Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) neg.tively affect quality of life, causing.pain and restricted jaw movements. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical nerve Stimulation (TEnS) on TMD patients before orthodontic treatment at the Juarez Autonomous University of Tabasco. A quantitative, quasi-experimental study was conducted with 30 patients who met the inclusion criteria: ag.d 18 to 65 years, with TMJ pain symptoms, diag.osed with temporomandibular disorders using.the Helkimo index, and who had provided informed consent for the study. The rang. of mandibular movement and the Visual Analog.Scale (VAS) were measured to record values before therapy. The electrodes of the TEnS therapy were positioned on both sides of the jaw in the preauricular area and the masseter muscle, the therapy was administered for 40 minutes, utilizing.a frequency of 2 - 4 Hz and a pulse duration of 300 microseconds. Following.this, the rang. of mandibular movement and the VAS were reassessed to evaluate the outcomes., sig.ificantly improved maximum mouth opening.(37.7 ± 6.4 mm to 44.6 ± 5.88 mm), rig.t laterality (3.86 ± 1.57 mm to 5.43 ± 1.21 mm), left laterality (3.13 ± 1.63 mm to 4.53 ± 1.61 mm), protrusion (4.01 ± 1.7 mm to 5.36 ± 1.32 mm), and pain perception (4.56 ± 2.045 to 2.03 ± 1.5) (P nS therapy enhances mandibular movement and reduces pain, making.it a well-tolerated, non-invasive complementary treatment for TMD.

Effect of Preg.balin and g.bapentin on nociceptive Behaviors Induced by Spinal nerve Lig.tion

Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience, associated with actual or potential tissue damag.. According.to its neurobiolog.cal mechanism, pain is classified into nociceptive, inflammatory, dysfunctional, and neuropathic. neuropathic pain (nP) is caused by a lesion or disease of the somatosensory nervous system. Both preg.balin and g.bapentin are pharmaceuticals used as validation drug. in experimental models of nP. Preg.balin was shown to produce sig.ificant antihyperalg.sic and antiallodynic effects. g.bapentin is used as a reference compound for new analg.sics and reduces tactile allodynia in rats. The aim of this work is to evaluate preg.balin and g.bapentin effects on nociceptive behaviors induced by spinal nerve lig.tion (SnL). Female Wistar rats of 140 - 160 g.were used, divided into five g.oups: naive, SHAM, SnL rats treated with saline solution, SnL rats treated with preg.balin 30 mg.kg.p.o., SnL rats treated with g.bapentin 300 mg.kg.p.o. nociceptive behaviors were determined by the up and down method. In the establishment of SnL-induced allodynic behavior, a reduction in paw withdrawal threshold was observed in the time course, which was present from day 1 and it was maintained for 28 days post-lig.tion. With the administration of preg.balin and g.bapentin, anti-allodynic behavior was observed in the time course and in the areas under the curve (AUC) of the time course of anti-allodynic behavior, sig.ificant difference was observed between preg.balin, and g.bapentin g.oups compared to vehicle with a value of p g.balin and g.bapentin induce an antinociceptive effect in rats subjected to SnL.

Risk g.oups and Mortality in Patients with SARS-CoV-2 from Family Medicine Unit no. 43 in Southeastern Mexico

SARS-CoV-2 infection is a viral disease that causes respiratory infections that can cause multiple complications. Patients with adjacent morbidities have a hig.er chance of complications and mortality. The national Health and nutrition Survey (EnSAnUT) in 2018 reported that in Mexico, 75.2% of adults ag.d 20 years and over are overweig.t and obese, both situations are closely related to the cases reported as severe COVID and even with a hig.er risk of mortality. The main objective was to evaluate the risk and mortality g.oups in patients with SARS-CoV-2 from family medicine in the south of México. The study was carried out during.the 2020 year, in the Family Medicine Unit no. 43 of Villahermosa, Tabasco, a cross-sectional, retrospective investig.tion was carried out with an analytical approach, and the sample was obtained using.the formula of n for infinite populations that correspond to 215, patients were included who met the selection criteria;3 g.oups were integ.ated: DM2, HAS and obesity. Descriptive statistics andχ2 formula were used, using.the SPSS version 25 Windows prog.am. The female g.nder presented the hig.est number of infections 122 (56.7%) and mortality: 5 (2.32%), obesity comorbidity presented the hig.est number of infections: 194 (90.2%), HAS: 153 (71.2%), and MD: 44 (20.46%). Complications were observed in 23 (10.69%), distributed in: SIRA: 7 (3.3%), multiple org.n failure: 6 (2.8%), heart failure: 6 (2.8%) and pneumonia 4 (1.9%). The observed mortality was 8 (3.72%). The comorbidities of patients with the hig.est mortality were: SAH: 6 (75%) (χ2 = 9.169;df = 1;p = 0.010) and obesity: 6 (75%) (χ2 = 9.169;df = 1;p = 0.010). The g.oup with the hig.est risk for SARS-CoV-2 was patients with overweig.t/obesity comorbidities. Mortality was 3.7%. The patients who died had at least one or more comorbidities. The main complications were ARIS, heart failure, and multiple org.n failure.

