Physiological Ef.ect of.Kinetin on the Photosynthetic Apparatus and Antioxidant Enzymes Activities During Production of.Anthurium

The results observed in the literature raise the hypothesis according to which cytokinin plays important roles in photosynthetic metabolisms and antioxidant enzymes. Thus, the study aimed to evaluate the ef.ect of.f.liar application of.the isolated cytokinin kinetin at the production cycle, seeking to analyze its ef.ects on enzyme activity and photosynthetic parameters. The plants treated with CK presented reduction of.leaf.CO_2 assimilation rate(Pn) and stomatal conductance(Gs), while that transpiration rate(Tr) was unaf.ected. The internal CO_2 concentrations decreased with the increase in cytokinin levels, but were maintained under CK 50 mg·L^(-1). The plants treated with CK 75 mg·L^(-1) was verif.ed higher carboxylation ef.iciency(Pn/Ci), which was associated to values of.CO_2 assimilation and transpiration unaltered. Apparent electron transport rate showed variations in the concentration of.25 mg·L^(-1). Considering the study of.enzyme activity, on the other hand, it cannot be stated that kinetin has an ef.ective action in delaying oxidative damage. It presents mixed results, since an ef.iciency in the application of.cytokinin was not observed, presenting induction levels of.ascorbate peroxidase activity. Thus, f.rther research is needed to determine more precisely the ef.ects of.kinetin on gas exchange and antioxidant enzymes in anthurium plants.

Rhizopus is f.ngus of.the order Mucorales, responsible f.r invasive diseases called mucormycosis. The correct identif.cation of.these f.ngi is one of.the main questions raised in the literature since the diagnosis is not simple, being the necessary detection in biopsies of.inf.cted tissues and isolation of.the microorganism f.r identif.cation by morphological and molecular methods. In vitro susceptibility testing results are not f.lly clear since there are reports showing that in vitro resistance does not always mean therapeutic f.ilure. This paper describes a case of.rhino-orbito-cerebral mucormycosis in a patient with alcoholic chronic pancreatitis and secondary mellitus diabetes involving microbiological diagnostic, antif.ngal susceptibility tests f.r conidia and hypha and clinical correlation. The causative agent was identif.ed by morphological characteristics and DNA sequencing. Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) f.r amphotericin B (AMB), itraconazole (ITZ) and terbinaf.ne (TERB) was determined by broth microdilution method. standardization of.the dynamic growth evaluation patterns using the automated system BCT (BioCell-Tracer?) was obtained allowing to determining hyphae growth control and evaluating the ef.ect of.dif.erent concentrations of.amphotericin B, itraconazole and terbinaf.ne directly on growing hyphae. The f.actional inhibitory concentration (f.C) f.r the combination of.the two antif.ngals that the patient received at the same time, terbinaf.ne and itraconazole, was also determined trying to correlate with clinical outcome. strains isolated of.retro-orbital abscess were identif.ed as Rhizopus oryzae. MIC results (MIC) testing conidia showed high sensibility to amphotericin B and itraconazole in comparison to the obtained f.r terbinaf.ne. The tests in the automated system BCT using hyphae showed sensibility to all tested antif.ngal agents and the f.C results f.r combination in vitro between terbinaf.ne and itraconazole showed synergism consisten

In 2019,an oil spill in Brazil,of.unknown origin,severely impacted coastal environs with the worst environmental disaster ever recorded in any tropical coastal region globally severely damaging south Pirangi Reef.area in the state of.Rio Grande do Norte(RN).Here we discuss acute and chronic impacts including chemical contamination and economic consequences all over the world and show some evidence of.the oil spill in this biodiverse ***,the lapse between the moment of.the disastei;and the action to manage it,was hampered by a political agenda coinciding with local and global tragedies that redirected public *** almost 2 years have passed still without the of.ending party identif.cation or culpability;and poor communities may continue to absorb its deleterious impacts f.r decades without consideration or *** disaster occurred during the Brazilian government's current issues involving extensive environmental mismanagement,resulting in a slow response f.om an inept *** is with urgent necessity to spotlight this tragedy in this unique and sensitive reef.habitat experiencing the ongoing damaging ef.ects that include socio-economic losses not yet addressed.

Objective. The inf.uence of.irradiation on the clinical severity of.incontinence, sphincter f.nction, morphologic f.atures and short/long-term treatment ef.ects of.sphincter training therapy is still insuf.iciently understood in irradiated patients with f.cal incontinence af.er surgery f.r colorectal cancer. These parameters were compared in irradiated and non-irradiated patients and f.llowed prospectively with regard to short-and long-term training ef.ects. Material an d methods. f.rty-one patients having been irradiated af.er surgery (50.0 ±5.0 Gy) and 54 non-irradiated patients with f.cal incontinence participated in this prospective, non-randomized trial. Baseline evaluation included a semiquantitative severity assessment score of.f.cal incontinence (modif.ed Cle veland Incontinence score (MCIs)), rectal manometry and endoscopy. Af.er 3 weeks (short term) of.intensive in-hospital pelvic f.oor exercise combined with biof.eedback training, a second evaluation was made. In addition, anal endosonography (EUs) was perf.rmed in cases of.treatment f.ilure. Af.er one year (long term) a third evaluation was made clinically (MCIs score). Results. Irradiated patients presented with a signif.cantly higher degree of.f.cal incontinence (lower MCIs) compared to non-irradiated patients: 7.4 ±2.2 versus 8.7 ±2.7 points (p sigmoidal inf.ammation was more f.equent in irradiated than non-irra diated patients (26.9%versus 9.3%) (p sphincter pressure, sensation/p ain threshold and the rectoanal inhibitory ref.ex were similar in both groups. A signif.cant short-term training ef.ect was observed in both groups f.llowing s phincter training therapy in terms of.an increase in MCIs f.om 7.4 ±2.2 to 9.4 ±2.7 points in the irradiated group and f.om 8.7 ±2.7 to 11.4 ±2.5 points in the non-irradiated group (p f.er one year the scores were 8.2 ±3.8 and 10.7 ±4.4 points, respectively (p s a signif.cant corre lation (p sel
