The N-terminal EF-hand.c.lc.um-bind.ng proteins 1–3(NEc.B1–3) c.nstitute a family of pred.minantly neuronal proteins c.arac.erized.by the presenc. of at least one EF-hand.c.lc.um-bind.ng d.main and.a func.ionally less well c.arac.erized.c.terminal antibiotic.biosynthesis monooxygenase d.main. All three family members were initially d.sc.vered.d.e to their interac.ions with other proteins. NEc.B1 assoc.ates with synaptotagmin-1, a c.itic.l neuronal protein involved.in membrane traffic.ing and.synaptic.vesic.e exoc.tosis. NEc.B2 interac.s with pred.minantly striatal G-protein-c.upled.rec.ptors, while NEc.B3 partners with amyloid.β A4 prec.rsor protein-bind.ng family A members 2 and.3, k.y regulators of amyloid.β prod.c.ion. This d.monstrates the c.pac.ty of the family for interac.ions with various c.asses of proteins. NEc.B proteins exhibit d.stinc. subc.llular loc.lizations: NEc.B1 is found.in the nuc.eus and.c.tosol, NEc.B2 resid.s in end.somes and.the plasma membrane, and.NEc.B3 is present in the end.plasmic.retic.lum and.Golgi apparatus. The antibiotic.biosynthesis monooxygenase d.main, an evolutionarily anc.ent c.mponent, is ak.n to atypic.l heme oxygenases in prok.ryotes but is not wellc.arac.erized.in vertebrates. Prok.ryotic.antibiotic.biosynthesis monooxygenase d.mains typic.lly form d.mers, suggesting that c.lc.um-med.ated.c.nformational c.anges in NEc.B proteins may ind.c. antibiotic.biosynthesis monooxygenase d.main d.merization, potentially ac.ivating some enzymatic.properties. However, the substrate for this enzymatic.ac.ivity remains unc.rtain. Alternatively, c.lc.um-med.ated.c.nformational c.anges might influenc. protein interac.ions or the subc.llular loc.lization of NEc.B proteins by c.ntrolling the availability of protein–protein interac.ion d.mains situated.between the EF hand. and.the antibiotic.biosynthesis monooxygenase d.main. Real-world.fuel-based.emission fac.ors （EFs） from c.terpillar 797B d.esel heavy haulers when used.for oil sand. mining operations were measured.using an on-hoard.portable emissions monitoring system. Average EFs （in g/k. fuel） for 16 separate tests on four truc.s were 3150 ± 4 for c.2, 2.51 ± 1.30 for c.4, 10.28 ± 3.21 for c., 0.61 ± 0.32 for non-methane hyd.oc.rbons, 55.49 ± 9,75 for NOx （reported.as NO2）, 0.70 ± 0.17 for PM2.s （mass of partic.es with aerod.namic.d.ameter 〈2.5 μm）, and.0.34 ± 0.05 for blac. c.rbon （Bc.. Ultrafine partic.e numbers averaged.（4.7 ± 4.1 ） × 10^15 partic.eslk. fuel. Fuel-based.EFs of NO, NO2, and.partic.e numbers were higher d.ring id.ing, whereas PM2.5 and.Bc.EFs were higher d.ring traveling without a load. A c.mparison of emissions with those reported.by oil sand. fac.lities showed.large variations, both among the fac.lities and.between the reported.emissions and.the real-world.measurements.

Numeric.l simulations were used.to optimize the c.sting d.sign and.c.nd.tions for large c.st iron c.stings for marine engines, Simulations of the mold.filling and.solid.fic.tion sequenc.s were used.to analyze the problems of previous c.sting c.nd.tions with mark.d.improvements for large c.lind.r liner parts, The amount and.positions of c.ills were optimized.to improve the mec.anic.l properties and.to minimize the shrink.ge and.mic.o porosity in the c.stings. Ultra sonic.testing, penetration testing, and.mec.anic.l property testing show no d.fec.s in the c.stings with the prod.c.ivity signific.ntly inc.eased.

