Heat treatment of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)has provided a wide variety of functional carbons coordinated with metal *** this study,two kinds of zinc-based MOF(ZMOF),C_(16)H_(10)O_(4)Zn(ZMOF1)and C_(8)H_(4)O_(4)Zn(ZMOF2),were ***1 and ZMOF2 were carbonized at 1000℃,forming CZMOF1 and CZMOF2,*** specific surface area(S_(BET))of CZMOF2 was~2700 m^(2)g^(−1),much higher than that of CZMOF1(~1300 m^(2)g^(−1)).A supercapacitor electrode based on CZMOF2 achieved specific capacitances of 360,278,and 221 F g^(−1)at 50,250,and 1000 mA g^(−1)in an aqueous electrolyte(H2SO_(4)),respectively,the highest values reported to date for ZMOF-derived electrodes under identical *** practical applicability of the CZMOF-based supercapacitor was verified in non-aqueous *** initial capacitance retention was 78%after 100000 charge/discharge cycles at 10 A g^(−1).Crucially,the high capacitance of CZMOF2 arises from pore generation during *** 1000℃,pore generation is dominated by the Zn/C ratio of ZMOFs,as carbon atoms reduce the zinc oxides formed during *** 1000℃,a high O/C ratio becomes essential for pore generation because the oxygen functional groups are *** findings will provide insightful information for other metal-based MOFderived multifunctional carbons.

Given the high-level physiological functions and nutrient concentrations of bark that cover the entire trunks of huge trees,research into bark nutrient traits and the development of models that estimate the bark biomass of tropical trees is essential when it is sought to understand forest nutrient cycling and tree ecological *** study investigated the concentrations of six bark nutrients(nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P),potassium(K),calcium(Ca),magnesium(Mg),and sodium(Na))by individual tree size and the soil nutrient concentrations for two major pioneer species(Macaranga gigantea and ***)of *** estimate bark biomass,allometric equations using tree diameter,height,and crown diameter were developed by combining previous data from adjacent forests with the present *** found no significant relationship between tree size and most bark nutrient concentrations,though all nutrient concentrations of the two pioneer trees were significantly higher than those of primary forest tree ***,no relationship was found between the soil and bark nutrient concentrations for either *** the size parameters used in the allometric equations accurately estimated bark *** were no differences in equations between the two species when diameter served as an explanatory variable,but differences were apparent when height and crown diameter were so used.A comparison of allometric equations that yielded the bark biomasses of different types of forest showed that the bark biomass of the tropical secondary forest trees was less than half of that of tropical dry forest trees of the same ***,the use of inappropriate equations and nutrient concentrations increases the possibility of serious errors in estimating bark biomass and forest nutrient cycles.

Background:Pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD)is a standardized strategy for patients with middle and distal bile duct *** aim of this study was to compare clinicopathological features of bile duct segmen-tal resection(BDR)with PD in patients with extrahepatic ***:Consecutive cases with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma who underwent BDR(n=21)or PD(n=84)with achievement of R0 or R1 resection in Kobe University Hospital between January 2000 and December 2016 were enrolled in the present ***:Patients who underwent PD were significantly younger than those receiving *** frequency of preoperative jaundice,biliary drainage and cholangitis was not significantly different between the two *** duration of surgery was longer and there was more intraoperative bleeding in the PD than in the BDR group(553 vs.421 min,and 770 vs.402 mL;both PClavien-DindoⅢa)were observed in the PD group(46%vs.10%,P<0.01).Postoperative hospital stay was also longer in that group(30 vs.19 days,P=0.02).Pathological assessment revealed that tumors were less advanced in the BDR group but the rate of lymph node metastasis was similar in both groups(33%in BDR and 48%in PD,P=0.24).The rate of R0 resection was significantly higher in the PD group(80%vs.38%,P<0.01).Adjuvant chemotherapy was more frequently administered to patients in the BDR group(62%vs.38%,P=0.04).Although 5-year overall survival rates were similar in both groups(44%for BDR and 51%for PD,P=0.72),in patients with T1 and T2,the BDR group tended to have poorer prognosis(44%vs.68%at 5-year,P=0.09).Conclusions:BDR was comparable in prognosis to PD in middle bile duct *** invasiveness and lower morbidity of BDR justified this technique for selected patients in a poor general condition.

To enhance the conductivity detection sensitivity of common anions(Na-anions) in electrostatic ion chromatography(EIC) by elution with water,a conductivity enhancement column packed with strong acid cation exchange resin in the H-form was inserted between an octadecyl silane(ODS)-silica separation column modified with zwitterionic surfactant(CHAPS: 3-{(3-cholamidopropyl)-dimethylammonio}propanesulfonate) and a conductivity ***,the Na-anion pairing is converted to H-anion pairing after the EIC separation and then detected sensitively by the conductivity *** effects of conductivity enhancement and suppression in the EIC by the enhanced conductivity detection were characterized for the common strong acid anions such as SO2-4,Cl-,NO-3,I-and ClO-4 and weak acid anions such as F-,NO-2,HCOO-,CH3COO-and *** the conductivity enhancement effect in the EIC,it is found that the conductivity of measured for all strong acid anions(Na-anions) was enhanced according to the theoretical conductivity predicted for H-anions and that of the measured for weak acid anions was suppressed depending on their pKa of *** the calibration linearity in the EIC,the strong acid anions were linear(r2=0.99-1.00) because the degree of dissociation is almost 1.0 over all the concentration range and that of the weak acid anions was non-linear because the degree of dissociation decreased by increasing the concentration of the weak acid *** conclusion,the EIC by enhanced conductivity detection was recognized to be useful only for the strong acid anions in terms of conductivity detection and calibration linearity.

In this study,our recent work on advanced ion chromatographic methods for the simultaneous determination of inorganic ionic species such as common anions(SO2-4,Cl-and NO-3) and cations(Na+,NH+4,K+,Mg2+,and Ca2+),nutrients(phosphate and silicate) and hydrogen ion/alkalinity are summarized ***,the applications using these methods for monitoring environmental water quality are also *** the determination of common anions and cations with nutrients,the separation was successfully performed by a polymethacrylate-based weakly acidic cation-exchange column of TSKgel Super IC-A/C(Tosoh,150 mm×6.0 mm i.d.) and a mixture solution of 100 mmol/L ascorbic acid and 4 mmol/L 18-crown-6 as acidic eluent with dual detection of conductivity and *** the determination of hydrogen ion/alkalinity,the separation was conducted by TSKgel ODS-100Z column(Tosoh,150 mm×4.5 mm i.d.) modified with lithium dodecylsulfate and an eluent of 40 mmol/L LiCl/0.1 mmol/L lithium dodecylsulfate/0.05 mmol/L H2SO4 with conductivity *** differences of ion concentration between untreated and treated wastewater showed the variation of ionic species during biological treatment process in a sewage treatment *** and distribution of water-quality conditions were related to the bioavailability and human activity in *** these results,our advanced ion chromatographic methods have contributed significantly for water quality monitoring of environmental waters.
