Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is a chronic,recurring,and remitting functional disorder of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by abdominal pain,distention,and changes in bowel *** there are several drugs for IBS,effective and approved treatments for one or more of the symptoms for various IBS subtypes are *** understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms such as the role of impaired bile acid metabolism,neurohormonal regulation,immune dysfunction,the epithelial barrier and the secretory properties of the gut has led to advancements in the treatment of *** regards to therapies for restoring intestinal permeability,multiple studies with prebiotics and probiotics are ongoing,even if to date their efficacy has been *** parallel,much progress has been made in targeting low-grade inflammation,especially through the introduction of drugs such as mesalazine and rifaximin,even if a better knowledge of the mechanisms underlying the low-grade inflammation in IBS may allow the design of clinical trials that test the efficacy and safety of such *** literature review aims to summarize the findings related to new and investigational therapeutic agents for IBS,most recently developed in preclinical as well as Phase 1 and Phase 2clinical studies.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine if heart rate variability(HRV) during incremental test could be used to estimate ventilatory threshold(VT) in professional basketball players, with sufficient precision to be used in their training. Furthermore, the second aim was to analyse the association between HRV and 3 methods of VT determination by gas ***: Twenty-four professional basketball players(age: 23.4 ± 4.9 years; height: 195.4 ± 9.8 cm; body mass: 92.2 ± 11.9 kg) performed an incremental running test to exhaustion. First ventilatory threshold(VT1) was determined by ventilatory equivalent(VE) and HRV and second ventilatory threshold(VT2) was determined by 3 methods of gases analysis(V-slope, VE and gas exchange ratio(R), and HRV). Pearson's coefficient(r) was used to detect differences between data and the strength of each relationship. The mean of absolute differences and Bland–Altman analysis were used to evaluate whether there was ***: The results showed no significant differences in HR and oxygen consumption(VO2) at VT1 between the 2 methods. Furthermore, no significant differences among the methods of gases analysis and HRV were observed in speed, HR, and VO2 at VT2. Moreover, VTs estimated using HRV and gas methods were significantly correlated. Correlation in HR values was higher between R and HRV(r = 0.96) and VE and HRV(r = 0.96) than V-slope and HRV(r = 0.90).Conclusion: These findings provide a practical, inexpensive approach for evaluating specific training loads when determining VT2 in basketball players. Therefore, HRV is an alternative method to determine VT2 without the application of expensive technology that limits its use to laboratories.

