The structural changes around a crack tip in a high density polyethylene were investigated by means of scanning synchrotron microfocus small-angle X-ray scattering technique. The scattering data confirm the process of craze structure development near a crack tip based on the evolution of voids. In addition, it was found that the main stress in the plastic zone near a crack tip exhibited a gradient distribution with respect to its strength and direction. The whole damaged area showed a strain distribution indicating a flow behavior toward the crack tip.

Large-area manufacturing of flexible nanoscale electronics has long been sought by the printed electronics ***,the lack of a robust,reliable,high throughput and low-cost technique that is capable of delivering high-performance functional devices has hitherto hindered commercial *** we report on the extensive range of capabilities presented by adhesion lithography(a-Lith),an innovative patterning technique for the fabrication of coplanar nanogap electrodes with arbitrarily large aspect *** use this technique to fabricate a plethora of nanoscale electronic devices based on symmetric and asymmetric coplanar electrodes separated by a nanogapdevices including self-aligned-gate transistors,radio frequency diodes and rectifying circuits,multi-colour organic light-emitting nanodiodes and multilevel non-volatile memory devices,can be fabricated in a facile manner with minimum process complexity on a range of *** compatibility of the formed nanogap electrodes with a wide range of solution processable semiconductors and substrate materials renders a-Lith highly attractive for the manufacturing of large-area nanoscale opto/electronics on arbitrary size and shape substrates.

AIM: To evaluate cut-off values and performance of acoustic radiation force impulse imaging (ARFI) using transient elastography [FibroScan■ (FS)] as a reference. METHOdS: Six hundred and six patients were enrolled in this *** patients underwent liver stiffness measurement with FS (FS-LS) and ARFI (with shear wave velocity quantification; ARFI-SWV) and the performance of ARFI in comparison to FS was determined. Sixtyeight patients underwent liver biopsy. RESULTS: Significantly higher success rates for the determination of liver stiffness were found using ARFI as compared to FS [604/606 (99.7%) vs 482/606 (79.5%); P d significantly with FS-LS (r = 0.920, P d significantly with the stage of fibrosis (1.09 ± 0.13 m/s for patients with no significant fibrosis (FS-LS d 2.55 ± 0.77 m/s for patients with liver cirrhosis (FS-LS > 13.0 kPa)). ARFI-SWV cut-off values were identified for no significant fibrosis (1.29 m/s; sensitivity 91.4% and specificity 92.6%) and for liver cirrhosis (1.60 m/s; sensitivity 92.3% and specificity 96.5%). The optimal cut-off value for predicting liver fibrosis (F ≥ 2) was 1.32 m/s (sensitivity 87.0% and specificity 80.0%) and for liver cirrhosis (F4) 1.62 m/s (sensitivity 100% and specificity 85.7%), for patients who underwent liver biopsy. An excellent inter-and intraobserver reproducibility was observed for ARFI-SWV determinations. CONCLUSION: An ARFI-SWV cut-off value of 1.29 m/s seems to be optimal for patients with no significant liver fibrosis and 1.60 m/s for patients with liver cirrhosis.

Given the central role of light in the algal photosynthesis,respiration,cell division,growth and the accumulation of value products,the effects of light-emitting diodes(LEds)light wavelengths(blue,white,red and green)were studied in Scenedesmus ***,residual nutrient amount,soluble protein,astaxanthin and reactive oxygen species,superoxide dismutase(SOd),catalase(CAT)and peroxidase(POd)activity were analyzed to determine the effects of different monochromatic light wavelengths via biochemical *** results showed that blue light wavelength is the optimal light wavelength for phosphorus removal efficiency and the accumulation of biomass and astaxanthin in ***,high reactive oxygen species content under the blue light might induce the accumulation of *** high activity of SOd,CAT and POd might participate in clearing the reactive oxygen species to facilitate the growth of ***,we found mixed blue/green lights treatment is the most appropriate mixture for the nitrogen *** the blue light treatment,high light intensity and 18L:6d light cycle is the best condition for biomass and astaxanthin *** nitrogen/phosphorus removal efficiency was observed under a 24L:0d light *** results might provide a foundational data for the optimizing the productivity of high-value metabolites and treatment of wastewater.

