Cardiac biomarkers in children with congenital heart disease

Background:Most congenital heart diseases(CHDs)have specific hemodynamics,including volume and pressure overload,as well as cyanosis and pulmonary hypertension,associated with anatomical *** hemodynamic abnormalities can cause activation of neurohormones,inflammatory cytokines,fibroblasts,and vascular endothelial cells,which in turn contribute to the development of pathologic conditions such as cardiac hypertrophy,fi brosis,and cardiac cell damages and *** biomarker levels facilitates the prediction of these pathological changes,and provides information about the stress placed on the myocardial cells,the severity of the damage,the responses of neurohumoral factors,and the remodeling of the *** to the ample information on cardiac biomarkers in adult heart diseases,data from children with CHD are still *** sources:We reviewed cardiac biomarkers-specifi cally focusing on troponin as a biomarker of myocardial damage,amino-terminal procollagen type III peptide(PIIIP)as a biomarker of myocardialfi brosis and stromal remodeling,and B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP)/N-terminal proBNP as biomarkers of cardiac load and heart failure,by introducing relevant publications,including our own,on pediatric CHD patients as well as ***:Levels of highly sensitive troponin I are elevated in patients with atrial septal defects(ASDs)and ventricular septal defects(VSDs).PIIIP levels are also elevated in patients with ASD,VSD,pulmonary stenosis,and Tetralogy of *** of BNP and N-terminal proBNP levels shows good correlation with heart failure score in ***:In the treatment of children with CHD requiring delicate care,it is vital to know the specifi c degree of myocardial damage and severity of heart *** biomarkers are useful tools for ascertaining the condition of CHDs with ease and are likely to be useful in determining the appropriate care of pediatric cardiology patients.

New Discovery of the Early Cretaceous Volcanic Rocks on the Barton Peninsula,King George Island,Antarctica and Its Geological Significance

Ages determined with the 40Ar/39Ar isotopic system affirms the Early Cretaceous volcanic activity in the Barton Peninsula, King George Island, Antarctica. Two specimens of basaltic andesite collected from the lower-most volcanic sequence of the peninsula were irradiated and analyzed in different experiments, yielding an identical age spectrum, and two magmatic thermal events of the Early Cretaceous (120.4±1.6 Ma, 119±1 Ma) and Early Tertiary (53.1±1.5 Ma, 52±1 Ma) are distinguished. The former is interpreted to represent the primary cooling age of basaltic andesite, whereas the latter is the thermal reset age caused by the intrusion of granitic pluton. These new ages clearly indicate that volcanism was active during the Early Cretaceous on the Barton Peninsula and that intensive hydrothermal alteration and mineralization of Mesozoic volcanic rocks resulted from Tertiary magmatism.

During studying the heat capacity of metals and brightening more than the original Lena’s image, the temperature increasing term obtained in binomial expansion is transformed into the adsorption increasing term and thereafter we have derived the total adsorption rate equation with it. In the first layer the quantization does not occur and from 2nd layer to nth layer the quantization occurs. So as to get the total adsorption rate equation we add the quantized terms of the second to nth layers to the non-quantized term of the first layer. All terms are based on the unit surface sites. Instead of the unit surface sites, the new adsorption site term appears in the denominator of the adsorption equation. Hence the adsorption equations come out much better than BET equation. The surface area is also calculated through the integration of the adsorption isotherm equation excluding the first layer adsorption equation from the inflection point to the wanted relative pressure.

It has been known that peripheral adverse event is caused by peripheral antimuscarinic action, from hyoscine butylbromide (Buscopan; Boehringer Ingelheim, Germany) used as a premedication for endoscopy. However, symptoms or signs associated with the central nervous system are rarely reported in the field of anesthesiology and peripartum labor. This central anticholinergic syndrome is likely caused by blockade of muscarinic cholinergic receptors in the central nervous system. There is no report on Buscopan-induced central anticholinergic syndrome in endoscopy room so far. Three middle-aged females unexpectedly suffered from anterograde amnesia after intramuscular injection of hyoscine butylbromide as an antispasmodic premedication for endoscopy at our endoscopy unit in the Health Promotion Center.

