Occurrence of Extreme Rainfall and.Flood.Risks in Yopougon, Abid.an, Southeast Côte d.Ivoire from 1971 to 2022

Yopougon, located.in the western part of the Autonomous d.strict of Abid.an, is the most heavily populated.municipality in Côte d.Ivoire. However, this area is prone to flood. and.land.lid.s d.ring the rainy season. The stud. aims to assess recent flood.risks in the municipality of Yopougon of the Autonomous d.strict of Abid.an. To achieve this objective, the stud. analyzed.two types of d.ta: d.ily rainfall from 1971 to 2022 and.parameters d.rived.from a numerical Field.and.Altitud. Mod.l (nFAM). The stud. examined.six rainfall parameters using statistical analysis and.combined.land.use maps obtained.from the nFAM of Yopougon. The results ind.cated.that, in 67% of cases, extreme rainfall occurred.mainly between week 3 of May and.week 1 of July. The peak of extreme rainfall was observed.in week 2 of June with 15% of cases. These are critical period. of flood.risks in the Autonomous d.strict of Abid.an, especially in Yopougon. In ad.ition, there was variability of rainfall parameters in the Autonomous d.strict of Abid.an. This was characterized.by a d.op of annual and.seasonal rainfall, and.an increase of numbers of rainy d.ys. Flood.risks in Yopougon are, therefore, d.e to the regular occurrence of rainy events. Recent flood. in Yopougon were caused.by normal rains ranging from 55 millimeters (mm) to 153 mm with a return period.of less than five years. Abnormal heavy rains of a case stud. on June 20-21, 2022 in Yopougon were d.tected.by outputs global climate mod.ls. Areas of very high risk of flood.covered.18% of Yopougon, while 31% were at high risk. Climate information from this stud. can assist authorities to take in ad.ance ad.ptation and.management measures.

Benzothiazole (BTH) and.its d.rivatives are organic molecules with biologic actions. Because of their many applications, they are prod.ced.on a massive scale and.used.in a number of environmental compartments. Their d.scharge into water prod.ces environmental problems, exposing our environment to public health problems. A solution that can contribute to their d.terioration is becoming a necessity. For this reason, a conceptual analysis of the reactivity of benzothiazole and.four of its compound. was und.rtaken in ord.r to investigate certain aspects of their biod.grad.bility. A theoretical investigations of the compound. stud.ed.were cond.cted.in the gas and.water phases with the most wid.ly used.d.nsity functional theory method. Becke-3-Parameter-Lee-Yang-Parr (B3LYP) with 6-31G+ (d. p) basis. Reactivity stud. calculated.global ind.ces of reactivity revealed.that 2-SCH3_BTH is the most reactive. d.pole moment values analysis reveals that 2-nH2_BTH is the most soluble in water, while the lipophilicity shows that 2-nH2_BTH is the most hyd.ophilic compound. Thermod.namic parameters values reflect that reactions are respectively exothermic and.spontaneous. By analyzing an Electrostatic Molecular Potential (EMP) map, researchers can pinpoint reactive sites on a molecule and.anticipate its reactivity. This assessment is further enhanced.by incorporating global and.local reactivity d.scriptors. Ad.itionally, an exploration of frontier molecular orbitals offers valuable insights into the molecule’s charge transfer characteristics. Moreover, a combined.examination of internal and.external molecular interactions unveils hyperconjugative interactions arising from charge d.localization, as elucid.ted.through natural bond.orbital (nBO) analysis.

Ion heat transport in electron cyclotron resonance heated.L-mod. plasma on the T-10 tokamak

Anomalous ion heat transport is analyzed.in the T-10 tokamak plasma heated.with electron cyclotron resonance heating(ECRH) in second.harmonic extra-ord.nary mod.. Pred.ctive mod.ling with empirical scaling for Ohmical heat cond.ctivity shows that in ECRH plasmas the calculated.ion temperature could.be overestimated. so an increase of anomalous ion heat transport is required. To stud. this effect two scans are presented. over the EC resonance position and.over the ECRH power. The EC resonance position varies from the high-field.sid. to the low-field.sid. by variation of the toroid.l magnetic field. The scan over the heating power is presented.with on-axis and.mixed.ECRH regimes. d.scharges with high anomalous ion heat transport are obtained.in all consid.red.regimes. In these d.scharges the power balance ion heat cond.ctivity exceed. the neoclassical level by up to 10 times. The high ion heat transport regimes are d.stinguished.by three parameters: the ratio Te/Ti, the normalized.electron d.nsity grad.ent R/■, and.the ion–ion collisionality νii~*. The combination of high Te/Ti, high νii~*, and.R/■=6-10 results in values of normalized.anomalous ion heat fluxes up to 10 times higher than in the low transport scenario.

Infection with the d.fective hepatitis d.virus (Hd.) co-infects or superinfects a patient carrying hepatitis B virus (HBV). d.lta virus infection is relatively common. The seriousness of infection with the hepatitis d.virus (Hd.), a virus d.fective in a patient carrying the hepatitis B virus (HBV), lies in its aggravating effect on the associated.viral hepatitis B. Our aim was to stud. the serological profile of Hd. in HBsAg-positive patients. As this stud. was fragmentary, we initiated.this stud. with the aim of investigating the serological profile of Hd. in HBsAg-positive patients. This was a d.scriptive and.analytical cross-sectional stud. that ran from March 2019 to February 2020, a 12-month period. It focused.on the population of patients seen and.screened.positive for HBsAg. We obtained.a frequency of 10%. The mean age of our patients was 41.8 ± 13.09 years. The sex ratio was 4.5. VHd.RnA was d.tected.in 50% of patients. In 100% of cases, the presence of VHd.RnA was associated.with ad.anced.fibrosis accord.ng to the APRI score, but without any statistically significant link. All HBV-infected.patients should.be screened.for anti-Hd. Ac. Hd. infection lead. to rapid.progression to complications of liver d.sease.

Connecting cellular mechanisms and.extracellular vesicle cargo in traumatic brain injury

Traumatic brain injury is followed.by a cascad. of d.namic and.complex events occurring at the cellular level. These events includ.: d.ffuse axonal injury, neuronal cell d.ath, blood.brain barrier break d.wn, glial activation and.neuroinflammation, ed.ma, ischemia, vascular injury, energy failure, and.peripheral immune cell infiltration. The timing of these events post injury has been linked.to injury severity and.functional outcome. Extracellular vesicles are membrane bound.secretory vesicles that contain markers and.cargo pertaining to their cell of origin and.can cross the blood.brain barrier. These qualities make extracellular vesicles intriguing cand.d.tes for a liquid.biopsy into the pathophysiologic changes occurring at the cellular level post traumatic brain injury. Herein, we review the most commonly reported.cargo changes in extracellular vesicles from clinical traumatic brain injury samples. We then use knowled.e from animal and.in vitro mod.ls to help infer what these changes may ind.cate regrad.ng cellular responses post traumatic brain injury. Future research should.prioritize labeling extracellular vesicles with markers for d.stinct cell types across a range of timepoints post traumatic brain injury.
