A field.experiment was c.nd.c.ed.from 2002-2005 on a sand. c.ay loam red.and.lateritic.soil und.r irrigation in a farmer＇s field.at Senk.pur （Lat. 23°36.79′ N, Long. 87°38.14′E, Elev. 46 m AMSL）, Birbhum, West Bengal, Ind.a. The objec.ive was to provid. the temporal c.anges of weed.d.versity and.d.nsity, ec.logy, and.impac. of rotational c.opping systems on d.fferent c.ops und.r d.uble and.triple c.opping systems with improved.（IP） and.farmer＇s pac.ages （FP）. There was signific.ntly higher weed.d.nsity in FP than in IP on all years. Grasses and.sed.es were more in vegetable-based.rotational systems; but grasses and.broad.leaf weed. （BLWs） were more in ric.-based.rotational systems. The lowest weed.population was in vegetable-based.systems. Grasses inc.eased.in ric.-based.systems but grad.ally d.c.eased.in vegetable-based.systems in subsequent years. Sed.e d.nsity was higher in vegetable- than in ric.-based.rotational systems. d.nsity of BLWs was higher but that of sed.es was lower in ric.-based.rotational systems as c.mpared.to vegetable-based.systems. d.nsity of BLWs grad.ally d.c.eased.in all rotational systems over the years in both pac.ages. d.nsity of weed. d.c.eased.grad.ally in subsequent years ind.c.ting the positive effec. of rotational systems on suppression of weed.. Results ind.c.te that the weed.d.nsity c.n be red.c.d.through jud.c.ous d.versified.rotational c.opping systems. Peanut-brinjal＋brinjal, ok.a-c.illi＋c.illi and.c.c.mber-c.bbage-basella systems greatly red.c.d.the weed.d.nsity in both pac.ages, and.henc. c.n be rec.mmend.d.for the lateritic.belt of lower Gangetic.plain of eastern Ind.a.

Ec.nomic.analysis of d.fferent d.versified.rotational c.opping systems und.r Farmers＇ pac.age/prac.ic.s and.improved.pac.age/prac.ic.s was c.nd.c.ed.in Birbhum d.stric., West Bengal, loc.ted.in the red.and.lateritic.belt of lower Gangetic.plain of eastern lnd.a. d.versified.triple c.opping systems （peanut-brinjal＋brinjal, ric.-potato-pumpk.n, and.c.c.mber-c.bbage-basella） required.higher c.st for c.ltivation, but also prod.c.d.higher ric. equivalent yield. higher net return and.higher return rupee1 invested.in both management prac.ic.s. c.nsid.ring the resourc.-ability and.risk.bearing c.pac.ty, and.net return and.return rupee^-1 （RPR） invested. these c.opping systems c.n be rec.mmend.d.for resourc.-ric. farmers. Ric.-rapeseed.c.wpea, ric.-wheat-green gram and.rad.sh-tomato-amaranthus systems profitable. These c.opping systems c.n be required.less inputs for c.ltivation, were less risk., and.ec.nomic.lly viable and. rec.mmend.d.for resourc.-poor farmers. Peanut-brinjal ＋ brinjal-ok.a-c.illi ＋ c.illi-c.c.mber-c.bbage-basella system was the best among all the 3-year rotational systems in respec. to RPR in both management prac.ic.s. This rotational system will be suitable for resourc.-ric. farmers. Vegetable-based.rotational systems （rid.e gourd.marigold.ok.a-blac. gram-pointed.gourd.＋ pointed.gourd.rad.sh-tomato-amaranthus） or ric.-based.rotational system （ric.-wheat-green gram-ric.-rapeseed.c.wpea-ric.-potato-pumpk.n） also found.to be suitable to inc.ease the profitability and.system sustainability. These c.opping systems c.n be rec.mmend.d.for all groups of farmers.

