The d.velopment, prod.ction and.utilization of renewable energy, energy storage and.green hyd.ogen and.the associated.technologies in Sri Lanka have great potential to contribute to the United.Nations' Sustainable d.velopment Goals (Sd.s). The island.aims to achieve 70% electricity generation from renewable energy sources by 2030 (within the target of 40% utilization of renewable energy sources for the entire energy generation of the country by 2030). The power sector has to invest US$11 billion from 2023 to 2030 to contribute to reaching this target. This commentary aims to provid. a critical perspective on the recommend.tions of the report from the National Science and.Technology Commission's 9th biennial conference in 2023 on science and.technology, the sub-thematic technical report on clean energy, energy storage and.green hyd.ogen in line with the Sd.s in the Sri Lankan context. The technical report provid.s insightful recommend.tions for Sri Lanka's energy sector und.r three main sections: renewable energy, energy storage and.green hyd.ogen. Also, it explores the potential of various renewable energy sources, energy storage systems and.green hyd.ogen as sustainable solutions to ad.ress the country's energy challenges while emphasizing the spillover effects of them, which could.contribute to the enterprise's job creation and.uplift the economy. This commentary provid.s a critical perspective on clean energy, energy storage and.green hyd.ogen in line with the United.Nations Sd.s in the Sri Lankan context based.on a recent report from the National Science and.Technology Commission of Sri Lanka. Relational and.Euclid.an Temporal Space

In mathematics, space encompasses various structured.sets such as Euclid.an, metric, or vector space. This article introd.ces temporal space—a novel concept ind.pend.nt of trad.tional spatial d.mensions and.frames of reference, accommod.ting multiple object-oriented.d.rations in a d.namical system. The novelty of build.ng temporal space using finite geometry is rooted.in recent ad.ancements in the theory of relationalism which utilizes Euclid.an geometry, set theory, d.mensional analysis, and.a causal signal system. Multiple ind.pend.nt and.co-existing cyclic d.rations are measurable as a network of finite one-d.mensional timelines. The work aligns with Leibniz’s comments on relational measures of d.ration with the ad.ition of using d.screte cyclic relational events that d.fine these finite temporal spaces, applicable to quantum and.classical physics. Ancient formulas have symmetry along with d.visional and.subd.visional ord.rs of operations that create d.screte and.ord.red.temporal geometric elements. Elements have cyclically conserved.symmetry but unique cyclic d.mensional quantities applicable for anchoring temporal equivalence relations in linear time. We present both fixed.equivalences and.expand.d.period. of temporal space offering a non-Greek calend.r method.logy consistent with ancient global timekeeping d.scriptions. Novel applications of Euclid.s d.vision algorithm and.Cantor’s pairing function introd.ce a novel paired.function equation. The mathematical d.scription of finite temporal space within relationalism theory offers an alternative d.screte geometric method.logy for examining ancient timekeeping with new hypotheses for Egyptian calend.rs.

One of the most important parameters in meteorology is the mean wind.pro fi le in the tropical cyclone bound.ry layer. The vertical pro fi le of wind.speed.and.wind.d.rection were measured.d.ring the period.of the Nisarga cyclone from May 31st, 2020, to June 5th, 2020, using the newly installed.phased.Array d.ppler Sod.r system at the Center for Space and.Atmospheric Science (CSAS), Sanjay Ghod.wat University, Kolhapur (16.74 d.grees N, 74.37 d.grees E; near Ind.a ' s western coast). Our analysis revealed.that the maximum mean wind.speed.was 17 m/s on June 3, 2020, at 10:00 IST. It also shows the change in wind.d.rection from southwest to southeast on June 2 and.3, 2020. d.ily high-resolution reanalysis d.ta in the d.main, 0 - 25 d.grees N, 65 - 110 d.grees E, d.ring the period.from May 31st to June 5th, 2020, revealed.the variation of the atmospheric pressure of the Nisarga cyclone from 1000 to 1008 hpa, sea surface temperature (SST) between 30 d.grees C and.31 d.grees C, outgoing longwave rad.ation (OLR) between 100 and.240 Wm-2 , wind.speed.between 3 and.15 m/s, and.low values of vertical wind.shear (VWS) were observed.to the north of Nisarga track. These observations may provid. more insights for the stud. of bound.ry layer turbulence d.ring cyclonic activities. A paper analytical d.vice (pAd. was d.veloped.for the colourimetric estimation of alkaline phosphatase (ALp). ALp catalyzes the hyd.olysis of d.sod.um phenyl phosphate (d.pp) to phenol, which then und.rgoes oxid.tive coupling with4-aminoantipyrine (4-AAp) prod.cing a red.ish brown-coloured.quinone imine. The colourimetric reaction tested.in solution has been translated.onto a pAd.for the point of care (poC) testing of ALp. A uniform colour was obtained.in 25 min with the introd.ction of ALp onto the reagent d.op cast paper d.vice. The images obtained.by scanning the pAd.were processed.using ImageJ software. The colour intensity obtained.by image processing was proportional to the concentration of ALp present in the sample. ALp in serum and.saliva samples were tested.using the pAd.in the range of 0 to 528 U/L and. to 187 U/L, respectively. The interference stud.es revealed.that the pAd.was selective to ALp in the presence of other biomolecules. The pAd.exhibited.a limit of d.tection (LOd. of 3.3 U/L and.a sensitivity of 48.36 a.u/Log(U/L) for serum ALp and.LOd.of 1.69 U/L and.a sensitivity of 28.5 a.u/Log (U/L) for salivary ALp. The pAd.showed.good.agreement with the clinical method. for real samples.

The electrochemical CO_(2) red.ction reaction(CO_(2)RR) to controllable chemicals is consid.red.as a promising pathway to store intermittent renewable energy. Herein, a set of catalysts based.on copper-nitrogend.ped.carbon xerogel(Cu-N-C) are successfully d.veloped.varying the copper amount and.the nature of the copper precursor, for the efficient CO_(2)RR. The electrocatalytic performance of Cu-N-C materials is assessed.by a rotating ring-d.sc electrod.(RRd.), technique still rarely explored.for CO_(2)RR. For comparison, prod.cts are also characterized.by online gas chromatography in a H-cell. The as-synthesized.Cu-NC catalysts are found.to be active and.highly CO selective at low overpotentials(from -0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 M KHCO_(3), while H_(2) from the competitive water red.ction appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. RHE). The optimum copper acetate-d.rived.catalyst containing Cu-N_(4) moieties exhibits a CO_(2)-to-CO turnover frequency of 997 h^(-1) at -0.9 V vs. RHE with a H_(2)/CO ratio of 1.8. These results d.monstrate that RRd. configuration can be used.as a feasible approach for id.ntifying electrolysis prod.cts from CO_(2)RR.
