chip-to-chip and world-to-chip fluidic interconnections are paramount to enable the passage of liquids between component chips and to/from microfluidic ***,most interconnect designs add additional physical constraints to chips with each additional interconnect leading to over-constrained microfluidic *** competing constraints provided by multiple interconnects induce strain in the chips,creating indeterminate dead volumes and misalignment between chips that comprise the microfluidic system.A novel,gasketless superhydrophobic fluidic interconnect(GSFI)that uses capillary forces to form a liquid bridge suspended between concentric through-holes and acting as a fluid passage was *** GSFI decouples the alignment between component chips from the interconnect function and the attachment of the meniscus of the liquid bridge to the edges of the holes produces negligible dead *** passive seal was created by patterning parallel superhydrophobic surfaces(water contact angle>150°)around concentric microfluidic ports separated by a *** relative position of the two polymer chips was determined by passive kinematic constraints,three spherical ball bearings seated in v-grooves.A leakage pressure model derived from the Young-Laplace equation was used to estimate the leakage pressure at failure for the liquid ***-molded,cyclic Olefin copolymer(cOc)chip assemblies with assembly gaps from 3 to 240μm were used to experimentally validate the *** maximum leakage pressure measured for the GSFI was 21.4 kPa(3.1 psig),which corresponded to a measured mean assembly gap of 3μm,and decreased to 0.5 kPa(0.073 psig)at a mean assembly gap of 240μ*** effect of radial misalignment on the efficacy of the gasketless seals was tested and no significant effect was *** may be a function of how the liquid bridges are formed during the priming of the chip,but additional research is required to test that hypothesis.

AIM:The rote of the sphincter of Oddi(SO)in ethanol (ETOH)-induced pancreatitis is *** aim was to characterise the effect of E-I-OH on basal and stimulated SO motility. METHOdS:SOs removed from white rabbits were placed in an organ bath(Krebs solution,pH7.4,37℃).The effects of 2 mL/L,4 mL/L,6 mL/L and 8 mL/L of ETOH on the contractile responses of the sphincter were determined. SOs were stimulated with either 0.1 μmol/L carbachol,1 μmol/L erythromycin or 0.1 μmol/L cholecystokinin(ccK). RESULTS:ETOH at a dose of 4 mL/L significantly decreased the baseline contractile amplitude from 11.98±0.05 mN to 11.19±0.07 ***,no significant changes in the contractile frequency were ***(0.6%) significantly decreased both the baseline amplitude and the frequency compared to the control group(10.50±0.01 mN, 12.13±0.10 mN and 3.53±0.13 c/min,5.5±0.13 cycles(c)/min, respectively).Moreover,0.8% of ETOH resulted in complete relaxation of the ***(0.1 μmol/L)or erythromycin (1 μmol/L)stimulated the baseline amplitudes(by 82% and 75%,respectively)and the contractile frequencies (by 150% and 106%,respectively).In the carbachol or erythromydn-stimulated groups 2-6 mL/L of E-IOH significantly inhibited both the amplitude and the ***, a 4-5 min administration of 6 mL/L ETOH suddenly and completely relaxed the ***(0.1 μmol/L)stimulated the baseline amplitude from 12.37±0.05 mN to 27.40±1.82 mN within 1.60±0.24 *** this peak,the amplitude decreased to 17.17±0.22 mN and remained constant during the *** frequency peaked at 12.8±0.2 c/min, after which the constant frequency was 9.43±0.24 c/min throughout the rest of the *** at a dose of 4 mL/L significantly decreased the amplitude from 16.13±0.23 mN to 14.93±0.19 ***,no significant changes in the contractile frequency were *** at a dose of 6 mL/L inhibited both the amplitudes and the frequencies in the ccK-stimulated group,while 8 mL/L of E

Severe Musculoskeletal Injuries in children during Play

Introduction: Musculoskeletal injuries are common in children but rarely severe. Their treatment varies according to the type of injury observed. The aim was to describe the epidemiological and therapeutic aspects of severe musculoskeletal injuries in children during play. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective descriptive study conducted in the Orthopaedic-Traumatology department and the Paediatric Surgery Unit of the University Hospital of Bouaké between January 2018 and december 2020. It concerned patients less than 16 years of age hospitalised for more than 24 hours for a musculoskeletal trauma following a gambling accident. The variables studied were epidemiological and therapeutic. Results: A total of 53 patients were collected. The frequency was 2.9%. The mean age was 9 ± 3.99 years. There were 38 (71.7%) boys and 15 (28.3%) girls. The sex ratio was 2.5. The patients were attending school in 79.3% (n = 42). The circumstances of occurrence were dominated by falls during play accidents (n = 35;66%). Football was observed in 93.5% (n = 49). The thoracic limb (n = 35;66%) was the preferred site of these injuries. The injuries were closed (86.7%) with a predominance of forearm fractures (n = 22;41.6%). The average hospital stay was 2.8 ± 1.4 days. Most of the patients were treated orthopedically (n = 37;69.9%). The evolution was favourable without complications. conclusion: Musculoskeletal injuries during play were infrequent (2.9%). The circumstances were dominated by falls during play. The injuries were mainly closed fractures, most of which were treated orthopedically.