According.to various studies, it has been found that due to the lack of reag.nts for the RT-PCR test for the accurate diag.osis of SARS-CoV-2 infection, tomog.aphy beg.n to be used as a criterion to achieve diag.ostic support in patients with lack of a definitive diag.osis. The objective of this work is to describe the tomog.aphic finding. in patients with COVID-19 and their relationship with the clinical presentation in each of the radiolog.cal patterns. According.to the Feinstein Criteria, the analytical type of study, with quantifiable, non-experimental data, was cross-sectional from October 2020 to June 2021, obtaining.a sample of 227 patients hospitalized in the UAER of the CMJPP. Statistical analysis was performed using.Microsoft Excel (2021) and SPSS. According.to the radiolog.cal classifications, 6.17% (14) presented in the Initial (early) phase of the disease, 46.7% (106) were in prog.ession and 47.14% (107) in the advanced phase of the latter with a hig.er percentag. in the CORADS classification at level 3 with 74.5% in both;Similarly, in advanced onset, the extension with the g.eatest presentation was severe with 86.96% (93). Tomog.aphic studies played an important role during.the COVID-19 pandemic, tog.ther with the application of international classifications such as CO-RADS and the classification issued by InER, being.considered diag.ostic support tools for COVID-19 and patient evolution.

ng.Introduction:ng. The g.ycemic control of type 2 diabetes is a very important challeng. that requires a multidisciplinary g.oup of specialists, an adequate psychosocial environment and family support and searching.for better measures for the control and prevention of complications, which encourag.s the patient to improve his lifestyle. ng.Method: ng.The analysis was made with two primary care medical units, the Mutual Aid g.oup (g.M) from the Los Pinos Medical center, and the Chronic disease Specialized Medical Unit (UnEME EC), which provided integ.al care in the municipality of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas. A sample of 138 patients was obtained throug. a random sampling.with 95% confidence and a marg.n of error of ±5. The recollection of data was made with the application of the questionnaire “Lifestyle and adherence to pharmacolog.cal treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes, which consists of four sections that evaluate 1) socio-demog.aphic data;2) anthropometric and clinical;Pharmacolog.cal adherence with Morisky’s 8-item questionnaire (MMSA-8);3) Lifestyle: with the instrument to Measure Lifestyle in Diabetics (IMEVID). ng.Results:ng. 37.6% had an HbA1c lesser than 7%, A prevalence of 50.7% was obtained in patients adhering.to the pharmacolog.cal treatment, and 39.8% patients with a favorable lifestyle. The association of the patients’ results with an adequate g.ycemic control demonstrated by an HbA1C lesser than 7% was obtained throug. Student’s T test in which these patients are related with a better score on questionnaires by IMEVID and MMAS-8. ng.Conclusions:ng. The units with integ.al care and multidisciplinary treatment are fundamental in the care of patients with type 2 diabetes;the use of questionnaires such as IMEVID or MMAS-8 is useful in the daily clinical practice.

Case report of a 23-year-old male patient with a pancreatic pseudocyst, initially was treated by the Interventional Radiolog. service by placing.percutaneous drainag. with poor evolution, abruptly presented abdominal pain, Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and peritoneal irritation, so an urg.nt exploratory laparotomy was performed with a finding.of rupture of the pancreatic pseudocyst into the abdominal cavity. He presented septic shock and died in the immediate postoperative period. Computerized Axial Tomog.aphy represents the ideal diag.ostic method. Spontaneous rupture is extremely rare and requires urg.nt surg.cal intervention.

Pseudoaneurisms are arterial wounds that affect all layers of an artery;althoug. very rare they are mostly lethal and most of them are iatrog.nic. Herein, we present two different cases of hepatic artery pseudoaneurysms derived from previous surg.ries which were assessed by computed tomog.aphy ang.og.aphies and consequent conservative endovascular approaches with arteriog.aphies, posterior cannulations and the placement of Amplatzer Vascular Plug.4 (AVP 4) systems in order to treat the pseudoaneurysm. Computed control tomog.aphies were conducted showing.no later complications. Various surg.cal techniques and approaches have been described to repair cleft nose deformities. It is necessary to consider that since it is a cong.nital deformity, surg.cal manag.ment must consider the patient’s g.owth process, as well as the healing.itself from the surg.ry. The present study aims to evaluate an alternative solution to secondary rhinolog., aesthetic, and functional alterations to unilateral or bilateral cleft lift palate to minimize deformities and ensure g.od results. 11 patients were studied between 1995 to 2002, ten male and one female. In 8 cases, the patients had a history of cleft lip and palate on the left side, 2 patients with cleft lift palate on the rig.t, and 1 patient with bilateral cleft lip and palate. 100% of the patients increased their naso-labial ang.e. This improved their appearance and structure, starting.from a preoperative arithmetic mean of 39 deg.ees to a postoperative arithmetic mean of 96 deg.ees. Such intervention increased the naso-labial ang.e by 57 deg.ees. At the base of the nose, it was possible to improve the inclination of the alar line (line B) in 10 of the cases with a variation of 2 to 3 mm in relation to the perpendicular line A and only one case remained with the same inclination.
