Thermodynamic re-assessment of the Mg-Gd-Y ternary system coupling with the driving forces for phase precipitations during aging process

Based on the available experimental phase equilibrium relations and aging precipitation sequences,the Mg–Gd–Y ternary system has been thermodynamically re-assessed by means of CALPHAD *** simulate the experimentally reported aging precipitation sequence,α(Mg)_(SS)(supersaturated)→GP zones(D019-type,metastable)→β’-Mg_(7)Gd(c-bco,metastable)→β_(1)-Mg_(3)Gd(fcc,metastable)→β-Mg_(5)Gd(fcc,stable)near the Mg–Gd side,andα(Mg)SS(supersaturated)→β’-Mg_(7)Y(c-bco,metastable)→β-Mg_(24)Y_(5)(bcc,stable)near the Mg–Y side,the effective nucleation driving forces obtained by deducting the nucleation resistances from the thermodynamic driving forces are calculated and *** metastable components,GP zones(D019-type)andβ’(c-bco)ordered fromα(Mg)_(SS),do not exist in the stable equilibrium phase diagram but appear in the annealing process of typical *** Redlich–Kister equations are adopted to describe three solution phases,Liquid,HCP_A3 and BCC_*** intermediate compounds Mg_(2)Y,Mg_(24)Y_(5),Mg_(2)Gd,Mg_(3)Gd and Mg_(5)Gd are expressed by the formulas of(Mg,Y)_(2/3)(Gd,Mg,Y)_(1/3),Mg_(24/29)(Gd,Mg,Y)_(4/29)Y1/29,(Gd,Mg)_(2/3)(Gd,Mg,Y)_(1/3),(Gd,Mg)_(3/4)(Gd,Mg,Y)_(1/4)and Mg_(5/6)(Gd,Mg,Y)_(1/6),*** particular,the two-sublattice models(Gd,Mg,Y)_(1/2)(Gd,Mg,Y)_(1/2),(Gd,Mg,Y)_(3/4)(Gd,Mg,Y)_(1/4)and(Gd,Mg,Y)_(7/8)(Gd,Mg,Y)_(1/8)have been respectively used to describe the stable Mg(Gd,Y)(BCC_B2)alloy compound as well as the metastable GP zones(D019-type)andβ’(c-bco)phase,in order to cope with the order-disorder transitions.A set of self-consistent thermodynamic parameters has been obtained to ensure the thermodynamic calculations well consistent with the reported experimental data,containing not only the stable equilibrium phase diagram but also the aging precipitation sequence.

The development of aqueous Zn batteries is limited by parasitic water reactions,corrosion,and dendrite *** address these challenges,an inner Helmholtz plane(IHP)regulation method is proposed by employing low-cost,non-toxic maltitol as the electrolyte *** preferential adsorption behavior of maltitol can expel the water from the inner Helmholtz plane,and thus hinder the immediate contact between Zn metal and H_(2)***,strong interaction between maltitol and H_(2)O molecules can restrain the activity of H_(2)***,the"IHP adsorption effect"along with the low LUMO energy level of maltitol-CF_(3)SO_(3)^(-)can promote the in-situ formation of an organic-inorganic complex solid electrolyte interface(SEI)*** a result,the hydrogen/oxygen evolution side reaction,corrosion,and dendrites issues are effectively suppressed,thereby leading to highly reversible and dendrite-free Zn plating/*** Zn‖I_(2)battery with hybrid electrolytes also demonstrates high electrochemical performance and ultralong cycling stability,showing a capacity retention of 75%over 20000 charge-discharge cycles at a large current density of 5 A g^(-1).In addition,the capacity of the device has almost no obvious decay over20000 cycles even at-30℃.This work offers a successful electrolyte regulation strategy via the IHP adsorption effect to design electrolytes for high-performance rechargeable Zn-ion batteries.

As an example of the La-Mg-Y system, the method how to set up the themaodynamic model of individual phases was introduced in the process of thermodynamic optimization. The solution phases （liquid, body-centered cubic, face-centered cubic, hexagonal close-packed and double hexagonal close-packed） were modeled with the Redlich-Kister equation. The compound energy model has been used to describe the thermodynamic functions of the intermetallic compounds in the La-Mg-Y systems. The compounds Mg2Y, Mg24Y5, Mg12La, Mg17La2, Mg41Las, Mg3La and Mg2La in the La-Mg-Y system were treated as the formulae （Mg,Y）2（La,Mg,Y）, Mg24（La,Mg,Y）4Y, Mg12（La, Y）, Mg17（La,Y）2, Mg41（La,Y）5, Mg3（La,Mg,Y） and Mg2（La, Y）, respectively. A model （La, Mg,Y）0.5（La,Mg,Y）0.5 was applied to describe the compound MgM formed by MgLa and MgY in order to cope with the order-disorder transition between body-centered cubic solution （A2） and MgM with CsCl-type structure （B2） in the La-Mg-Y system. The Gibbs energies of individual phases were optimized in the La-Mg, La-Y and La-Mg-Y systems by CALPHAD technique. The projection of the liquidus surfaces for the La-Mg-Y system was predicted. The Mg-based alloys database including 36 binary and 15 ternary systems formed by Mg, Al, Cu, Ni, Mn, Zn and rare earth elements was set up in SGTE standard.

