g>Introductiong>: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most common chronic inflammatory rheumatism. The increasing use of bone and joint ultrasound as a tool to aid in the detection of unrefined synovitis in developed countries, has led us to study the performance of ultrasound in the diagnosis of RA in subjects consulting in rheumatology at Cotonou. g>Study Method:g> descriptive cross-sectional study of patients with RA, selected on the basis of ACR/ EULAR 2010 criteria. A complete clinical examination with imaging including X-rays and ultrasounds of the hands and feet were performed in all patients who have given their consent. The data collected was analyzed using EPI data 3.1 and SPSS 24.0 software. The significance rate was defined with a p-value d to assess agreement. g>Results:g> All 53 patients included had lesions on ultrasound. Synovitis was found in 98.1% and bone erosions in 88.7%. There was no agreement in the wrists between clinical examination and ultrasound (k = -0.116), MCP (k = -0.097) and MTP (k = -0.031). Agreement was very low at the PPI level (k = 0.03). It was low at the different sites, between ultrasound and radiographic detection of lesions (k between 0.022 - 0.22). Age, positive immunologic RA factor and biological inflammatory syndrome were associated with ultrasound erosions (p = 0.0001) and only age was associated with active synovitis (p = 0.022). g>Conclusion:g> Bone and articular ultrasound is a good complementary alternative to clinical examination and radiography diagnostic in early diagnosis of RA in our developing countries, in the absence of MRI which remains a luxury.

g>Introduction:g> Tendinopathy of the thoracic limb (TMT) is frequent, and is responsible for an important socio-professional handicap. Medical imaging, in particular, ultrasound has a major role in contributing to the diagnosis. As the use of ultrasound is recent in osteoarticular pathology, especially in Africa, we proposed to determine the contribution of imaging in the diagnosis of tendinopathy of the thoracic limbs in a country with limited resources. g>Patients and Method:g> A descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study of patients with tendinopathy of the thoracic limb who consulted the rheumatology department of the CNHU-HKM of Cotonou from August 6, 2019 to October 6, 2019. We evaluated the concordance of thoracic limb tendinopathy between imaging (radiography and ultrasound) and the clinic on the one hand and then between radiography and ultrasound on the other hand. The analysis of the collected data was carried out with the Epi-info software version 7.***.1.0. Then the concordance was evaluated by the kappa coefficient. g>Results:g> Fifty- two (52) patients with 104 joints were evaluated. The average age was 54.92 ± 3.40 years. Clinically, rotator cuff tendinopathy was the most frequent abarticular pathology (45.19%). The clinical-ultrasound agreement was strong (k = 0.7527) for the shoulders, very strong (k = 0.9360) for the elbows and moderate for the wrists (k = 0.6695). The clinical-radiographic agreement was weak (k = 0.2316) at the shoulder level and very weak (k = 0.2087) at the elbow level. The radio-ultrasound agreement was very low in the shoulders (k = 0.1522), elbows (k = 0.1859) and wrists (k = 0.0001). g>Conclusion:g> The contribution of imaging in the diagnosis of TMT remains certain even in a country with limited resources like ours. Purpose: To compare the clinical and molecular diagnoses of Herpes Simplex Keratitis (HSK). Materials and Methods: Conjunctival swabs (after fluorescein and anaesthetic wash out) and detailed questionnaire data were obtained from 146 participants. Corneal rims and conjunctival epithelial cells were infected with Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) type 1 or HSV2 and supernatant collected. HSV1;HSV2;Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) and Adenovirus (AdV) dNA was assessed using two real time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) methods. Results: Of the 146 participants recruited, 54 were clinically diagnosed with typical epithelial lesions and 38 with atypical epithelial lesions, 17 with old inactive HSK and 37 healthy volunteers. HSV1 dNA was detected in 28 (30%) of the 92 participants with clinically suspect HSK. Patients who presented with typical epithelial lesions had a higher positive rate (46%) than those who presented with atypical type lesions (8%), when using primers against the glycoprotein (gp) g region of the virus. When the same samples were retested with primers against the gpB region, the positive rate for the typical and atypical cases increased to 52% and 11% respectively. Antiviral use at the time of sampling reduced the rate of PCR positivity by 20% (p dV dNA was detected in 6% of the typical cases and 8% of the atypical cases. All control participants with no history of HSK were negative for HSV1 dNA. Sample quantity was confirmed by testing for housekeeping control genes, beta-actin and beta-2 macroglobulin. PCR results from in vitro control investigations of HSV1 and 2 infected corneal rims and conjunctival epithelial cells were 100% positive for infected and 100% negative for uninfected samples when assessed using both PCR methods. Conclusions: Clinical diagnosis of typical HSK is not always confirmed by PCR. gradient echo T2. weighted MRI has high sensitivity in detecting cerebral mic robleeds, which appear as small dot like hypointense lesions. Microbleeds are s trongly associated with intracerebral haemorrhage, hypertension, lacunar stroke and ischaemic small vessel disease, and have generated interest as a marker of b leeding prone microangiopathy. Microbleeds have generally been considered to be clinically silent; however, since they are located in widespread cortical and b asal ganglia regions and are histologically characterized by tissue damage, we h ypothesized that they would cause cognitive dysfunction. We therefore studied pa tients with microbleeds (n = 25) and a nonmicrobleed control group (n = 30) matc hed for age, gender and intelligence quotient. To avoid the confounding effects of coexisting cerebrovascular disease, the groups were also matched for the exte nt of MRI visible white matter changes of presumed ischaemic origin, location o f cortical strokes, and for the proportion of patients with different stroke sub types (including lacunar stroke). A battery of neuropsychological tests was used to assess current intellectual function, verbal and visual memory, naming and p erceptual skills, speed and attention and executive function. Microbleeds were m ost common in the basal ganglia but were also found in frontal, parieto occipit al, temporal and infratentorial regions. There was a striking difference between the groups in the prevalence of executive dysfunction, which was present in 60 %of microbleed patients compared with 30%of non microbleed patients (P = 0.03 ). Logistic regression confirmed that microbleeds (but not white matter changes) were an independent predictor of executive impairment (adjusted odds ratio = 1. 32, 95%confidence interval 1.01 1.70, P = 0.04). Patients with executive dysfu nction had more microbleeds in the frontal region (mean count 1.54 versus 0.03; P = 0.002) and in the basal ganglia (mean 1.17 versus 0.32; P = 0.048). Ther

Viticulture,like other fields of agriculture,is currently facing important challenges that will be addressed only through sustained,dedicated and coordinated *** the methods used in biology have evolved tremendously in recent years and now involve the routine production of large data sets of varied nature,in many domains of study,including grapevine research,there is a need to improve the findability,accessibility,interoperability and reusability(FAIR-ness)of these *** the heterogeneous nature of the data produced,the transnational nature of the scientific community and the experience gained elsewhere,we have formed an open working group,in the framework of the International grapevine genome Program(***),to construct a coordinated federation of information systems holding grapevine data distributed around the world,providing an integrated set of interfaces supporting advanced data modeling,rich semantic integration and the next generation of data mining *** achieve this goal,it will be critical to develop,implement and adopt appropriate standards for data annotation and *** development of this system,the grapeIS,linking genotypes to phenotypes,and scientific research to agronomical and oeneological data,should provide new insights into grape biology,and allow the development of new varieties to meet the challenges of biotic and abiotic stress,environmental change,and consumer demand.