Background and Aims: Several studies have shown that hypoglycaemia, especially a severe episode is associated with an increased mortality rate in diabetes mellitus subjects with previous cardiovascular disease or acute coronary syndrome. One of the presumed mechanisms is the proarrhythmic effect of hypoglycaemia related to the prolongation of the action potential, or the catecholamine surge that follows an episode. The aim of this case series analysis was to investigate the relationship between hypoglycaemia and glucose variability with arrhythmic events in type 2 diabetes patients who suffered an acute myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: We selected patients admitted consecutively to the cardiology department of Clinical Emergency Hospital in Bucharest for a period of three months with acute myocardial infarction and previously diagnosed type 2 diabetes. For each patient, a retrospective continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) or glucose sensor (Medtronic® Enlite, USA) and a dual electrocardiograph and blood pressure monitor for 24 hours were available. Also, patients had an oscillometric device (Arteriograph® TensioMed Ltd) for 24 hours or non-invasive monitoring of central blood pressure, pulse wave velocity and augmentation index. The data were analysed using Medtech®, TensioWin® and Carelink iPro® softwares. We used SPSS® version 20.0 (IBM) for the statistical analysis. The results are presented as median and interquartile range (IQR). Results and Discussion: Ten type 2 diabetes patients (4 males, 6 females) with anterior (4/10) and inferior acute myocardial infarction (6/10) were included. They were treated with insulin (3/10), sulphonylurea (Gliclazide) plus Metformin (4/10), Metformin monotherapy (2/10), or all three (1/10). AIM To evaluate the treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head(ONFH) with the use of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF).METHODS In 30 mature beagles(6 groups of 5 beagles) ONFH was induced cryosurgically and one of the following solutions was administered locally in the femoral head(FH) in each group: Single injection of 500 μg VEGF(t-VEGFμ group); single injection of 500 ng VEGF(t-VEGFn group); continuous delivery of 500 μg VEGF through osmotic micropump(t-VEGFpump-μ group); continuous delivery of 500 ng VEGF through osmotic micropump(t-VEGFpump-n group); single injection of 0.9% sodium chloride(t-NS group), while one group that served as control group did not receive any local solution(No-t group). FHs were retrieved 12 wk postoperatively, underwent decalcification and hematoxylin/eosin and toluidine blue staining. In two canines per group, one half of FH was processed without decalcification and stained with modified Masson Trichrome. Histological sections were observed by light microscopy and measured with a semi-automatized bone histomorphometry system and Bone Volume/Total Volume(BV/TV), Marrow Volume/Total Volume(MaV/TV), and Trabecular Thickness(TbT h) were assessed. Standard and robust tests(Welch, Brown Forsythe) of analysis of variance along with multiple comparisons, were carried out among the *** The untreated(No-t) group had signs of osteonecrosis, whereas the VEGF groups revealed reversal of the osteonecrosis. Statistical analysis of the decalcified specimens revealed a significantly better BV/TV ratio and a higher Tb Th between the VEGF treatment groups(except the t-VEGFn group) and the No-t group or the control t-NS group. One of the main concerns of the European Union environment policy is the deterioration of natural habitats and the threats posed to certain species under the Habitat Directive. With its huge diversity of plant and animal species and high level of endemism, Romania is nominated as a European biodiversity hotspot. Biodiversity is being lost at a dramatic rate unless strategically conservation measurements are taken. Halting the loss of biodiversity is regarded as a priority to the European Member States which are encouraged to work together within the same strong legislative framework in order to protect our most vulnerable species and habitat types. Romania is also in the process of developing the Spatial Data Infrastructure in response to Geographic Information 2000 Initiative launched by the European Commission in 1996 and the INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) initiative launched in 2001. The focus of this article is the development of the geospatial architecture framework and applications required for efficient inventory and mapping of natural habitats and wild species of community interest. Implementing a biodiversity geoportal application is seen as critical in order to help users share the geospatial information in the environment and sustainable development sectors.

滚动轴承是旋转机械的关键部件,其早期损伤的检测对保证旋转机械的稳定性至关重要。因此,开发精准的模型,并能够在初始阶段低信噪比条件下确定故障的存在具有重要意义。随机共振(SR)是一种不同于传统轴承故障诊断的方法,它通过在信号中加入一定量的噪声来提取目标信号。传统的随机共振方法存在滤波性能有限、输入信号频率低和信号特征频率(FC)先验条件参数不足等缺点。本文的目的是改进随机共振法,并进一步应用于滚动轴承故障诊断中,具体包括以下内容:1.在传统的随机共振方法中,一阶微分方程支配的随机谐振现象无法提供良好的滤波性能。因此,本文使用基于Duffing oscillator(DO)-Gauss法的二阶系统提取来自先前滤波信号的微弱信号,利用贝叶斯分割结合峰值能量来确定最佳共振带宽(BW)。为了处理小参数的限制,本文使用调谐方法指导参数搜索。结果表明,在所分析的案例中,均可找到最佳共振带宽(BW)。同时,DO-Gauss随机共振方法也被成功应用到了低信噪比条件下的特征提取中。2.提出了一种基于多项式指数(SRPI)的改进随机共振(ISR)方法。该方法采用四个指标组合成一个多项式,以实现滚动轴承振动信号周期性冲击信号特征的辨识和提取。该方法(ISR)克服了信号特征频率先验参数条件不足的缺陷,能在低信噪比条件下实现较好的目标信号提取。3.提出了一种改进的自适应随机共振(IASR)方法。该方法使用滑移窗函数在功率谱中识别信号特征频率,进而通过二阶欠阻尼随机共振量(USSSR)的输出响应分析获取最大权重谱峭度指标(WPSK),再从每个滑动窗口的信号特征频率值的集合中,获得对应于目标信号的模式值。相较于改进随机共振法(ISR),该方法(IASR)同样克服了信号特征频率先验条件参数不足的缺陷。一旦信号特征频率已知,滑动窗口设备就可找到最佳共振带宽提供的最佳质量的信号。因此,对比二阶欠阻尼随机共振法(USSSR)获得的输出信号,该方法(IASR)的输出信号质量更高。本文通过对仿真信号及两组包含内圈、滚动体和外圈故障的实际轴承振动信号的分析,验证了所提出方法的有效性,实现了基于改进随机共振方法的滚动轴承故障诊断应用。结果表明:1)本文提出的DO-Gauss法在弱信号提取方面的表现优于传统的随机共振法(SR);2)改进随机共振法(ISR)和改进自适应随机共振法(IASR)克服了传统随机共振法的先验条件参数不足的缺陷,因此可实现轴承故障诊断;3)改进自适应随机共振法(IASR)方法改进了权重谱峭度指标(WPSK)指数,相比自适应随机共振法(ASR),更好地实现了目标信号提取,而滑移窗函数的使用则提供了更好的二阶欠阻尼随机共振(USSSR)输出信号。