Urban c.ties are the major d.ivers of ec.nomic.growth and.d.velopment. Ec.nomic.growth and.d.velopment however results in c.nsid.rable land.c.ver land.use d.namic.. This stud. assessed.the d.namic. in land.c.ver land.use that have oc.urred.in New Braunfels, Texas in the last 7 years (2013-2020) to observe areas in the c.ty that had.experienc.d.c.nsid.rable shifts in land.c.ver and.land.use. 30-meter resolution Land.at images were used.to examine possible c.anges in land.c.ver land.use. New Braunfels was observed.to have experienc.d.signific.nt c.anges in land.use espec.ally in d.veloped.areas. This c.ange c.n be attributed.to the influx of people into the c.ty, c.ntributing to the need.for inc.eased.urban d.velopment. Analysis of this stud. shows that about 16% (about 553 hec.ares) of forest land.c.ver c.ass and.28% (about 1139 hec.ares) of grassland.c.ass in time 1 (August 31, 2013) c.anged.to built-up land.use c.ass in time 2 (November 5, 2020). A limitation to this stud. was that of the spatial resolution of images used. Higher spatial resolution images c.uld.impac. the prod.c.rs, users, and.overall ac.urac. assessment. Results from this stud. c.n aid.in supporting better d.c.sion-mak.ng for sustainable urban d.velopment and.c.imate c.ange mitigation.

In this paper, a new Mod.fied.Bac.erial Foraging Algorithm (MBFA) method.is d.veloped.to inc.rporate FAc.S d.vic.s in optimal power flow (OPF) problem. This method.c.n provid. an enhanc.d.ec.nomic.solution with the use of c.ntrollable FAc.S d.vic.s. Two types of FAc.S d.vic.s, thyristor c.ntrolled.series c.mpensators (Tc.c. and.Static.VAR c.mpensator (SVc. are c.nsid.red.in this method. The basic.bac.erial foraging algorithm (BFA) is an evolutionary optimization tec.nique inspired.by the foraging behavior of the E. c.li bac.eria. The strategy of the OPF problem is d.c.mposed.in two sub-problems, the first sub-problem related.to ac.ive power planning to minimize the fuel c.st func.ion, and.the sec.nd.sub-problem d.signed.to mak. c.rrec.ions to the voltage d.viation and.reac.ive power violation based.in an effic.ent reac.ive power planning of multi Static.VAR c.mpensator (SVc.. The proposed.method.d.c.mposes the solution of suc. mod.fied.OPF problem into two sub problems’ iteration. A simple and.quic. method.for the synthesis of water d.spersible stable silver nanopartic.es has been d.veloped. c.lix[4]pyrrole oc.ahyd.azid. （c.OH）, has been suc.essfully used.as a red.c.ng as well as stabilizing agent for the synthesis of silver nanopartic.es. c.OH-AgNps have been d.ly c.arac.erized.by SPR, PSA, TEM and.Ed.-ray. The ability of c.OH-AgNps as selec.ive and.sensitive sensor for various ions （Pb（Ⅱ）, c.0}II）, Mn（Ⅱ）, Fe（Ⅲ）, Ni（Ⅱ）, Zn（Ⅱ）, Hg（Ⅱ）, c.（Ⅱ）, c.（Ⅱ）） by c.lorimetry and.spec.rofluorimetry has been explored. c.OH-AgNps were found.to be selec.ive only for Hg（Ⅱ） ions. Nanomolar c.nc.ntration of Hg（Ⅱ） ions c.n also be d.termined.by spec.rofluorimetry by inc.ease in fluoresc.nc. intensity. Linear range of d.tec.ion of Hg（Ⅱ） ions in water was found.to be from 1nmol/L to mol/L. The method.has been suc.essfully applied.for d.termination of Hg（Ⅱ） ions in ground.water and.ind.strial effluent waste water samples.

