Objective: To compile available data and to estimate the burden, characteristics and risks factors of cutaneous leishmaniasis(CL) in Mali. Methods: Articles in English and French were searched in Hinari, Google scholar and PubM ed. Unpublished studies were identified by searching in ***. Terms used were Cutaneous leishmaniasis Mali; Leishmaniasis Mali, Leishmania major Mali; or Phlebotomus Mali or Sergentomyia Mali. We select descriptive studies on CL and sandflies in Mali. data were extracted and checked by the author, then analyzed by region, by study population and type of biological tests, meta-analysis approach with STATA software was used. Results: Nineteen published(n=19) and three unpublished were included. CL epidemiology was characterized by occurrence of clinical cases in different areas of Mali, outbreaks restricted to known areas of transmission and isolated cases diagnosed in travelers. In endemic areas, population at risk are young age persons, farmers, ranchers, housewives, teachers and military personnel. The annual incidence ranged from 290 to 580 cases of CL. Leishmania major is the main species encountered throughout the country(North Savanna, Sahel and Sub-Saharan areas), and Phlebotomus duboscqi has been identified as the vector and Sergentomyia(Spelaeomyia)darlingi as possible vector. The overall estimated prevalence of positive LST(Leishmanin Skin Test) was 22.1%. The overall frequency of CL disease among suspected cases was 40.3%. Conclusions: Although descriptive, hospital-based and cross-sectional studies are robust enough to determine the extent of CL in Mali; future well-designed eco-epidemiological studies at a nationwide scale are needed to fully characterize CL epidemiology and risk factors in Mali.

Alzheimer’s disease(Ad)is progressive and ultimately fatal,with current drugs failing to reverse and cure *** study aimed to find plant species which may provide therapeutic bioactivities targeted to causal agents proposed to be driving Ad.A novel toolkit methodology was employed,whereby clinical symptoms were translated into categories recognized in *** categories were applied to find plant species with therapeutic effects,mined from ethnomedical *** locations were mapped to assess how this data is at *** were found of therapeutic relevance to 15 hypothesised causal bases for Ad.107 species with an ethnological report of memory improvement demonstrated therapeutic activity for all these 15 causal *** majority of the surveys were found to reside within biodiversity hotspots(centres of high biodiversity under threat),with loss of traditional knowledge the most common *** findings suggest that the documented plants provide a large resource of Ad thera-peutic *** demonstrating bioactivities targeted to these causal bases,such plants may have the capacity to reduce or reverse Ad,with promise as drug leads to target multiple Ad ***,there is a need to preserve ethnomedical knowledge,and the habitats on which this knowledge depends.

despite decades of research, at present there is no curative therapy for Alzheimer＇s disease. Changes in the way new drugs are tested appear to be necessary. Three changes are presented here and will be discussed. The first change is that Alzheimer＇s disease must be considered a disease of four major pathological processes, not one. The four processes are： 1） vascular hy- poperfusion of the brain with associated mitochondrial dysfunction, 2） destructive protein inclusions, 3） uncontrolled oxidative stress, and 4） proinflammatory immune processes second- ary to microglial and astrocytic dysfunction in the brain. The second change recommended is to alter the standard cognitive measurement tools used to quantify mental decline in test patients. Specifically the dementia Severity Rating Scale （dSRS） should supersede Mini-Mental State Examination （MMSE） and other popular tests, and a measurement scale developed in research should be used to produce a linear and non-irregular baseline. Finally, accepting the concept that four etiologies cause Alzheimer＇s disease leads to the last necessary change, that new thera- pies must be employed directed against all four causes, likely as a combination. There are drugs ready to be employed in such a combinations which are available and used clinically for other purposes so can be used ＂offlabel＂ and one such combination is suggested.

Cancer metastasis is largely incurable and accounts for 90%of breast cancer deaths,especially for the aggressive basal-like or triple negative breast cancer(TNBC).Combining patient database analyses and functional studies,we examined the association of integrin family members with clinical outcomes as well as their connection with previously identified microRNA regulators of metastasis,such as miR-206 that inhibits stemness and metastasis of *** we report that the integrin receptor Cd49b-encoding ITGA2,a direct target of miR-206,promotes breast cancer stemness and ***2 knockdown sup-pressed self-renewal related mammosphere formation and pluripotency marker expression,in-hibited cell cycling,compromised migration and invasion,and therefore decreased lung metastasis of breast ***2 overexpression reversed miR-206-caused cell cycle arrest in *** sequencing analyses revealed that ITGA2 knockdown inhibits genes related to cell cycle regulation and lipid metabolism,including CCNd1 and ACLY as representative targets,*** of CCNd1 or ACLY inhibits mammosphere formation of breast cancer *** of CCNd1 rescues the phenotype of ITGA2 knockdown-induced cell cycle ***-encoded ATP citrate lyase is essential to maintain cellular acetyl-CoA ***1 knockdown further mimics 1TGA2 knodkdown in abolishing lung colonization of breast cancer *** identified that the low levels of miR-206 as well as high expression levels of 1TGA2,ACLY and CCNd1 are associated with an unf avor able relapse-free survival of the pa-tients with estrogen receptor-negative or high grade breast cancer,especially basal-like or TNBC,possibly serving as potential biomarkers of cancer stemness and thera peutic targets of breast cancer metastasis.

Background: T-lymphocyte dysfunction has been seldom investigated in collagen vascular disorders. The search for dominant T-cell clones has been scarcely reported, although the presence of such clones might be expected in disorders showing immune responses directed against a variety of autoantigens. Objectives: We conducted a systematic search for dominant T-cell clones in peripheral blood in patients with collagen vascular disorders. Patients and methods: Ninety-seven patients with collagen vascular disorders were studied (7 cutaneous and 38 systemic lupus erythematosus; 8 multiple morphea; 12 regional scleroderma; 32 systemic sclerosis of the CREST type). A dominant T-cell clone was searched for in peripheral blood by polymerase chain reaction targeting the T-cell receptor γchain followed by a size analysis of amplified fragments. Peripheral blood from patients with nonlymphocyte-dependent disorders and matched by age and sex was assessed in the same conditions. Results in both groups were compared using nonparametric statistical tests. Results: Overall, a circulating dominant T-cell clone was found in 52%of patients compared with 16.9%in controls. More precisely, such a dominant clone was present in 43%and 37%of cutaneous and systemic lupus erythematosus, respectively, in 75%of multiple morphea, 75%of regional scleroderma and 60%of CREST syndrome patients. The percentages in all subsets of patients were significantly higher than in the control group. Conclusions: The presence of a dominant T-cell clone in peripheral blood is significantly more frequent in collagen vascular disorders than in controls, especially in patients with scleroderma, whatever the clinical subset, which suggests T-cell involvement in the immune response dysfunction in these diseases classically characterized by disturbances of B lymphocytes.
