Self-templating synthesis of biomass-based porous carbon nanotubes for energy storage and catalytic degradation applications

Dwindling energy sources and a worsening environment are huge global problems,and biomass wastes are an under-exploited source of material for both energy and material ***,self-template decoction dregs of Ganoderma lucidum-derived porous carbon nanotubes(ST-DDLGCs)were synthesized via a facile and scalable strategy in response to these ***-DDLGCs exhibited a large surface area(1731.51 m^(2)g^(-1))and high pore volume(0.76 cm^(3)g^(-1)),due to the interlacing tubular structures of precursors and extra-hierarchical porous structures on tube *** the ST-DDLGC/PMS system,the degradation efficiency of capecitabine(CAP)reached~97.3%within 120 ***,ST-DDLGCs displayed high catalytic activity over a wide pH range of 3–9,and strong anti-interference to these typical and ubiquitous anions in wastewater and natural water bodies(i.e.,H_(2)PO_(4)^(-),NO_(3)^(-),Cl^(-) and HCO_(3)^(-)),in which a ^(1)O_(2)-dominated oxidation was identified and non-radical mechanisms were ***,ST-DDLGC-based coin-type symmetrical supercapacitors exhibited outstanding electrochemical performance,with specific capacitances of up to 328.1 F g^(-1)at 0.5 A g^(-1),and cycling stability of up to 98.6%after 10,000 cycles at a current density of 2 A g^(-1).The superior properties of ST-DDLGCs could be attributed to the unique porous tubular structure,which facilitated mass transfer and presented numerous active *** results highlight ST-DDLGCs as a potential candidate for constructing inexpensive and advanced environmentally functional materials and energy storage devices.

Current status and trends in small nucleic acid drug development: Leading the future

Small nucleic acid drugs, composed of nucleotides, represent a novel class of pharmaceuticals that differ significantly from conventional small molecule and antibody-based therapeutics. These agents function by selectively targeting specific genes or their corresponding messenger RNAs (mRNAs), further modulating gene expression and regulating translation-related processes. Prominent examples within this category include antisense oligonucleotides (ASO), small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), microRNAs (miRNAs), and aptamers. The emergence of small nucleic acid drugs as a focal point in contemporary biopharmaceutical research is attributed to their remarkable specificity, facile design, abbreviated development cycles, expansive target spectrum, and prolonged activity. Overcoming challenges such as poor stability, immunogenicity, and permeability issues have been addressed through the integration of chemical modifications and the development of drug delivery systems. This review provides an overview of the current status and prospective trends in small nucleic acid drug development. Commencing with a historical context, we introduce the primary classifications and mechanisms of small nucleic acid drugs. Subsequently, we delve into the advantages of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (Fda) approved drugs and mainly discuss the challenges encountered during their development. Apart from researching chemical modification and delivery system that efficiently deliver and enrich small nucleic acid drugs to target tissues, promoting endosomal escape is a critical scientific question and important research direction in siRNA drug development. future directions in this field will prioritize addressing these challenges to facilitate the clinical transformation of small nucleic acid drugs.

High-performance Si/VO_(2)-nanorod heterojunction photodetector based on photothermoelectric effect for detecting human radiation

Progress on immuno-microenvironment and immune-related therapies in patients with pseudomyxoma peritonei

Pseudomyxoma peritonei(PMP) is an indolent malignant syndrome. The standard treatment for PMP is cytoreductive surgery combined with intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy(CRS + HIPEC). However, the high recurrence rate and latent clinical symptoms and signs are major obstacles to further improving clinical outcomes. Moreover, patients in advanced stages receive little benefit from CRS + HIPEC due to widespread intraperitoneal metastases. Another challenge in PMP treatment involves the progressive sclerosis of PMP cell-secreted mucus, which is often increased due to activating mutations in the gene coding for guanine nucleotide-binding protein alpha subunit(GNAS). Consequently, the development of other PMP therapies is urgently needed. Several immune-related therapies have shown promise, including the use of bacterium-derived non-specific immunogenic agents, radioimmunotherapeutic agents, and tumor cell-derived neoantigens, but a well-recognized immunotherapy has not been established. In this review the roles of GNAS mutations in the promotion of mucin secretion and disease development are discussed. In addition, the immunologic features of the PMP microenvironment and immune-associated treatments are discussed to summarize the current understanding of key features of the disease and to facilitate the development of immunotherapies.

Improving Thermal-oxidative Aging Resistance of Styrene-butadiene Rubber by Antioxidant Loaded Silica Aerogel

Many previous studies suggested that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2) infection elevated the risk of morbidity and 90-day mortality after operation, especially pulmonary complications [1–7]. Uncertainty about perioperative safety puts off the progress of elective surgery [8]. The Omicron variant has recently become the dominant variant causing prevalence in several countries [9]. Although a high rate of patients with Omicron presented asymptomatic status [10], it is still unclear whether Omicron infection would raise the risk of postoperative complications.

Environmental factors controlling soil warming and wetting during 2000-2020 in permafrost and non-permafrost regions across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)has experienced rapid environmental changes,including climate warming and wetting,since the *** environmental changes significantly impact the shallow soil hydrothermal conditions,which have key roles in land-atmosphere feedback and ecosystem ***,the spatial variations and responses of soil hydrothermal conditions to environmental changes over the QTP with permafrost(PF)and seasonal frost(SF)remain *** this study,we investigated the spatial variations in soil temperature(ST)and soil moisture(SM)changes over the QTP from 2000 to 2020 using 99 in-situ sites with observations at 4 depths(i.e.10,40,100 and 200 cm).The main environmental controlling factors were further identified using a calibrated statistical *** showed that significant(pdays and solar radiation(Srad)contributed most to soil warming in the PF region,whereas changes in rainfall,Srad and evaporation(EVA)have been identified as the key factors in the SF *** for soil wetting,changes in snowfall,freezing degree days and vegetation have noticeable nonlinear effects over the PF region,whereas changes in EVA,Srad and rainfall highlighted distinct linear and nonlinear effects in the SF *** findings enhance our understanding of the hydrothermal impacts of future environmental changes over the QTP.

Wettability and corrosion behavior between alkaline slag from sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite and refractory substrates

The sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite can achieve the comprehensive utilization of Fe,V,and ***,the generation of alkaline slag during this process may cause damage to refractory *** wettability and corrosion behavior of alkaline slag on three types of refractory(MgO-C,SiC,and high alumina refractory)substrates were investigated at temperatures up to 1200℃.The effects of duration on the wettability of molten slag on SiC substrates were also *** showed that the high alumina refractory exhibited better wettability with the molten slag than the others,and thus,it is easier to be *** results of scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy showed that MgO-C and high alumina refractory substrates were severely *** was a visible and regular interfacial reaction layer between the slag and SiC refractory substrate,which was produced by the redox reaction between the metal oxides in the slag and the SiC refractory *** the increase in holding time,the interface layer expands and silico-ferrite phases are generated at the *** redox reaction between Fe_(2)O_(3) and SiC substrate is the main reason for the *** comparing the differences in wettability and corrosion behavior between the alkaline slag from sodium smelting of vanadium-titanium magnetite and MgO-C,SiC and high alumina refractories,it is concluded that SiC refractory has good corrosion resistance to the *** oxides in the slag accelerate the oxidation rate of SiC refractory.
