCC were *** of these,22 patients had AOM,6 receiving other treatment than AR or ***,8 patients with AOM underwent AR(AR group),while 8 patients were treated with sorafenib(SOR group).The baseline characteristics of the two groups were not significantly different in terms of age,sex,number and size of the primary tumor,timing of AM diagnosis,Child-Pugh and eCOG *** a median follow-up of 15.5 months,in the AR group,the 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates(85.7%,42.9%,and 0%,respectively)were significantly higher than those achieved in the SOR group(62.5%,0%and 0%at 1-,3-and 5-year,respectively)(P=0.009).The median progression-free survival after AR(14 months)was significantly longer than that after sorafenib therapy(6 months,P=0.002).Conclusions:In patients with AOM from HCC,AR was associated with significantly higher overall and progression-free survival rates than systemic therapy with *** results could represent a starting-point for future phase II/III clinical trials.

Response of phenology- and yield-related traits of maize to elevated temperature in a temperate region

extreme high temperatures detrimental to maize production are projected to occur more frequently with future climate *** and yield-related traits were investigated under several levels of elevated temperature in two early-maturing hybrid cultivars:Junda 6(grown in northeastern China)and Chalok 1(grown in South Korea).They were cultivated in plastic houses in Suwon,Korea(37.27°N,126.99°e)held at target temperatures of ambient(AT),AT+1.5°C,AT+3°C,and AT+5°C at one sowing date in 2013 and three different sowing dates in *** and reproductive growth durations showed variation depending on sowing date,experimental year,and *** duration tended to decrease,but not necessarily,with temperature elevation,but somewhat increased again above a certain *** temperature-dependent variation was greater during grain filling than in the vegetative period before *** temperature showed no significant effects on duration or peak dates of silking and anthesis,and thus on anthesis–silking *** yield tended to decrease with temperature elevation above ambient,showing a sharper linear decrease with mean growing season temperature increase in Junda 6 than in Chalok *** decrease in kernel number accounted for a much greater contribution to the yield reductions due to temperature elevation than did the decrease in individual kernel weight in both *** harvestable kernel weight was not significantly affected by temperature elevation *** number showed a linear decrease with mean growth temperature from early ear formation to early grain-filling stage,with Junda 6 showing a much severer decrease than Chalok *** number reduction due to temperature elevation was attributable more to the decrease in differentiated ovule number than to the decrease in kernel set in Chalok 1,but largely to the decrease of kernel set in Junda 6.

目的分析了解深圳市输入性恶性疟原虫耐药基因突变情况,帮助评估抗疟药的疗效和指导有效用药。方法收集2022—2023年从境外输入深圳市的恶性疟荧光定量聚合酶链反应(polymerase chain reaction,PCR)阳性的样本85例,提取基因组DNA,使用巢式PCR扩增耐药基因:恶性疟原虫Kelch螺旋体蛋白基因(Plasmodium falciparum Kelch 13,PfK13)、多药耐药基因1(multidrug resistance 1,Pfmdr1)、氯喹抗性转运基因(chloroquine resistance transporter,Pfcrt)、二氢叶酸还原酶基因(dihydrofolate reductase,Pfdhfr)和二氢蝶酸合成酶基因(dihydropteroate synthase,Pfdhps),并进行双向测序,使用MeGA11.06软件分析这些耐药基因突变情况。结果研究发现PfK13错义突变(S549P)1例,同义突变4例。Pfmdr162.69%样本存在Y184F突变,未检测到N86Y突变体。Pfcrt基因中,未检测到72和73位点的突变,M74I、N75e和K76T突变分别占17.46%、15.87%和15.87%。Pfcrt基因野生型占主导(82.54%,52例),其次是I_(74)e_(75)T_(76)三重突变体(15.87%,10例)。Pfdhfr最常见的突变型为I_(51)R_(59)N_(108)(91.78%,67例),其次是野生型(2.74%,2例)。Pfdhps野生型占60.32%(38例),单突变K540e为最常见突变类型,检测到S436A、G437A、K540e、A581G、A613S、I431V、G556K、G579e位点突变。Pfdhfr-Pfdhps组合突变中,I_(51)R_(59)N_(108)-e540是频率最高的组合突变(11.48%),59.02%样本为Pfdhfr单独突变体。结论在本研究中,PfK13突变率低,且无报导的耐药突变,Y184F成为Pfmdr1突变主导,未发现有N86Y。Pfcrt野生型为主,其次为I_(74)e_(75)T_(76)三重突变体,Pfdhfr I_(51)R_(59)N_(108)三重突变非常普遍,本研究并未发现PfdhfrPfdhps完全抗性和超抗性突变体,但有其他的五重七重突变型。在未来的工作中,需要继续加强疟原虫耐药基因的监测,同时进一步结合体内疗效的监测来有效指导临床用药。
