Combining CO_(2) capture and catalytic conversion to methane

Considering the global objective to mitigate climate change,import efforts are made on decreasing the net emission of CO_(2) from gas *** the one hand CO_(2) capture-for example by adsorption onto solid basic materials-allows to withdraw CO_(2) from the waste gas streams emitted by incinerators,cement manufacture plants,combustion plants,power plants,*** the second hand,CO_(2) can be converted to useful *** to methane-using appropriate heterogene-ous catalysts.A relatively innovative strategy consists in combining both technologies by designing materials and processes which can switch between capture and methanation modes *** allows treating complex waste gas effluents by selectively and reversibly capturing CO_(2),and to perform the catalytic hydrogenation in appropriate reaction *** short review presents the main strategies recently reported in the literature for such combined CO_(2) capture and methanation(CCCM)*** discuss the different types of reactor configurations and we present the formulations used in this context as adsorbent,as methanation catalysts,and as“dual functional materials”.

NaOH 改性WO_3/SiO_2 催化剂催化2-丁烯和乙烯复分解制丙烯(英文)

A WO3 /SiO2 catalyst is used in industry to produce propylene from 2-butene and ethylene metathe-sis. Catalysts with various WO3 loading(4% to 10%) were prepared by impregnation and tested for the metathesis of ethene and trans-2-butene. Ion exchange of NaOH onto the WO3/SiO2 catalyst was used to mitigate the acidity of the catalysts in a controlled way. At low WO3 loading, the treatment with large amounts of NaOH resulted in a significant decrease in metathesis activity concomitant with significant W leaching and marked structural changes(XRD, Raman). At higher WO3 loading (6% to 10%), the treatment with NaOH mainly resulted in a decrease in acidity. FT-IR experiments after adsorption of pyridine showed that the Lewis acidic sites were poisoned by sodium. Never-theless, the metathesis activity remained constant after the NaOH treatment. This suggested that the remaining acidity on the catalyst was enough to ensure the efficient formation of the carbene active sites. Interestingly, Na poisoning resulted in some modification of the selectivity. The mitigation of acidity was shown to favor propene selectivity over the formation of isomerization products (cis-2-butene, 1-butene, etc.). Moreover, treatment with NaOH led to a shorter induction period and reduced coke formation on the WO3 /SiO2 catalyst.

Destruction and removal efficiency of pICs by various iron ores during sintering-exploratory testing

Worldwide,iron ore sintering is the largest industrial single source of dioxin emissions^(1-3).Conversely, some ores may help in reducing emissions,because of their aptitude of(a) adsorbing and(b) oxidising or decomposing TOC and dioxins^(4,5).Such dioxin abatement abilities were tested for five types of ores,representing major ore origins(Australia,Brazil,and South Africa ),minerals(magnetite,haematite,goethite,pisolite ),and properties,***,and Loss on Ignition(LOI) *** total,11 exploratory experimental runs were conducted on iron ores,to test the oxidation in air of four different organic trace test substances:acetone, chloroform,n-hexane,and toluene contained in a test gas were led simultaneously over the ore over a preestablished temperature *** test comprehends a first part with a programmed temperature rise,a brief soaking period at the temperature maximum(>400℃),and a ballistic cooling *** concentration of the four organics is continuously monitored by Mass Spectrometry(MS) operating in a full-scan mode(m/e ploratory experiments allowed differentiating the ores tested according to the Destruction & Removal Efficiency(DRE) *** check the results the products of oxidation in the effluent were sampled on Tenax and ***,the dioxin load remaining on several test residues was examined and found to be quite limited (pg I-TEQ/g).
