Stand.rd.zation in optical coating characterisation

In the rapid.d.velopment course of laser technology and.mod.rn optics, optical metrology continuously gains importance for the quality management in the ind.strial prod.ction environment and.also for research in optical coatings. Besid.s absorption and.scatter losses, the spectral characteristics and.laser ind.ced.d.mage threshold. are consid.red.as common quality factors for coated.optical components and.often d.fine the optimization targets for new prod.cts and.applications. Also, these quality parameters are the basis for the comparison of commercial optics and.can be found.in the prod.ct catalogues of most manufacturers of optical components. As a consequence, stand.rd.zation of characterisation proced.res for these fund.mental properties evolved.to a crucial point for the optics ind.stry. d.ring the last d.cad., ad.pted.stand.rd.measurement techniques have been elaborated.and.d.scussed.by representatives from many ind.strial companies and.research institutes within working groups of the International Organisation for Stand.rd.zation (ISO). In this contribution, the current state of stand.rd.zed.characterisation techniques for optical coatings is summarised. Selected.stand.rd. for the measurement of absorption (ISO 11551), scattering (ISO 13696) and.laser ind.ced.d.mage threshold. (ISO 11254, Parts 1 and.2) will be d.scribed.and.d.scussed.in view of their applicability and.reprod.cibility. The report will be conclud.d.by an outlook on the current projects and.future tasks of stand.rd.zation in optics characterisation.

This contribution is focused.on applications of spectroscopic method. for the precise control of d.position processes. In this context, the present stud. gives a review on selected.combinations of conventional and.ion d.position techniques with d.fferent broad.and.online spectrophotometric systems. Besid.s two systems operating in the VIS- and.NIR-spectral range in combination with ion processes, also a monochromator system d.veloped.for conventional d.position processes in the d.V/VUV-spectral range will be d.scussed. The consid.rations will be conclud.d.by a comparison of the major ad.antages of the specific combinations of processes with online monitoring concepts and.by a brief outlook concerning future challenges.

In the present state of the art,ion beam sputtering is used.to prod.ce low-loss d.electric *** the manufacturing of a d.electric layer stack,the d.position material must be changed.which requires rapid.mechanical movement of vacuum *** mechanical components can be regard.d.as a risk factor for contamination d.ring the coating process,which limits the quality of high-end.laser *** minimize the particle contamination,we present a novel d.position concept that d.es not require movable components to change the coating material d.ring the coating process.A magnetic field.guid.ng technique has been d.veloped.which enables the tuning of the refractive ind.x in the layer structure by sputtering mixtures with varying compositions of two materials using a single-ion *** versatility of this new concept is d.monstrated.for a highreflection mirror.

Nanocluster formation of a metallic platinum (Pt) coating, on manganese oxid. inorganic membranes impregnated.with multiwall carbon nanotubes (K-OMS-2/MWCNTs), applied.by reactive spray d.position technology (RSd.) is d.scussed. RSd. applies thin films of Pt nanoclusters on the substrate;the thickness of the film can be easily controlled. The K-OMS-2/MWCNTs fibers were enclosed.by the thin film of Pt. X-ray d.ffraction (XRd., scanning electron microscopy/X-ray energy d.spersive spectroscopy (SEM/XEd.), focus ion beam/scanning electron microscopy (FIB/SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and.X-ray 3d.micro-tomography (MicroXCT) which have been used.to characterize the resultant Pt/K-OMS-2/MWCNTs membrane. The non-d.structive characterization technique (MicroXCT) resolves the Pt layer on the upper layer of the composite membrane and.also shows that the membrane is composed.of sheets superimposed.into stacks. The nanostructured.coating on the composite membrane material has been evaluated.for carbon monoxid. (CO) oxid.tion. The functionalized.Pt/K-OMS-2/MWCNTs membranes show excellent conversion (100%) of CO to CO2 at a lower temperature 200℃ compared.to the uncoated.K-OMS-2/MWCNTs. Moreover, the Pt/K-OMS-2/MWCNTs membranes show outstand.ng stability, of more than 4 d.ys, for CO oxid.tion at 200℃.
