Long-Term Impact of Acute Retinoic Acid Supplementation at the Young Age on Testicular Architecture of Wistar Albino Rats

Introduction: Inappropriate and excess vitamin supplementation, particularly for vitamin A, is increasingly recognized as a public health problem in developed countries. On the other hand, blind supplementation of vitamin A, for children in developing countries is a subject of controversy in the literature. The crucial role of vitamin A in the process of spermatogenesis in adult rodents is well established, but only a few publications are consecrated to the long-term effect of vitamin A intake at a young age on testicular development and differentiation. Objectives: Our study aimed to evaluate the long-term effects of acute supplementation at an early age, in the post-natal period, on spermatogenesis and testicular trophicity at adult age. Material and Methods: Young Wistar Albinos rats of 22 days received an acute high dose of supplementation of vitamin A (retinyl palmitate). The control group, group 1, received only extra virgin olive oil, Group 2 a dose of 7000 IU/kg of retinyl palmitate, group 3, 14,000 IU/kg, and Group 4 a dose of 28,000 IU/kg. At 10 weeks of age, the testes’ testosterone levels were measured by ELISA. For histological assessment, sections were stained with Hematoxylin eosin, and the Johnsen score was used to evaluate spermatogenesis in the seminiferous tubules. Results: The average testicular weights of rats were significantly lower in group 4 (p d so was the testosterone level in the testis compared to the control group (p .01). Most of the seminiferous tubules were concerned by an arrest of spermatogenesis and the Johnsen score was decreased with a mean score of 5.96 ± 1.60 (p .001) in that Group. In Group 3, Johnsen’s score was significantly better than the one obtained with the control. Eyelid Wounds: Epidemiological, Clinical and Etiological Aspects

Purpose: The aim is to show epidemiological, clinical and etiological characteristics of palpebral wounds. Methodology: This was a retrospective study focusing on patients with an eyelid wound, over a 10-year period from 2012 to 2021. We collected and analyzed the data using Excel. Results: The frequency of eyelid wounds was 0.1%. The average age of our patients was 19.38 years with a range of 1 and 62 years. The sex ratio was 3.7. Eighty-one percent of patients lived in dakar. Fifty-seven percent (57%) of patients consulted less than 24 hours after the trauma and 7% of patients on d1. The circumstances were brawls (11%), domestic accidents (9%), road accidents (6%), and work accidents (6%). We noted 1 case of dog bite. Thirteen patients presented with post-traumatic decreased visual acuity. Involvement of the isolated upper eyelid was noted in 40% of cases and both eyelids in 15% of cases. Involvement of the lacrimal ducts was noted in 17% of cases, and that of the free edge in 21% of cases. Eyelid wounds were associated with eyeball damage in 21% of cases. Various associated lesions were observed. Ninety-one percent of patients received surgical treatment. Three cases of superinfections, 1 case of conjunctival granuloma and 1 case of phthysis of the eyeball with postoperative retinal detachment were noted. Conclusion: Eyelid sores are relatively common in our context. They require rapid surgical treatment in order to preserve the functional and aesthetic prognosis. .

Experimental Study on Young′s Modulus of Concrete

Theoretical Investigation of Small Lathanum Carbide Clusters

LaC2+, LaC22+, LaC3 and LaC3- clusters have been studied using B3LYP density functional method. Four isomers with C-2v, C-s, C-infinity v and d-infinity h symmetry were presented for LaC2+ and LaC22+. Meanwhile, two spin states, namely, singlet and triplet for LaC2+, doublet and quartet for LaC22+ were considered The results indicated that ring isomers with C-2v and C-s symmetry are the most stable for La-C2(+) at both spin states and for LaC22+ at quartet state. Whereas for LaC22+ at doublet state, linear isomer with C-infinity v symmetry is energetically favored, For LaC3 and LaC3- clusters,, three isomers have been presented for each cluster, that is, two ring isomers with C-2v symmetry ( in one of them, La forms two single bonds with two carbons, and in another, La forms a double bond with carbon), and one linear isomer with C-infinity v symmetry. The results revealed that the ring isomer in which La forms two single bonds with carbons is the lowest in energy.

A High-order Coupled Compact Integrated RBF Approximation Based domain decomposition Algorithm for Second-order differential Problems

This paper presents a high-order coupled compact integrated RBF(CC IRBF)approximation based domain decomposition(dd)algorithm for the discretisation of second-order differential *** Schwarz dd algorithms,including one-level additive/multiplicative and two-level additive/multiplicative/hybrid,are *** CCIRBF based dd algorithms are analysed with different mesh sizes,numbers of subdomains and overlap sizes for Poisson *** convergence analysis shows that the CCIRBF two-level multiplicative version is the most effective algorithm among various schemes employed ***,the present CCIRBF two-level method converges quite rapidly even when the domain is divided into many subdomains,which shows great promise for either serial or parallel *** practical tests,we then incorporate the CCIRBF into serial and parallel two-level multiplicative *** numerical examples,including those governed by Poisson and Navier-Stokes equations are analysed to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the serial and parallel algorithms implemented with the *** results show:(i)the CCIRBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms have the capability to reach almost the same solution accuracy level of the CCIRBF-Single domain,which is ideal in terms of computational calculations;(ii)the CCIRBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms are highly accurate in comparison with standard finite difference,compact finite difference and some other schemes;(iii)the proposed CCIRBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms may be used as alternatives to solve large-size problems which the CCIRBF-Single domain may not be able to deal *** ability of producing stable and highly accurate results of the proposed serial and parallel schemes is believed to be the contribution of the coarse mesh of the two-level domain decomposition and the CCIRBF *** is noted that the focus of this paper is on the derivation of highly accurate serial and parallel algorithms

Annona senegalensis is a savannah species present in the wild in tropical and sub-tropical African regions. It is used by the local populations for its many economic, pharmacological, nutritional and ecological interests. However, the strong pressure exerted on this species as well as the increasing degradation of the ecosystems, in which it evolves, seriously compromise its sustainability and development. Conventional methods of vegetative propagation are not sufficient to ensure its durable regeneration and the renewal of endemic populations in Senegal. In this context, it was undertaken in vitro propagation, from 30 days old juvenile seedlings. Thus, axillary, cotyledonary and apical nodes were in vitro cultured in Murashige and Skoog (1962) medium (MS), with different concentrations of cytokinins and/or auxins. BAP used alone at 2 mg•L−1 proved to be more beneficial for micropropagation of different types of explants compared to Kinetin used alone or in combination with BAP, especially for axillary and cotyledonary nodes. The BAP-NAA combination allowed to have a better elongation of newly formed shoots. For shoots of apical and cotyledonary nodes origin, a rhizogenic induction of 5 days, with IBA at 25 mg•L−1, resulted in a better rooting rate with, respectively, 75% (for 2.22 roots) and 66.67% (for 4.17 roots). For newly formed shoots of axillary origin, a 24-hour rooting induction with IBA at 50 mg•L−1 gave a rooting rate of 58.33% (for 2.4 roots). After 30 days of acclimatization, the survival rate was 75% for the young plants from the apices and 83.33% for those originating from the cotyledonary and axillary nodes. This protocol can therefore be adopted for the in vitro clonal propagation of A. senegalensis juvenile material.
