We present a novel method for the solution of the diffusion equation on a composite AMR mesh. this approach is suitable for including diffusion based physics modules to hydrocodes that support ALE and AMR capabilities. to illustrate, we proffer our implementations of diffu- sion based radiation transport and heat conduction in a hydrocode called ALE-AMR. Numerical experiments conducted with the diffusion solver and associated physics packages yield 2nd order convergence in the L2 norm.

We use the recently discovered simple photometric parameter central Intensity Ratio(cIR)determined for a sample of 57 nearby(zt galaxies to explore the central features of galaxies and their possible connection with galaxy *** sample of galaxies shows strong anti-correlation between cIR and mass of their central supermassive black holes(SMBHs).the SMBH masses of ellipticals are systematically higher for a given cIR value than those for lenticulars and spirals in the ***,the correlation between cIR and central velocity dispersion is *** appears less influenced by the excess flux produced by the central engine in these galaxies,when compared to spectroscopic parameters like velocity dispersion and OⅣflux,and proves to be a fast and reliable tool for estimating central SMBH mass.

Epaxial tendons play an important role in the study of the musculoskeletal system and locomotory style of dinosaurs. Although the ossified epaxial tendon lattice is fairly well known in Iguanodontoidea, only recently has knowledge of this complex been extended to ceratopsians. this study concerns the gross morphology and microstructure of the tendon lattice in Psittacosaurus, a basal ceratopsian. As in the neoceratopsian chasmosaurus, the ossified tendons of Psittacosaurus form a three -layered, lattice-like structure. the microstructure of the tendons in large psittacosaur individuals retains an early stage of ossification, as in juvenile birds and nestling hadrosaurs, suggesting a slow developmental rate of ossification of the tendons in psittacosaur ontogeny. comparative study indicates that a lattice-like arrangement of three-layered epaxial tendons is widely distributed in cerapoda. this pattern also extends to Ankylosauria, implying a similar pattern of the epaxial muscles through the ornithischian clade. In addition, comparison with crocodiles implies that the different morphology of ossified tendons in dinosaurs may be associated with adaptive aspects of their paleobiology, not simply a side effect of skeletal ossification. In contrast to the short tendons in quadrupedal chasmosaurus and Protoceratops, the elongated tendons in Psittacosaurus may be related to the bipedal locomotion characteristic of this taxon.

Bio-inspired helicoidal composite laminates, inspired by the intricate helical structures found in nature, present a promising frontier for enhancing the mechanical properties of structural designs. Hence, this study provides a comprehensive investigation into the nonlinear free vibration and nonlinear bending behavior of bio-inspired composite plates. the inverse hyperbolic shear deformation theory(IHSdt) of plates is employed to characterize the displacement field, with the incorporation of Green-Lagrange nonlinearity. the problem is modeled using the c0finite element method(FEM), and an in-house code is developed in the MAtLAB environment to solve it numerically. Various helicoidal layup configurations including helicoidal recursive(HR), helicoidal exponential(HE), helicoidal semi-circular(HS), linear helicoidal(LH), and Fibonacci helicoidal(FH)with different layup sequences and quasi-isotropic configurations are studied. the model is validated, and parametric studies are conducted. these studies investigate the effects of layup configurations, side-to-thickness ratio, modulus ratios, boundary conditions, and loading conditions at different load amplitudes on the nonlinear vibration and nonlinear bending behaviors of bio-inspired composite plates. the results show that the laminate sequence exerts a substantial impact on both nonlinear natural frequencies and nonlinear bending behaviors. Moreover, this influence varies across different side-to-thickness ratios and boundary conditions of the bio-inspired composite plate.

