Kinetics of glyphosate and aminomethylphosphonic acid sorption onto montmorillonite clays in soil and their translocation to genetically modified corn

Under warm temperatures, plants adj.st their morphologies for environmental adaption via precise gene expression regulation. However, the function and regulation of alternative polyadenylation (APA), an important fine-tuning of gene expression, remains unknown in plant thermomorphogenesis. In this study, we found that SUMOylation, a critical post-translational modification, is induced by a long-term treatment at warm temperatures via a SUMO ligase SIZ1 in Arabidopsis. disruption of SIZ1 altered the global usage of polyadenylation signals and affected the APA dynamic of thermomorphogenesis-related genes. CPSF100, a key subunit of the CPSF complex for polyadenylation regulation, is SUMOylated by SIZ1. Importantly, we demonstrated that SUMOylation is essential for the function of CPSF100 in genome-wide polyadenylation site choice during thermomorphogenesis. Further analyses revealed that the SUMO conj.gation on CPSF100 attenuates its interaction with two isoforms of its partner CPSF30, increasing the nuclear accumulation of CPSF100 for polyadenylation regulation. In summary, our study uncovers a regulatory mechanism of APA via SIZ1-mediated SUMOylation in plant thermomorphogenesis. Copyright © 2024 The Author. Published by Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

This paper presents a new computational method for forward uncertainty quantification(UQ)analyses on large-scale structural systems in the presence of arbitrary and dependent random *** method consists of a generalized polynomial chaos expansion(GPCE)for statistical moment and reliability analyses associated with the stochastic output and a static reanalysis method to generate the input-output data *** the reanalysis,we employ substructuring for a structure to isolate its local regions that vary due to random *** allows for avoiding repeated computations of invariant substructures while generating the input-output data *** substructuring with static condensation further improves the computational efficiency of the reanalysis without losing ***,the GPCE with the static reanalysis method can achieve significant computational saving,thus mitigating the curse of dimensionality to some degree for UQ under high-dimensional *** numerical results obtained from a simple structure indicate that the proposed method for UQ produces accurate solutions more efficiently than the GPCE using full finite element analyses(FEAs).We also demonstrate the efficiency and scalability of the proposed method by executing UQ for a large-scale wing-box structure under ten-dimensional(all-dependent)random inputs.

Eight novel clerodane diterpenoids (1−8) were isolated from the twigs of Casearia graveolens. Their structures were elucidated through comprehensive nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS), and electronic circular dichroism (ECd) analyses. In addition to structural determination, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) assays were conducted to investigate molecular interactions, revealing that compound 8 exhibited high affinity for vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), a key regulator of tumor angiogenesis. Subsequent in vivo experiments demonstrated that compound 8 effectively inhibited angiogenesis and displayed significant antitumor activity by suppressing tumor proliferation and metastasis in zebrafish xenograft models. These findings suggest that compound 8 holds promise as an anticancer lead compound targeting VEGFR-2 to obstruct tumor angiogenesis. © 2024 China Pharmaceutical University

Three novel sesterterpenoids glasesterterpenoids A−C (1−3), featuring an unprecedented 7-cyclohexyldecahydronaphthalene carbon skeleton, were isolated from the root of Lindera glauca (L. glauca). Their structures were elucidated by quantum chemical calculations and spectroscopic methods. The biogenetic pathway for 1−3 is proposed. In the bioassay, glasesterterpenoid C exhibited dNA topoisomerase 1 (Top1) inhibitory activity compared with the positive control, camptothecin. These findings represent the first examples of sesterterpenoids with a 7-cyclohexyldecahydronaphthalene carbon skeleton from the root of L. glauca. © 2024 China Pharmaceutical University
