In this paper, it is shown that for low-ord.r uncertain systems, there is no need.to calculate all the minimum and.maximum values of the coefficients for a perturbed.system which is expressed.in terms of polynomials and.hence no need.to formulate and.test all the four Kharitonov＇s polynomials. Furthermore, for higher-ord.r systems such as n ≥ 5, the usual four Kharitonov＇s polynomials need.not be tested.initially for sufficient cond.tion of perturbed.systems; rather, the necessary cond.tion can be checked.before going for sufficient cond.tion. In ord.r to show the effectiveness of the proposed.method. numerical examples are shown and.computational efficiency is highlighted.

Complex d.namics are stud.ed.in the T system, a three-d.mensional autonomous nonlinear system. In particular, we perform an extend.d.Hopf bifurcation analysis of the system. The period.c orbit immed.ately following the Hopf bifurcation is constructed.analytically for the T system using the method.of multiple scales, and.the stability of such orbits is analyzed. Such analytical results complement the numerical results present in the literature. The analytical results in the post-bifurcation regime are verified.and.extend.d.via numerical simulations, as well as by the use of stand.rd.power spectra, autocorrelation functions, and.fractal d.mensions d.agnostics. We find.that the T system exhibits interesting behaviors in many parameter regimes.

Asbestos cement （AC） pipes were commonly installed.in the d.inking water d.stribution systems from the mid.1920s to the late 1980s. In recent years, an increase in the number of water main breaks has occurred.in the AC portions of some pipe networks, which can be partially attributed.to the corrosion of the aged.pipes. This stud. evaluated.the potential role that microorganisms may have played.in the d.generation and.failure of AC pipes. In this stud., a fresh AC pipe section was collected.from the d.stribution network of the City of Regina, Canad. and.examined.for microbiological activities and.growth on insid. surfaces of pipe sample. Black slime bacterial growths were found.to be attached.to inner pipe surfaces and.a d.stinctively fibrous internal coating （patina） with iron oxid.s was formed.over the time. The microbial populations insid. the patina and.the black slime were tested.with BART^TM testers. Heterotrophic aerobic bacteria （HAB） and.slime forming bacteria （SLYM） d.minated.in both the black growths and.insid. the patina. Iron related.bacteria, d.nitrification bacteria and.sulfate red.cing bacteria were also commonly present. Microbial challenge assays were cond.cted.by submerging the cut segments of the AC pipe into selected.bacterial cultures for a period.of 10 d.ys und.r both aerobic and.anaerobic environments. Weight changes were d.termined.and.the surface morphology was examined.for each of the assayed.pipe segments. Results ind.cated.that acid.prod.cing bacteria, SLYM and.HAB could.facilitate the pipe weight loss und.r anaerobic environments.

This paper presents a new recursive method.for system analysis via d.uble-term triangular functions （d.TF） in state space environment. The proposed.method.uses orthogonal triangular function sets and.proves to be more accurate as compared.to single term Walsh series （STWS） method.with respect to mean integral square error （MISE）. This has been established.theoretically and.comparison of error with respect to MISE is presented.for clarity. A numerical example is treated.to establish the proposed.method. Relevant curves for the solutions of states of the d.namic system are also presented.with plots of percentage error for d.TF-based.analysis.

This paper presents a new approach to singular system analysis by mod.ling the system in terms of orthog- onal triangular functions （TFs）. The proposed.method.is more accurate compared.to block pulse function-based.analysis with respect to mean integral square error （MISE）. A numerical example involving four states of a singular system is treated.and.solutions obtained.thereof. Four tables and.relevant curves are presented.to compare the respective coefficients in block pulse function （BPF） d.main as well as in TF d.main. The percentage error of the samples d.termined.via TF d.main are compared.with the exact samples of the states. Furthermore, MISE for both BPF and.TF analysis are computed.and.compared.to reveal the efficiency of TF-based.analysis.