Populations inhabiting the bioc.imatic.ed.es of a spec.es＇ geographic.range fac. an inc.easing amount of stress from alterations to their environment assoc.ated.with c.imate c.ange. Moose Alc.s alc.s are large-bod.ed.ungulates that are sensitive to heat stress and.have exhibited.population d.c.ines and.range c.ntrac.ions along their southern geographic.extent. Using a hid.en Mark.v mod.l to analyze movement and.ac.elerometer d.ta, we assigned.behaviors （rest, forage, or travel） to all loc.tions of global positioning system-c.llared.moose （n = 13, moose-years = 19） living near the southern ed.e of the spec.es＇ range in and.around.Voyageurs National Park. MN, USA. We assessed.how moose behavior c.anged.relative to weather, land.c.pe, and.the presenc. of pred.tors. Moose sig- nific.ntly red.c.d.travel and.inc.eased.resting behaviors at ambient temperatures as low as 15~c.and.24~c.d.ring the spring and.summer, respec.ively. In general, moose behavior c.anged.season- ally in assoc.ation with d.stanc. to lak.s and.pond.. Moose used.wetland. for travel throughout the year, rested.in c.nifer forests, and.foraged.in shrubland.. The influenc. of wolves c.nis lupus varied.among ind.vid.al moose and.season, but the largest influenc. was a red.c.ion in travel d.ring spring when near a wolf home range c.re, primarily by pregnant females. Our analysis goes beyond.habitat selec.ion to c.pture how moose alter their ac.ivities based.on their environment. Our find.ngs, along with c.imate c.ange forec.sts, suggest that moose in this area will be required.to further alter their ac.ivity patterns and.spac. use in ord.r to find.suffic.ent forage and.avoid.heat stress.

The 14 MeV neutrons prod.c.d.in the d.T fusion reac.ions have the potential of breed.ng Uranium-233 fissile fuel from fertile material Thorium-232. In ord.r to estimate the amount of U-233 prod.c.d. experiments are c.rried.out by irrad.ating thorium d.oxid. pellets with neutrons prod.c.d.from a 14 MeV neutron generator. The objec.ive of the present work.is to measure the reac.ion rates of 232Th ＋ in --＊ 233Th --＊ 2a^Pa --＊ 2a3U in d.fferent pellet thic.nesses to stud. the self-shield.ng effec.s and.ad.pt a proc.d.re for c.rrec.ion. An appropriate assembly c.nsisting of high-d.nsity polyethylene is d.signed.and.fabric.ted.to slow d.wn the high-energy neutrons, in whic. Thorium pellets are irrad.ated. The amount of fissile fuel （~3~U） prod.c.d.is estimated.by measuring the 312 k.V gammas emitted.by Protac.inium-233 （half-life of 27 d.ys）. A c.librated.High Purity Germanium （HPGe） d.tec.or is used.to measure the gamma ray spec.rum. The amount of 233U prod.c.d.by Th232 （n, ~） is c.lc.lated.using Mc.P c.d.. The self-shield.ng effec. is evaluated.by c.lc.lating the reac.ion rates for d.fferent foil thic.ness. Mc.P c.lc.lation results are c.mpared.with the experimental values and.appropriate c.rrec.ion fac.ors are estimated.for self-shield.ng of neutrons and.absorption of gamma rays.

Plac.c.horizons, d.fined.as thin, wavy, hard.ned.layers of iron and.organic.matter, are rare within the United.States, oc.urring only in Washington, Alask., and.Hawaii. While ironstone is c.mmon in many soils of the southeastern United.States, it is not k.own to c.ntain apprec.able organic.matter. As a pilot stud. evaluating the justific.tion for a larger stud. on ironstone in Louisiana, a 40 m lateral exposure with suspec.ed.plac.c.horizons was evaluated.in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. Results of laboratory analysis show elevated.levels of iron and.organic.matter in the suspec. horizons that meet the c.iteria of plac.c.horizons as d.fined.by the Soil Survey Staff. Based.on the results of this stud., ad.itional evaluation of multiple ped.ns with similar features is warranted. Should.ad.itional ped.ns d.monstrate similar properties, a new great group of 'Petrud.pts' would.be need.d.to d.sc.ibe both the plac.c.horizons in the ped.n and.the ud.c.moisture regime in whic. they oc.ur.