this paper examines the transport analysis, including both heat transfer and mass transfer, in hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic microorganisms towards a curved oscillatory surface. the influence of magnetic fields is also inspected in terms of their physical characteristics. to depict the phenomena of transport, modified versions of both Fick's and Fourier's laws are used. Additionally, the characteristics of both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemical reactions are also incorporated. Utilizing a curvilinear coordinate system, the flow problem is formulated as partial differential equations(PdEs)for momentum, concentration, microorganism field, and energy. An analytical solution to the obtained flow equations is achieved utilizing the homotopy analysis method(HAM).the effects of significant flow parameters on the pressure and microorganism fields, velocity, oscillation velocity, concentration, and temperature distributions are shown via graphs. Furthermore, the variations in skin friction, mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and local motile number due to different involved parameters are presented in tables and are analyzed in detail. Graphical results indicate that the curves of velocity and temperature fields are enhanced as the values of the solid volume fraction variables *** is also verified that the concentration rate field decreases as the values of the homogeneous reaction strength parameter and the radius of curvature parameter increase, and it increases with the Schmidt number and the heterogeneous reaction strength *** outcomes show a favorable response of the motile number to advanced values of the Peclet number, the Schmidt number, the microorganism difference parameter, and the bio-convective Lewis number.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(Hcc)is the most common cause of cancer-related death in Saudi *** study aimed to investigate the patterns of Hcc and the effect of tNM staging,Alfa-fetoprotein(AFP),and child-turcotte Pugh(ctP)on patients’overall survival(OS).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 Hcc patients at a single oncology center in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to *** patients had to fulfill one of the following criteria:(a)a liver lesion reported as definitive Hcc on dynamic imaging and/or(b)a biopsy-confirmed ***:the mean patient age of all Hcc cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:*** patients were stratified into two groups:viral Hcc(n=22,51%)and non-viral Hcc(n=21,49%).Among viral-Hcc patients,55%were due to HBV and 45%due to *** was diagnosed in 79%of *** and sex did not significantly statistically differ in OS among viral and non-viral Hcc patients(p-value>0.05).About 65%of patients had tumor size>5 cm during the diagnosis,with a significant statistical difference in OS(p-value=0.027).AFP was>400 ng/ml in 45%of the *** was a statistically significant difference in the OS in terms of AFP levels(p-value=0.021).A statistically significant difference was also observed between the ctP score and OS(p-value=0.02).ctP class B had the longest *** was the most common treatment provided to Hcc patients followed by sorafenib *** was a significant statistical difference in OS among viral and non-viral Hcc patients(p-value=0.008).conclusions:the most common predictors for OS were the underlying cause of Hcc,AFP,and tumor *** having non-viral etiology,a tumor size>5 cm,an AFP>400 ng/mL,and a ctP score class c were all negatively associated with OS.

Malignancy and mortality in a population-based cohort of patients with coeliac disease or ‘gluten sensitivity’

AIM: to determine the risk of malignancy and mortality in patients with a positive endomysial or anti-gliadin an- tibody test in Northern Ireland. MEtHOdS: A population-based retrospective cohort study design was used. Laboratory test results used in the diagnosis of coeliac disease were obtained from the Regional Immunology Laboratory, cancer statistics from the Northern Ireland cancer Registry and mortal- ity statistics from the General Registrar Office, Northern Ireland. Age standardized incidence ratios of malignant neoplasms and standardized mortality ratios of all-cause and cause-specific mortality were calculated. RESULtS: A total of 13 338 people had an endomysial antibody and/or an anti-gliadin antibody test in Northern Ireland between 1993 and 1996. there were 490 pa- tients who tested positive for endomysial antibodies and they were assumed to have coeliac disease. there were 1133 patients who tested positive for anti-gliadin anti- bodies and they were defined as gluten sensitive. Ma- lignant neoplasms were not significantly associated with coeliac disease; however, all-cause mortality was signifi- cantly increased following diagnosis. the standardized incidence and mortality ratios for non-Hodgkin’s lym- phoma were increased in coeliac disease patients but did not reach statistical significance. Lung and breast cancer incidence were significantly lower and all-cause mortal-ity, mortality from malignant neoplasms, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and digestive system disorders were signifi- cantly higher in gluten sensitive patients compared to the Northern Ireland population. cONcLUSION: Patients with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity had higher mortality rates than the Northern Ireland population. this association persists more than one year after diagnosis in patients testing positive for anti-gliadin antibodies. Breast cancer is significantly re- duced in the cohort of patients with gluten sensitivity.
