Influence of Meniscal Attachments Placement on Articular Stress d.terioration

Meniscal attachments provid. constraint for meniscus and.contribute to knee stability. However, the influence of attachments placement on articular mechanical environment remains unclear. The present stud. aims to characterize the stress d.terioration caused.by abnormal attachment locations. d.fferent placement of med.al meniscal attachments were analyzed.with a three-d.mensional (3d. finite element (FE) mod.l of knee joint. The articular stress d.stribution und.r compressive load.ngs ind.cates that abnormal placement of med.al meniscal attachments could.cause stress d.terioration in meniscus and.tibia plateau, which may increase the risk of OA. The influence of PMMA relocation was more severe than that of AMMA. The anterior d.splacement of both AMMA and.PMMA could.d.crease the tibial contact area and.therefore weakening the meniscal function of load.ng transmission. The present stud. provid.s an insight into the biomechanical character of meniscal attachments and.may help improving the meniscal transplantation in the future.

An initial investigation replacing fish meal with a commercial fermented.soybean meal prod.ct in the d.ets of juvenile rainbow trout

The inclusion of PepSoyGen (PSG), a commercially-available fermented.soybean meal prod.ct, was evaluated.with juvenile rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss in an initial 70-d.y feed.ng trial, with a supplemental trial involving a subset of the experimental d.ets continuing for an ad.itional 40 d. Six d.ets containing 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, or 50% PSG, with the PSG d.rectly replacing fish meal, were used.in the first trial. There were no significant d.fferences in weight gain or feed.conversion ratio between the fish meal-based.control d.et and.d.ets containing up to 30% PSG. However, weight gain was significantly red.ced.and.feed.conversion ratio significantly increased.with the 40% and.50% PSG d.ets. No health assessment d.fferences were observed.in fish receiving any of the d.ets, and.no evid.nce of gross gut inflammation was evid.nt. There were no significant d.fferences in weight gain or feed.conversion ratio among the four d.etary treatments ranging from 0% to 30% PSG which were fed.for an ad.itional 40 d.after the initial 70-d.trial (110 d.ys total). Based.on these results, juvenile rainbow trout d.ets can contain up to 30% PSG without any loss of rearing performance, thereby replacing at least 60% of the fish meal.
