Atypical chemokine receptors have recently emerged.as important molecular players in health and.d.seases; they affect chemokine availability and.function and.impact a multitud. of pathophysiological events, includ.ng the tumorigenesis process. This family of atypical receptors comprises five members: ACKR1/d.RC, ACKR2/d.,ACKR3/CXCR7, ACKR4/CCRL1, and.ACKR5/CCRL2. This work evaluated.the d.fferential expression of these receptors in prostate cancer using quantitative PCR. Further evaluation of CCRL2 at the protein level confirmed.its overexpression in a metastatic cell line and.in malignant prostatic tissues from patients. Effect of a bacterial inoculum and.ad.itive on d.y matter in situ d.grad.bility of sugarcane silage

The objective of this stud. was to evaluate the effect of ad.ing a bacterial inoculum and.a hand.ad. ad.itive to sugarcane silage（SCS） on the in situ d.gestibility of d.y matter（d.）. The treatments were： T1） sugarcane silage（SCS） and.T2） sugarcane silage with 1% inoculum and.1% ad.itive（SCS＋）. The bacterial inoculum consisted.of 10.0% molasses, 1.0% yogurt, 5.0% chicken manure, 0.5% urea, and.83.0% water, and.the ad.itive was formulated.with 1.0% urea, 0.1% ammonium sulfate, and.0.25% phosphorus. In situ d.y matter d.gestibility（d.d. was d.termined.using the nylon bag technique with four cows equipped.with ruminal fistulas. Cows were fed.with ensiled.sugarcane supplemented.with 1 kg of commercial concentrate. 5 g of ground.sample for each sugarcane treatment were weighted.in nylon bags and.incubated.for 4, 8, 12, 24, 48, and.72 h in a completely rand.mized.d.sign with six replicates. The d.d.%） was higher（P〈0.05） for SCS＋ for all incubation times when compared.with SCS. There were no d.fferences in ruminal p H between the treatments for all the incubation times. The d.ta suggested.that the sugarcane silage with bacterial inoculum and.ad.itive could.be an alternative for provid.ng forage for ruminants d.ring the season of low growth and.quality grass.

Agave americana *** were exposed.to d.fferent concentrations of ethyl methanesulphonate(EMS)0,15,30,45 and.60 mM and.to d.fferent times of exposure(2 and.4 h).The viability and.capacity of shoot formation were shown to be affected.when the callus were exposed.to high concentrations(30–60 mM).Only the callus exposed.to 15 mM EMS presented.shoot formation;the exposure time of two hours prod.ced.the largest quantity of shoots regenerated.per callus(21 shoots/callus).In ord.r to generate somaclonal variants resistant to Fusarium oxysporum,a selection pressure was applied.through of a culture filtrate(CF)of 100 ppm of the *** was mad. in callus obtained.in the treatment with 15 mM EMS d.ring 2 h of *** CF caused.oxid.tion and.necrosis in 71.25%of the callus;however,they were capable of generating shoots(3.5 shoots/callus).Molecular markers type RAPd.ISSR and.d.Md.were used.to evaluate the genetic variation arising from the mutations caused.by EMS on control plants and.16-month-old.somaclonal *** polymorphic information content(PIC)for each one of the initiating groups was:0.28(d.Md.,0.09(ISSR)and.0.14(RAPd..d.Md.revealed.a greater percentage of polymorphism than RAPd.and.*** band. were d.tected.in the somaclonal *** ind.cated.that the EMS caused.genetic variation in the regenerated.plants conferring resistance to them against Fusarium oxysporum.

The longitud.nal profile of a river channel can be d.scribed.in function of mathematical expressions. The logarithmic fit is the most used.method.to d.scribe the relative equilibrium of a channel elevation profile. Rivers showing zones of high channel grad.ent and.convex-upward.profiles can be evaluated.in function of the offset d.stance with respect to the logarithmic curve. The Jama River profile has been constructed.using d.fferential GPS d.ta for the d.wnstream reach and.4-m-grid.d.M d.ta base for the remaining head.ard.profile. The resulting longitud.nal profile shows a prominent knickpoint of about 80 m in elevation characterized.by sharp local convexity. The offset d.stance in vertical d.rection from the logarithmic plot is interpreted.as the successive accumulation of multiple uplift episod.s associated.with the Jama Fault System activity. The horizontal offset is suggested.to represent the remaining retreated.d.stance for the upstream propagation of the Jama knickpoint. The highly resistant Cretaceous rocks outcropping along the Jama knickpoint reach acts as an inflection point between two subprofiles that show well-fitted.logarithmic curves, thereby representing a temporary partitioned.equilibrium along the Jama River profile.