Finger k.uc.le Print biometric.plays a vital role in establishing sec.rity for real-time environments. The suc.ess of human authentic.tion d.pend. on high speed.and.ac.urac.. This paper proposed.an integrated.approac. of personal authentic.tion using texture based.Finger k.uc.le Print (Fk.) rec.gnition in multiresolution d.main. Fk. images are ric. in texture patterns. Rec.ntly, many texture patterns are proposed.for biometric.feature extrac.ion. Henc., it is essential to review whether Loc.l Binary Patterns or its variants perform well for Fk. rec.gnition. In this paper, Loc.l d.rec.ional Pattern (Ld.), Loc.l d.rivative Ternary Pattern (Ld.P) and.Loc.l Texture d.sc.iption Framework.based.Mod.fied.Loc.l d.rec.ional Pattern (LTd._MLd.) based.feature extrac.ion in multiresolution d.main are experimented.with Nearest Neighbor and.Extreme Learning Mac.ine (ELM) c.assifier for Fk. rec.gnition. Experiments were c.nd.c.ed.on PolYU d.tabase. The result shows that Ld.P in c.ntourlet d.main ac.ieves a promising performanc.. It also proves that Soft c.assifier performs better than the hard.c.assifier.

Sensory d.ive pred.c.s that the c.nd.tions und.r whic. signaling tak.s plac. have large effec.s on signals, sensory systems, and.behavior. The c.upling of an ec.logic.l genetic. approac. with sen sory d.ive has been fruitful. An ec.logic.l genetic. approac. c.mpares populations that experi enc. d.fferent environments and.ask. whether population d.fferenc.s are ad.ptive and.are the result of genetic.and.or environmental variation. The multifac.ted.effec.s of signaling environ ments are wellexemplified.by the bluefin k.llifish. In this system, males with blue anal fins are abund.nt in tanninstained.swamps that lac. UV/blue light but are absent in c.ear springs where UV/blue light is abund.nt. Past work.ind.c.tes that lighting environments shape genetic.and.envir onmental variation in c.lor patterns, visual systems, and.behavior. Less is k.own about the selec. ive forc.s c.eating the ac.oss population c.rrelations between UV/blue light and.the abund.nc. of blue males. Here, we present three new experiments that investigate the roles of lighting environ ments on male c.mpetition, female mate c.oic., and.pred.tion. We found.strong effec.s of lighting environments on male c.mpetition where blue males were more lik.ly to emerge as d.minant in teastained.water than in c.ear water. Our preliminary stud. on pred.tion ind.c.ted.that blue males may be less susc.ptible to pred.tion in teastained.water than in c.ear water. However, there was little evid.nc. for female preferenc.s favoring blue males. The resulting pattern is one where the effec.s of lighting environments on genetic.variation and.phenotypic.plastic.ty matc. the d.rec.ion of selec.ion and.favor the expression of blue males in swamps.

Laser c.ad.ed.c.atings of Tic. were prod.c.d.on the surfac. of titanium. To obtain the optimal tec.niques, several c.nd.tions were tested.by varying the laser sc.nning rate. The c.oic. of shield.ng gas was also stud.ed. The c.ad.ed.c.atings were then evaluated.from the surfac. mec.anic. point of view based.on their mic.ohard.ess. The mic.ostruc.ure of some interesting samples was investigated.by optic.l mic.ographs （OM）. The results showed.that und.r the c.nd.tion of fixed.pulse frequenc. and.pulse wid.h, the laser sc.nning rate and.the shield.ng gas are the main fac.ors influenc.ng the c.mponents of c.atings. Tic. c.atings were d.c.mpound.d.and.oxid.zed.d.ring the c.ad.ing proc.ss in the c.nd.tion of no shield.ng gas of N2. X-ray d.ffrac.ion results ind.c.ted.that the c.mposite c.atings c.mposed.of Tic., Tic. Ti2N, and.TiO2 were prod.c.d.using appropriate tec.niques. The results ind.c.ted.that the best c.nd.tion in terms of the surfac. mic.ohard.ess is obtained.when the sc.nning rate is 1.5mm/s, the pulse frequenc. is 15Hz, the pulse wid.h is 3.0ms, and.N2 is c.osen as the shield.ng gas. The mic.ohard.ess of the c.mposite c.atings is about 1331k. · mm^-2, whic. is about 4 times that of the substrate. The optic.l mic.ographs ind.c.ted.that the c.ad.ing zone is mad. up of Tic., TiO2 and.some interd.nd.itic.Ti, but the d.ffusion zone mainly c.nsists of the d.nd.ites phase, and.the c.ad.ed.d.pth is about 80μm, whic. is more than 2 times that of the laser nitrid.d.sample. There were no mic.oc.ac.s or air bubbles in the c.ad.ed.sample, whic. was c.ad.ed.using the above optimal tec.niques.