Impact of grazing on germination trait selection in an alpine grassland on the Tibet Plateau

Previous studies indicated that grazing can cause significant changes in abiotic and biotic environment in ***,how these changes impact germination trait selection in grassland has not been well ***,we aimed to explore whether grazing can significantly change germination trait diversity and composition of grasslands *** measured the germination traits of species in the laboratory,and compared their performance in grazed and nongrazed ***,we compared the community-weighted means of germination traits and functional diversity of grazed and nongrazed grasslands based on these germination traits to know whether grazed and nongrazed grasslands differed in their germination trait *** the species level,we found that the changes of abundance in grazed and nongrazed grasslands were not related to species’germination ***,at the community level,compared with nongrazed grasslands,species in the grazed grasslands generally exhibited a higher seed germination ***,seed germination response in grazed grasslands was more positively related to alternating temperature than in nongrazed grasslands,and breadth of the germination temperature niche was narrower in grazed than in nongrazed *** with nongrazed grasslands,seed germination trait diversity was increased and germination trait evenness decreased in grazed *** can change microhabitat conditions,thereby changing germination trait selection by environmental filtering,resulting in a significant difference in germinate trait composition at the community level.

We report a significantly-enhanced bioinformatics suite and database for proteomics research called Yale Protein Expression database（YPEd） that is used by investigators at more than 300 institutions worldwide. YPEd meets the data management, archival, and analysis needs of a high-throughput mass spectrometry-based proteomics research ranging from a singlelaboratory, group of laboratories within and beyond an institution, to the entire proteomics community. The current version is a significant improvement over the first version in that it contains new modules for liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry（Lc–MS/MS） database search results, label and label-free quantitative proteomic analysis, and several scoring outputs for phosphopeptide site localization. In addition, we have added both peptide and protein comparative analysis tools to enable pairwise analysis of distinct peptides/proteins in each sample and of overlapping peptides/proteins between all samples in multiple datasets. We have also implemented a targeted proteomics module for automated multiple reaction monitoring（MRM）/selective reaction monitoring（SRM） assay development. We have linked YPEd＇s database search results and both label-based and label-free fold-change analysis to the Skyline Panorama repository for online spectra visualization. In addition, we have built enhanced functionality to curate peptide identifications into an MS/MS peptide spectral library for all of our protein database search identification results.

With the rising pressures on food security, GREENBOX technology was developed as an avenue for fresh leafy vegetable crop production in urban settings. GREENBOX units were designed to be thermally insulated and climate controlled, with an artificial lighting source that utilized soilless cultivation techniques. Previous studies conducted on GREENBOX technology used the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT);however, various hydroponic methods exist, such as the deep-Water culture (dWc) method being the most used. The APS Laboratory for Sustainable Food at Florida Gulf coast University (FGcU) compared the crop growth performance between dWc and NFT systems using GREENBOX technology. The following study monitored environmental conditions and compared productivity and biomass data of Rex Butterhead Lettuce crops between dWc and NFT systems. We assembled two GREENBOX units using commercially available materials and the standard nutrient solution for fertigation. The crops grown in dWc and NFT were in a 4 × 6 configuration. The dWc and NFT systems were used to grow Lettuce Lactuca sativa “Rex Butterhead” over 30 days to full bloom from prepared plugs grown for 14 days. We collected environmental data including Photosynthetic Photon Flux density (PPFd, μmol/m2∙s), daily Light Integral (dLI, mol/ m2∙d), temperature (˚c), relative humidity (%), and Vapor Pressure deficit (VPd, kPa). We collected lettuce crop growth data, which included wet weight (g), dry weight (g), leaf area (cm2), and chlorophyll concentration (μmol/m2). We derived data, including the Specific Leaf Area (SLA, cm2/g) and biomass productivity (kg/m2), from previously collected data. We used descriptive statistics to present the collected data. A paired t-test was performed to understand the differences in biomass and productivity parameters between the dWc and NFT-grown lettuce crops.
