Objective:To investigate the cardioprotective effect of beta-glucan against isoproterenol-induced cardiotoxicity in rats,and elucidate the underlying ***:Rats were orally pretreated with beta-glucan(40 mg/kg body weight)for 30 d,and isoproterenol(20 mg/100 g body weight)was administered on days 31 and *** effects of beta-glucan on markers of cardiac injury,hemodynamic changes,production of proinflammatory cytokines,and the corresponding mRNA expressions were *** addition,histological analysis was ***:pretreatment with beta-glucan prevented isoproterenol-induced cardiac injury by preserving the structural and functional integrity of the plasma membrane and attenuating the production of proinflammatory cytokines(NF-κB,TNF-α,IL-6,IL-1β,and IFN-γ)in the ***,beta-glucan significantly downregulated the mRNA expression of ACE,AT1R,TNF-α,IL-6,NF-κB,caspase-3,TLR-4,and Bax,and upregulated Bcl-2 in the *** the same time,pretreatment with beta-glucan alleviated myocardial damage as reflected in a reduction in myonecrosis,edema,and erythrocyte extravasation with almost imperceptible ***:Beta-glucan can protect against isoproterenol-induced cardiotoxicity by attenuating cardiac inflammation and apoptosis and regulating the ACE-AT1R axis,thereby preventing cardiac remodeling.

Background High dietary carbohydrates can spare protein in rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss)but may affect growth and ***,a prebiotic,could have nutritional and metabolic effects,along with anti-inflammatory properties in teleosts,improving growth and *** tested this hypothesis in rainbow trout by feeding them a 100%plant-based diet,which is a viable alternative to fishmeal and fish oil in aquaculture *** a two-factor design,we examined the impact of inulin(2%)as well as the variation in the carbohydrates(CHO)/plant protein ratio on rainbow *** assessed the influence of these factors on zootechnical parameters,plasma metabolites,gut microbiota,production of short-chain fatty acids and lactic acid,as well as the expression of free-fatty acid receptor genes in the mid-intestine,intermediary liver metabolism,and immune markers in a 12-week feeding *** The use of 2%inulin did not significantly change the fish intestinal microbiota,but interestingly,the high CHO/protein ratio group showed a change in intestinal microbiota and in particular the beta diversity,with 21 bacterial genera affected,including Ralstonia,Bacillus,and 11 lactic-acid producing *** were higher levels of butyric,and valeric acid in groups fed with high CHO/protein diet but not with *** high CHO/protein group showed a decrease in the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines(il1b,il8,and tnfa)in liver and a lower expression of the genes coding for tight-junction proteins in mid-intestine(tjp1a and tjp3).However,the 2%inulin did not modify the expression of plasma immune ***,inulin induced a negative effect on rainbow trout growth performance irrespective of the dietary *** With a 100%plant-based diet,inclusion of high levels of carbohydrates could be a promising way for fish nutrition in aquaculture through a protein sparing effect whereas the supplementation of 2%inulin does not appear to improve the use of CHO wh

Adverse reactions to mesalamine,a treatment used to induce and maintain remission in inflammatory bowel diseases,particularly ulcerative colitis,have been described in the literature as case *** case illustrates an unusual adverse *** patient developed an isolated fever of unexplained etiology,which was found to be related to mesalamine treatment.A 22-year-old patient diagnosed with ulcerative colitis developed a fever with rigors and anorexia 10 d after starting oral mesalamine while his colitis was clinically *** revealed no infection.A mesalamineinduced fever was considered,and treatment was stopped,which led to spontaneous resolution of the *** diagnosis was confirmed by reintroducing the *** year later,this side effect was noticed again in the same patient after he was administered topical *** reaction to mesalamine seems to be idiosyncratic,and the mechanism that induces fever remains *** encountered in the course of a mesalamine treatment in ulcerative colitis must be considered a mesalamine-induced fever when it cannot be explained by the disease activity,an associated extraintestinal manifestation,or an infectious etiology.

A flexible carbon fiber-confined yolk-shelled silicon-based composite is reported as an anode material for lithium storage *** nanoparticles(Si Nps)are confined by the N-doped hollow carbon cages(SiNHC)and these uniform dispersed yolk-shell-structured Si-NHC units were encapsulated by the carbon fibers within an interconnected three-dimensional(3d)framework(Si-NHC@CNFs).For the encapsulated yolkshelled Si-NHC,the void space between the inner Si Nps and outer NHC can accommodate the structural changes of Si Nps during charging/discharging processes,leading to effectively improved structural stability and cycling *** importantly,all the Si-NHC units were bridged together through a conductive CNFs"highway"to enhance the overall conductivity and tap density *** observed,Si-NHC@CNFs exhibited an initial discharge capacity of 1364.1 mAh·g^(-1)at 1000 mA·g^(-1)and678.9 mAh·g^(-1)at 2000 mA·g^(-1).Furthermore,the reversible capacity was well maintained at 752.2 mAh·g^(-1)at500 mA·g^(-1)after 6000 ultra-long cycles.

Integrated switches play a crucial role in the development of reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers(ROAdMs)that have greater flexibility and compactness,ultimately leading to robust single-chip *** decades of research on switches with various structures and platforms,achieving a balance between dense integration,low insertion loss(IL),and polarization-dependent loss(pdL)remains a significant *** this paper,we propose and demonstrate a 32×4 optical switch using high-index doped silica glass(HdSG)for ROAdM *** switch is designed to route any of the 32 inputs to the express ports or drop any channels from 32 inputs to the target 4 drop ports or add any of the 4 ports to any of the 32 express *** switch comprises 188 MachZehnder Interferometer(MZI)type switch elements,88 optical vias for the 44 optical bridges,and 618 waveguidewaveguide crossings with three-dimensional(3d)*** 1550 nm,the fiber-to-fiber loss for each express channel is below 2 dB,and across the C and L bands,below 3 *** each input channel to all 4 drop/add channels at 1550 nm,the loss is less than 3.5 dB and less than 5 dB across the C and L *** pdLs for all express and input channels to the 4 drop/add channels are below 0.3 dB over the C band,and the crosstalk is under−50 dB for both the C and L bands.