This study has been conducted to analyze the chemical composition and antimicrobial, antioxidant and antiplasmodial properties of ethanol extracts of Pycnostachys erici-rosenii *** and Leucas martinicensis (Jack.) *** that are not yet well known. The HPLC-DAD-MS-ESI+ method was used to investigate the chemical profile, the disc diffusion and microdilution method for the antimicrobial activities, the DPPH and FRAP assays for antioxidant property and SYBR Green I-based growth inhibition assay on Pf 3D7 (CQ-sensitive) strain for antiplasmodial properties. The results indicated significant amounts of hydroxybenzoic acid, flavonol and hydroxycinnamic acid in the two species. The total polyphenols analysis gave 209.0 ± 16.1 mg GAE/100g DW for P. erici-rosenii and 175.3 ± 1.6 mg GAE/100g DW for L. martinicensis while for total flavonoids analysis 33.4 ± 1.8 mg TE/100g DW was found for P. erici-rosenii and 39.6 ± 0.6 mg TE/100g DW for L. martinicensis. Moreover, antimicrobial tests revealed 0.125 mg/mL on E. faecalis ATCC25922 for ethanol extracts P. erici-rosenii and L. martinicensis. The antioxidant assays revealed IC50 56.17 μg/mL and 78.43 μg/mL for DPPH assay, and 112.03 μM TE/100mL and 90.46 μM TE/100mL) for FRAP assay for ethanol extracts of P. erici-rosenii and L. martinicensis respectively. Finally, for Antiplasmodial activity, IC50 was 4.07 μg/mL for P. erici-rosenii and 12.29 μg/mL for L. martinicensis. Therefore, the antimicrobial, the antioxidant, and the antiplasmodial results suggest that the ethanolic extracts of the aerial parts of P. erici-rosenii and L. martinicensis contain compounds with antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antiplasmodial properties, which can be searched in new drug discovery for treatment of infectious diseases.

Perception and Attitude of the General Population on the Risk of Infection with SARS-CoV-2

Current state of knowledge on the impact of emotions and perceptions of the population towards the risk of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 should be the basis for disease control measures as well as for community awareness programs. Due to differences in perceptions, concerns, culture, beliefs, different populations may react differently to the same challenges. Ninety adults were interviewed, without symptoms suggestive of SARS-CoV-2 infection, using the Romanian version of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale. The emotional reactions expressed by various psychotic or mental disorders, the main actions are taken to protect against the SARS-CoV-2 infection, as well as the hypothetical illness behavior were investigated. The total score, as well as each item of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale, indicates a low-to-moderate emotional level regarding to the risk of coronavirus infection. The data are supported by the choice to be treated at home in case of illness. There are differences in perception between sexes and between professional categories (employees vs. retirees). Knowledge of social phenomena caused by major epidemiological crises such as SARS-CoV-2 infection should be the basis of education, disease prevention and control programs to avoid the occurrence of psychosocial risks in the population.
