Numerical Solution of Casson Fluid Flow under Viscous dissipation and Radiation Phenomenon

This article numerically investigates the 2d, steady, laminar, incompressible fluid flow, mass and heat transfer of a non-Newtonian fluid model induced by stretching surface. A Casson fluid model is considered to study the non-Newtonian behavior of the flowing fluid. The magnetic field and a porous medium are considered in the flow momentum, whereas the viscous dissipation is also taken into account in the energy transport phenomena. To see the fluid concentration, the concentration equation is used. Furthermore, the Nusselt number coefficient and skin friction are modified with the addition of nonlinear stretching and radiation parameters. With the similarity transformation, the nonlinear governing partial differential equations are transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations and then numerically solved using a fourth-order Runge-Kutta scheme with the shooting method. The relevant parameters of interest are interpreted for graphical results. The results illustrate that the fluid energy increases effectively with an increase in the Eckert number, radiation parameter, and heat source parameter, while it decreases by increasing the Prandtl number and heat sink parameter. Both the wall skin friction and the wall Nusselt number coefficient decelerate with an increase in the Casson parameter.

Biodiesel production from green seaweed Ulva fasciata catalyzed by novel waste catalysts from Pakistan Steel Industry

This research article is based on the biodiesel synthesis from the marine green macroalga Ulva fasciata, collected from the coast of Karachi, Pakistan using new and the most potential waste catalysts from Pakistan Steel *** oil was extracted with n-hexane then it was analyzed by GC, TLC and by the examination of fuel *** metal analysis of catalysts was carried out by chemical tests and flame atomic absorption spectroscopy(FAAS). The thermal treatment of catalysts at 1500–1700 °C during various processes in steel manufacturing industry converted the metals to metal oxides. The presence of CaO, MgO and ZnO in these catalysts made them highly reactive for biodiesel synthesis. The basicity of waste industrial catalysts was calculated to know their basic strength. The transesterification of U. fasciata oil was performed by fast stirring using 9:1 molar ratio of methanol/oil in the presence of seven different waste industrial catalysts for 6 h at 80–100 °C. The solid catalysts were easily separated from product for re-use. In addition, the rate of reaction in the presence of these catalysts was found to be quite feasible. The waste brown dust from the steel converter gave the highest yield(88%) of biodiesel. The production of biodiesel was confirmed by TLC examination and fuel properties in comparison with the ASTM standards.

AIM To compare health-related quality of life(HRQoL),anxiety, depression, and impulsivity scores in patients with and without carcinoid syndrome(CS), and correlated them with serum 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid(5-HIAA) *** Patients with advanced gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours(GEPNET), with and without CS completed HRQoL QLQ-C30 and ***21, Hospital Anxiety and depression Scale(HAdS) and Barratt Impulsivity Scale(BIS) questionnaires. Twosample Wilcoxon test was applied to assess differences in serum 5-HIAA levels, two-sample Mann-Whitney U test for HRQoL and BIS, and proportion test for HAdS, between those with and without *** Fifty patients were included; 25 each with and without CS. Median 5-HIAA in patients with and without CS was 367 nmol/L and 86 nmol/L, respectively(P = 0.003). Scores related to endocrine symptoms were significantly higher amongst patients with CS(P = 0.04) and scores for disease-related worries approached significance in the group without CS, but no other statistically-significant differences were reported between patients with and without CS in responses on QLQ-C30 or ***21. Fifteen patients(26%) scored ≥ 8/21 on anxiety scale, and 6(12%) scored ≥ 8/21 on depression scale. There was no difference in median 5-HIAA between those scoring differences between groups in first or second-order factors(BIS) or total sum(P = 0.23).CONCLUSION Excepting endocrine symptoms, there were no significant differences in HRQoL, anxiety, depression or impulsivity between patients with advanced GEPNET, with or without CS. Over one quarter of patients had high anxiety scores, unrelated to peripheral serotonin metabolism.