We report the properties of a compact diode-pumped continuous-wave Nd：GdV04 laser with a linear cavity and different Nd-doped laser crystals. In a 0.2at.% Nd-doped Nd：GdVO4 laser, 1.54 W output laser power is achieved at 912nm wavelength with a slope efficiency of 24.8% at an absorbed pump power of 9.4W. With 0.3at.% Nd-doping concentration, we can obtain the either single-wavelength emission at 1064nm or 912nm or the dual-wavelength emission at 1064nm and 912nm by controlling the incident pump power. From an incident pump power of 11.6 W, the 1064nm emission between ^4Fa/2 and ^4I11/2 is suppressed completely by the 912nm emission between ^4Fa/2 and ^4I9/2. We obtain 670 mW output of the 912nm single-wavelength laser emission with a slope efficiency of 5.5% by taking an incident pump power of 18.4 W. Using a Nd：GdV04 laser with 0.4at.% Nd-doping concentration, we obtain either the single-wavelength emission at 1064nm or the dual-wavelength emission at both 1064nm and 912nm by increasing the incident pump power. We observe a strong competition process in the dualavelength laser.

Graphene’s unparalleled strength,chemical stability,ultimate surface-to-volume ratio and excellent electronic properties make it an ideal candidate as a material for membranes in micro-and nanoelectromechanical systems(MEMS and NEMS).However,the integration of graphene into MEMS or NEMS devices and suspended structures such as proof masses on graphene membranes raises several technological challenges,including collapse and rupture of the *** have developed a robust route for realizing membranes made of double-layer CVd graphene and suspending large silicon proof masses on membranes with high *** have demonstrated the manufacture of square graphene membranes with side lengths from 7µm to 110µm,and suspended proof masses consisting of solid silicon cubes that are from 5µm×5µm×16.4µm to 100µm×100µm×16.4µm in *** approach is compatible with wafer-scale MEMS and semiconductor manufacturing technologies,and the manufacturing yields of the graphene membranes with suspended proof masses were>90%,with>70%of the graphene membranes having>90%graphene area without visible *** measured resonance frequencies of the realized structures ranged from tens to hundreds of kHz,with quality factors ranging from 63 to *** graphene membranes with suspended proof masses were extremely robust,and were able to withstand indentation forces from an atomic force microscope(AFM)tip of up to~*** proposed approach for the reliable and large-scale manufacture of graphene membranes with suspended proof masses will enable the development and study of innovative NEMS devices with new functionalities and improved performances.

Background A novel circular pulmonary vein ablation catheter （PVAC） has been introduced for pulmonary vein isolation （PVI）.Accurate delineation of left atrium-pulmonary vein （LA-PV） anatomy is important for this *** aim of this study was to test whether the 3-dimensional rotational angiography （3d RTA） of the left atrium can facilitate PVI using PVAC *** Twenty patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation （AF） were enrolled in this *** 3d RTA was reconstructed and registered with live fluoroscopy in all the *** ablation was performed with a PVAC catheter in the navigation of registered 3d *** The 3dRTA image was successfully reconstructed and registered with live fluoroscopy in all patients （100%）.The LA-PV anatomy was delineated clearly in all *** of the PVAC inside the registered 3d RTA,ensured accurate placement within the atrium to perform ablation,and the PVAC was correctly placed inside the PV ostium to verify the *** the PVs were *** procedural time was （87.5±12.1） minutes,and fluoroscopy time was （20.1±6.3） ***-up after （7.1±1.5） months showed freedom from AF in 70% （14/20） *** PV stenosis was *** Intraprocedure reconstructed and registered 3d RTA can clearly delineate the LA-PV anatomy in *** results demonstrate the feasibility and reliability of combining use of 3dRA and PVAC in AF ablation procedures.