Phase equilibria involving the long-period stacking ordered phases including 14 H,18 R and 10 H in the Mg-rich corner of the Mg-Y-Zn system at 400 and 500℃ have been experimentally investigated by using X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy(HAADF-STEM).The coexistence of 14 H and 18 R as well as 18 R and 10 H was confirmed from atomic *** phases 14 H,18 R and 10 H were all stable phases from 400 to 500℃.The experimentally proved three-phase equilibrium of14 H,18 R and α-Mg instead of 14 H,18 R and Mg_(24)Y_(5) were presented in the modified isothermal *** latter three-phase equilibrium was reported in the available *** modified isothe rmal sections are conducive to guide the composition design to obtain the alloys with favorable microstructure constituents and mechanical properties.

SiC/7075 aluminum matrix composites were prepared by a liquid stirring *** role of Ti facilitating the preparation of SiC/7075 aluminum matrix were studied by means of direct-reading spectrometer,scanning electron microscope,energy dispersive spectrometer,X-ray diffraction and the sessile drop *** results show that the SiC content in the SiC/7075 composite increases with an increase of Ti *** addition of Ti can significantly improve the wettability of SiC/Al system,there is a critical value of above 0.5%of Ti content in improving the wettability of the Al/SiC system at *** temperature of the"non wetting-wetting"transition for the(Al-2Ti)/SiC system is about 1123K,the contact angle decreases to 88°at 200 seconds and reaches a stable contact angle of 28°at 2100 seconds.

In recent years,the proportion of installed wind power in the three north regions where wind power bases are concentrated is increasing,but the peak regulation capacity of the power grid in the three north regions of China is limited,resulting in insufficient local wind power consumption ***,this paper proposes a two-layer optimal scheduling strategy based on wind power consumption benefits to improve the power grid’s wind power consumption *** objective of the uppermodel is tominimize the peak-valley difference of the systemload,which ismainly to optimize the system load by using the demand response resources,and to reduce the peak-valley difference of the system load to improve the peak load regulation capacity of the *** lower scheduling model is aimed at maximizing the system operation benefit,and the scheduling model is selected based on the rolling *** load-side schedulingmodel needs to reallocate the absorbed wind power according to the response speed,absorption benefit,and curtailment penalty cost of the two DR dispatching ***,the measured data of a power grid are simulated by MATLAB,and the results show that:the proposed strategy can improve the power grid’s wind power consumption capacity and get a large wind power consumption benefit.

Ten memantine（Mema）-dihydroartemisinin（DHA） ligands were designed and synthesized. Three types of isomers including α, β, and a defined y isomer were found in each intermediates（1a--1e）. Type γ isomer was firstly reported here and confirmed as a less stable eclipsed conformation. The bonding of Mema with DHA through different carbon chains generally makes the new entities more cytotoxic than either Mema or artemisinm（Arte）. The β Mema/DHA ligands are a little bit more cytotoxic than a ligands. By applying corticosterone（Cort）-impaired PC12 cells models, it was found that Mema and those ligands with more than 3 carbon chains showed weak or no neuroprotective activities against the insults. However, two ligands, 2a（β） and 2b（β） showed better effects than either Arte or their combination（Mema/Arte in 1：1 molar ratio） at a dose of 5 μmol/L. Furthermore, ligands 2a（β）, 2b（β） and 2c（β） were confn-med as mild N-methyl-D-aspartate（NMDA） antagonists, and their corresponding α isomers are weak NMDA antagonists. All the data indicate that the bonding of Mema/DHA in compacted β conformation mode results in enhanced effects against Cort-induced insults in PC12 ceils and might reverse memantine as an anti-depression NMDA antagonist.

Biocompatible, small-sized and well-dispersed gold nanoparticles regulated by silk fibroin fiber from Bombyx mori cocoons

Biocompatible, small-sized but well-dispersed gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) remain a major challenge for their synthesis. Here a convenient solution impregnation technique is developed to prepare such Au NPs under the regulation of degummed silk fibroin fibers (SFFs) extracted from Bombyx mori cocoons. SFFs play multiple roles in the formation of Au NPs such as reactive substrate to capture AuCl4^- ions by the chelation of -C = 0, reducing agent for Au(0) by the reduction of -OH , and modifiers to render biocompatible Au NPs by some functional groups and biomolecules. The as-prepared Au NPs with a size of 7-10 nm are embedded in the solid SFF substrate, and can disperse well in the liquid system by the disintegration of SFFs into silk fibroin (SF) in a certain CaCl2 solution. The biocompatible Au NPs exhibit uniform small size and distribute stably in both solid and solution states, which have distinctive properties and functional advantages, and bring great convenience to their storage and transportation.

The Fe-Gd and Co-Fe-Gd systems were optimized by means of the CALPHAD （CALculation of PHAse Diagram） technique. The solution phases, liquid, bcc, fcc and hcp, were described by the substitutional solution model. For the Fe-Gd system, the compounds Fe23Gd6,Fe3Gd and Fe2Gd with no solubility ranges were treated as stoichiometric compounds. According to the CaCu5-type structure of the intermetallic compounds Fe17Gd2,it was reasonable to adopt a three-sulattice model （Fe2,Gd）Gd2Fe15 in the Fe-Gd system, and this model was also adopted as （Co2,Fe2,Gd）（Co2,Gd）2（Co,Fe）15 to describe the compounds （Co,Fe）17Gd2 and （Co,Fe）5Gd in the Co-Fe-Gd ternary system. The other compounds were treated as the line compounds （Co,Fe）mGdn and no ternary compound had been reported in the Co-Fe-Gd system. The thermodynamic description of the Co-Fe and Co-Gd system were taken from literatures. A self-consistent thermodynamic description of the Co-Fe-Gd system was obtained.