Self-propelling micro-and nano-motors(MNMs)have been extensively investigated as an emerging oral drug delivery carrier for gastrointestinal(GI)tract ***,the propulsion of current MNMs reported so far is mostly based on the redox reaction of metals(such as Zn and Mg)with severe propulsion gas generation,remaining non-degradable residue in the GI ***,we develop a bioinspired enzyme-powered biopolymer micromotor mimicking the mucin penetrating behavior of Helicobacter pylori in the *** converts urea to ammonia and the subsequent increase of pH induces local gel-sol transition of the mucin layer facilitating the penetration into the stomach tissue *** successful fabrication of micromotors is confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy,electron energy loss spectroscopy,dynamic light scattering analysis,zeta-potential *** acidic condition,the immobilized urease can efficiently converted urea to ammonia,comparable with that of neutral condition because of the increase of surrounding pH during *** administration into the stomach,the micromotors show enhanced penetration and prolonged retention in the stomach for 24 ***,histological analysis shows that the micromotors are cleared within 3 days without causing any toxicity in the GI *** enhanced penetration and retention of the micromotors as an active oral delivery carrier in the stomach would be successfully harnessed for the treatment of various GI tract diseases.

An 80-year-old woman presenting with chest pain was found to have a large,lobulated soft tissue mass in the liver and nearby tissues on abdominal computed tomography(CT).The tumor had invaded the common hepatic artery and main portal *** developed 4 wk later,at which point,a pancreas and biliary CT scan revealed a large mass in the right lobe of the liver and a hilar duct obstruction,which was found to be a small cell *** its rarity,liver and bile duct small cell carcinoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of atypical chest pain without jaundice.

This paper presents a new cell culture platform enabling label-free surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)analysis of biological *** platform integrates a multilayered metal-insulator-metal nanolaminated SERS substrate and polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)multiwells for the simultaneous analysis of cultured *** cell lines,including breast normal and cancer cells and prostate cancer cells,were used to validate the applicability of this unique *** cell lines were cultured in different *** Raman spectra of over 100 cells from each cell line were collected and analyzed after 12h of introducing the cells to the *** unique Raman spectra of each cell line yielded biomarkers for identifying cancerous and normal cells.A kernel-based machine learning algorithm was used to extract the high-dimensional variables from the Raman ***,the nonnegative garrote on a kernel machine classifier is a hybrid approach with a mixed nonparametric model that considers the nonlinear relationships between the higher-dimension *** breast cancer cell lines and normal breast epithelial cells were distinguished with an accuracy close to 90%.The prediction rate between breast cancer cells and prostate cancer cells reached 94%.Four blind test groups were used to evaluate the prediction power of the SERS *** peak intensities at the selected Raman shifts of the testing groups were selected and compared with the training groups used in the machine learning *** blind testing groups were correctly predicted 100% of the time,demonstrating the applicability of the multiwell SERS array for analyzing cell populations for cancer research.

Recently,there have been the increase of ship size and the development of oil and gas in arctic *** trends have led to the requirements such as high strength,good toughness at low temperature and good *** high performance structural steels for shipbuilding and arctic offshore structure have been developed by our own micro-alloying and TMCP technologies.M-A constituent was precisely controlled in the both HAZ and base metal to get high toughness at low ***,the grain growth of austenite at HAZ was effectively suppressed by thermally stable TiN particles,leading to a good HAZ *** the other hand,there has been the key issue of crack arrestability in large size container *** effect of joint design on crack arrestability was investigated to prevent a catastrophic failure along the block joint of hatch side coaming.A brittle crack arrest technique was developed without block joint shift,using an arrest weld in the end of hatch side coaming weld line.