Effects of soil mechanical properties on the height and tractive performance of rubber grouser at different moisture contents

Rubber tracked vehicles are commonly used on agricultural machinery that perform agricultural operations such as rice harvesting in soft paddy fields with low bearing *** was carried out to assess the influence of soil moisture content and mechanical properties on the tractive performance of a rubber grouser with three heights(45 mm,55 mm,60 mm).The direct shear test and penetration test were used in this study,which was based on a semi-empirical approach of determining tractive *** shear tests were used to measure soil shear strength parameters such as cohesion,adhesion,internal and exterior friction *** results of the penetration test were used to determine tractive parameters such as soil thrust,running resistance,and traction,for the penetration test,a device was designed and *** experimental results revealed that soil cohesion and adhesion increased linearly with increasing soil moisture content,however adhesion dropped after 30.7%.Similarly,the soil thrust initially increased till 21.5%then ***,running resistance had a decreasing trend over soil moisture content whereas maximum traction achieved for 45 mm grouser height at 21.5%moisture *** was concluded that a rubber grouser with 45 mm height had better traction rather than 55 mm and 60 mm,it can be suitably used for designing a track system for a crawler vehicle(e.g.,harvester)leading to its greater adoption among the farmers.

Evaluation of potential RNA-interference-target genes to control cotton mealybug, Phenacoccus solenopsis （Hemiptera： Pseudococcuidae）

RNA interference （RNAi） of vital insect genes is a potential tool for targeted pest control. However, selection of the right target genes is a challenge because the RNAi efficacy is known to vary among insect species. Cotton mealybug, Phenacoccus solenopsis, is a phloem-feeding economically important crop pest. We evaluated the RNAi of 2 vital genes, Bursicon （PsBur） and V-ATPase （Ps V-ATPase） as potential targets in P. solenopsis for its control. PCR fragments of PsBur and PsV-ATPase were amplified using cdNA synthesized from the total RNA. The PCR amplicons were cloned into Potato virus X （PVX） to develop recombinant PVX for the inoculation ofNicotiana tabacum plants for bioassays with healthy P. solenopsis. Reverse-transcription-polymerase chain reaction （RT- PCR） was used to validate the expression oftransgenes in the recombinant-PVX-inoculated plants （treated）, and suppression of the target genes in the mealybugs exposed to them. The RT-PCR confirmed the expression of transgenes in the treated plants. Mealybug individuals on treated plants either died or showed physical deformities. Further, the population of mealybug was significantly reduced by feeding on N. tabacum expressing RNAi triggers against PsBur and Ps V-A TPase. The results conclude that RNAi is activated in P. solenopsis by feeding on N. tabacum expressing RNAi triggering elements of PsBur and Ps V-ATPase genes through recombinant PVX vector. Further, V-ATPase and Bursicon genes are potential targets for RNAi-mediated control ofP. solenopsis.

A Bit-level Text Compression Scheme Based on the ACW Algorithm

This paper presents a description and performance evaluation of a new bit-level, lossless, adaptive, and asymmetric data compression scheme that is based on the adaptive character wordlength （ACW（n）） algorithm. The proposed scheme enhances the compression ratio of the ACW（n） algorithm by dividing the binary sequence into a number of subsequences （s）, each of them satisfying the condition that the number of decimal values （d） of the n-bit length characters is equal to or less than 256. Therefore, the new scheme is referred to as ACW（n, s）, where n is the adaptive character wordlength and s is the number of subsequences. The new scheme was used to compress a number of text files from standard corpora. The obtained results demonstrate that the ACW（n, s） scheme achieves higher compression ratio than many widely used compression algorithms and it achieves a competitive performance compared to state-of-the-art compression tools.

CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing has emerged as a powerful biotechnological tool,that relies on Cas9 protein and single guided RNA(sgRNA)to edit target ***,the lack of safe and efficient delivery carrier is one of the crucial factors restricting its clinical ***,we report an ionizable lipid nanoparticle(iLP181,pKa=6.43)based on iLY1809 lipid enabling robust gene editing in vitro and in *** iLP181 effectively encapsulate psgPLK1,the best-performing plasmid expressing for both Cas9 protein and sgRNA targeting Polo-like kinase 1(PLK1).The iLP181/psgPLK1 nanoformulation showed uniformity in size,regular nanostructure and nearly neutral zeta potential at pH *** nanoformulation effectively triggered editing of PLK1 gene with more than 30%efficiency in HepG2-Luc ***181/psgPLK1 significantly accumulated in the tumor for more than 5 days after a single intravenous *** addition,it also achieved excellent tumor growth suppression compared to other nucleic acid modalities such as siRNA,without inducing adverse effects to the main organs including the liver and *** study not only provides a clinically-applicable lipid nanocarrier for delivering CRISPR/Cas system(even other bioactive molecules),but also constitutes a potential cancer treatment regimen base on dNA editing of oncogenes.