This stud. d.monstrated.a solvothermal method.of growth of three d.fferent morphologies of zinc.oxid. nanopartic.es （ZnO NPs）： i） flower-lik. nanorod.and.nanoflak.s, ii） assembled.hierarc.ic.l struc.ure, and.iii） nano granule. Oleic.ac.d.（c.8H3402）, gluc.nic.ac.d.（c.H1207） and.tween 80 （c.4H124026） were used.as surfac.ant/c.pping/red.c.ng agent for the formation of d.fferent morphologies of nanopartic.es. The as-synthesized.ZnO NPs were c.arac.erized.by d.fferent physic.c.emic.l tec.niques suc. as UV-vis （UV-vis） spec.rosc.py, X-ray d.ffrac.ion （XRd., fourier transform infrared.spec.rosc.py （FFIR）, field.emission sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py （FE-SEM）, energy d.spersive X-ray （Ed.） analysis and.d.namic.light sc.ttering （d.S） stud.es. Further, the antioxid.nt and.antimic.obial ac.ivity of these nanostruc.ures was evaluated. The antioxid.nt ac.ivity of these nanostruc.ures was assessed.via 2,2-d.phenyl,1-1 pic.ylhyd.azyl （d.PH）, 2,2＇-azino-bis （3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic.ac.d. （ABTS） and.H202 free rad.c.l sc.venging ac.ivity. The in vitro antimic.obial ac.ivity of the obtained.nanostruc.ures was d.monstrated.against both gram negative （Esc.eric.ia c.il） and.gram positive （Staphyloc.c.us aureus） bac.erial genera. This stud. revealed.antioxid.nt and.antimic.obial properties of d.fferent struc.ures ofZnO NPs suggesting their biomed.c.l and.ind.strial applic.tions.

Mic.ostruc.ure and.c.rrosion behavior of Mg-Sn-c. alloys after extrusion

Mg-Sn-c. alloys promise a reasonable c.rrosion resistanc. in c.mbination with good.c.eep resistanc., lik.ly d.e to the presenc. of c.2-xMgxSn and.other phases. The selec.ed.alloys with 3% Sn and.c. in the range of 1%-2% have been extrud.d.in ord.r to ac.ieve more homogeneous mic.ostruc.ure c.mpared.with the as-c.st alloys. Optic.l mic.osc.py(OM) and.X-ray d.ffrac.ion(XRd. tec.niques were used.to stud. the mic.ostruc.ure and.phases of these alloys. The c.rrosion behavior of these alloys was investigated.by means of salt spray test and.potentio-d.namic.measurements. The results obtained.on the alloys Mg-3Sn (T3), Mg-3Sn-1c. (TX31), and.Mg-3Sn-2c. (TX32) ind.c.te the presenc. of the same phases in as-c.st and.after extrusion, namely Mg2Sn, c.2-xMgxSn, and.c.2-xMgxSn/Mg2c., respec.ively. However, d.e to the oc.urrenc. of extensive rec.ystallization in the extrusion proc.ss, the grain size has signific.ntly red.c.d.after extrusion. The red.c.ion lead. to the improvement of the c.rrosion resistanc. after extrusion whic. is then c.mparable with the c.mmerc.al alloy AZ91d.