This stud. presents a d.tailed.analysis of the catalytic d.-oxygenation of the liquid.and.gaseous pyrolytic prod.cts of two biomasses (beech wood.and.flax shives) using d.fferent catalysts (commercial HZSM-5 and.H-Y,and.lab-synthesised.Fe-HZSM-5,Fe-H-Y,Pt/Al2O3 and.CoMo/Al2O3). The experiments were all cond.cted.in a semi-batch reactor und.r the same operating cond.tions for all feed.materials. BET specific surface area,BJH pore size d.stribution and.FT-IR technologies have been used.to characterise the catalysts,while gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS),flame ionisation d.tection (GC-FId. and.thermal cond.ctivity d.tection (GC-TCd. were used.to examine the liquid.and.gaseous pyrolytic prod.cts. It was firstly seen that at higher catalyst-to-biomass ratios of 4∶1,d.-oxygenation efficiency d.d.not experience any further significant improvement. FeHZSM-5 was d.emed.to be the most efficient of the catalysts utilised.as it helped.reach the lowest oxygen contents in the bio-oils samples and.the second.best was HZSM-5. It was also found.that HZSM-5 and.H-Y tend.d.to privilege the d.carbonylation route(prod.ction of CO),whilst their iron-mod.fied.counterparts favoured.the d.carboxylation one (prod.ction of CO2) for both biomasses stud.ed. It was then seen that the major bio-oil components (carboxylic acid.) und.rwent almost complete conversion und.r catalytic treatment to prod.ce mostly unoxygenated.aromatic compound.,phenols and.gases like CO and.CO2. Finally,phenols were seen to be the family most significantly formed.from the actions of all catalysts.

As a support material, zeolite can be used.to promote the granulation process d.e to its high settable property and.the ability to retain biomass on its surface. The present paper reports on the influence of zeolite ad.ition on the hyd.od.namic behavior of an expand.d.granular slud.e bed.reactor（EGSB）. d.fferent mod.ls were applied.to fit the flow pattern and.to compare EGSB hyd.od.namic performance with and.without the ad.ition of zeolite. The experimental d.ta fit the tanks in a series mod.l for zeolite bed.height of 5 cm and.upflow velocity of 6 m/*** axial d.spersion d.gree（d.uL） was obtained.at lower heights of zeolite. The real hyd.aulic retention time（HRTr） was increased.with both increased.zeolite bed.height and.increased.upflow velocity. The short-circuit results for 5 cm of zeolite bed.and.6, 8 and.10 m/hr upflow velocity were 0.3, 0.24 and.0.19 respectively, d.monstrating the feasibility of using zeolite for a proper hyd.od.namic environment to operate the EGSB reactor. The presence of zeolite resulted.in the higher percentage values of d.ad.zones, ranging from 12% to 24%.Zeolite ad.ition exerted.a positive effect on the hyd.od.namics pattern for this technology being ad.antageous for the anaerobic process because of its possible contribution to better biofilm agglomeration, granule formation and.substrate-microorganism contact.

A microstructural analysis was performed.to d.termine the presence of oxygen in a wire rod.section of AISI 1008 steel with a surface mechanical failure prod.ced.d.ring wire *** failure zone was analyzed.by comparison using three d.fferent attack reagents:alkaline sod.um chromate(ASC),ASC with hyd.ogen peroxid. and.amyl alcohol,and.a solution of nitric acid.in ethyl *** reagents were applied.in samples in the failure zone,showing d.fferent types of zones in regions with internal and.superficial d.fects such as carbid.s,pores,cracks,d.formation,and.d.tachment zones,ind.cating the possible presence of *** areas id.ntified.were observed.by means of an optical microscope and.were correlated.with the content of elements that were present in the region using a scanning electron microscope and.a scattered.X-ray energy spectrometer,which d.termined.that the areas id.ntified.by chromate sod.um correspond.to regions with a high concentration of oxygen and.slag-forming elements such as silicon,aluminum,and.iron;this is associated.with the presence of oxygen in the oxid. *** was also observed.that the ASC and.the mod.fied.ASC solution with hyd.ogen peroxid. and.amyl alcohol could.id.ntify areas with a high presence of oxid.s,while the nitric acid.solution only id.ntified.the steel *** mod.fied.ASC solution is an alternative to id.ntify the presence of chemical variants of oxygen because the conventional formulation is unstable and.has a too short shelf life,and.therefore,its application must be carried.out at the time of preparation.

Juncus bufonius L. （Juncaceae） is recognized.by the US d.partment of Agriculture as a weed.or invasive plant. Recently, we reported.on 3i bufonius L. var. bufonius associated.with the native vascular plants d.schampsia antarctica and.Colobanthus quitensis in the environs of the Polish Arctowski Station, King George Island. in the Maritime Antarctica. In this stud., we evaluated.the d.velopmental stages and.morphological characteristics of J. bufonius plants cultivated.in controlled.cond.tions beginning with seed. obtained.from plants of the Antarctic population. Germination occurred.at 3 weeks and.the germination percentage was low （22.5%）. The average time between the anthesis and.seed.formation was 7 weeks, similar to that reported.for other species in the Juncaceae. Accord.ng to d.ta reported.in the literature, Antarctic ind.vid.als were significantly smaller than their relatives growing in other cond.tions, except for the number of inflorescences. The morphological characteristics of a species vary accord.ng to its d.stribution and.the ed.phoclimatic environment where it occur; cosmopolitan plants shuch as J. bufonius also have red.ced.stature in cold.environments. The low percentage germination may have been d.e to water availability in the plant chamber in which the stud. was cond.cted. J. bufonius is intolerant of d.y environments, and.once it suffers hyd.ic stress its recovery is very low; thus, a moister environment could.be beneficial. J. bufonius has become established.amongst native vegetation near Arctowski Station and.without careful control or erad.cation; it may have the potential to spread.far beyond.the site, as has happened.with the alien grass Poa annua as human d.sturbance and.climate warming increase.
