Traditionally,food sustainability has been considered solely in the stage of agricultural ***,globalization,the expansion of the food production industry,and the emergence of supermarket chains that control the retail food market require specific significant changes in supply chains in the food sector and,therefore,we need to address the economic,social,and environmental impacts of these *** the other hand,social selling has increased rapidly in recent years,with a further boom,following current events related to the coronavirus disease(COVID-19).This explosion of social sales,where there are usually no control and regulation entities,can bring problems associated with mishandling *** this paper,we expose how Blockchain technology supports the traceability of social sales by validating the data provided by the chain participants such as digital health passports,production and transport data in the sale process;the proposed solution generates recommendations on productmanagement considering the agreements previously made by the network *** evaluate the proposed smart contracts,we useHyperledger Caliper,obtaining an average throughput of 12.6 transactions per second and an average latency of 0.3 s for the asset update *** also use a study case to evaluate the proposed project platform’s selling-transport stage using Internet of Things(IoT)sensors.

The aim of this work was to study effects of ketotifen fumarate(KF)on prevention of tissue damage in testes of rats with experimental autoimmune orchitis(EAO)and on the contralateral testis in a model of prolonged testicular cord torsion(TCT).Rats with EAO or TCT were injected intraperitoneally once daily with KF or saline solution(vehicle group).Incidence and severity of testicular damage were evaluated by histopathology using an EAO score or a Johnsen *** cells(MC)were identified by histochemistry and *** EAO model,KF significantly reduced severity of histopathological testicular damage compared to rats in the vehicle *** also reduced the number of testicular MC compared to vehicle ***,in TCT model,multifocal damage of the contralateral testis was observed 30 days after testicular torsion characterized by sloughing of the germinal epithelium,seminiferous tubule atrophy,and interstitial *** signs of inflammation and fibrosis of seminiferous tubular walls were also *** contrast,sections of contralateral testis of rats injected with KF and killed 30 days after surgery showed normal histological features.A significant decrease in the number of MC was observed in rats treated with KF compared to untreated *** conclusion,we demonstrated that treatment with KF reduced testicular inflammatory process and MC infiltrates in both EAO and TCT *** results suggest a promising treatment for infertile male patients with testicular pathologies associated with inflammation and germ cell loss.

As colon cancer is among the top causes of death, there is a growinginterest in developing improved techniques for the early detection of colonpolyps. Given the close relation between colon polyps and colon cancer,their detection helps avoid cancer cases. The increment in the availability ofcolorectal screening tests and the number of colonoscopies have increasedthe burden on the medical personnel. In this article, the application of deeplearning techniques for the detection and segmentation of colon polyps incolonoscopies is presented. Four techniques were implemented and evaluated:Mask-RCNN, PANet, Cascade R-CNN and Hybrid Task Cascade (HTC).These were trained and tested using CVC-Colon database, ETIS-LARIBPolyp, and a proprietary dataset. Three experiments were conducted to assessthe techniques performance: (1) Training and testing using each databaseindependently, (2) Mergingd the databases and testing on each database independently using a merged test set, and (3) Training on each dataset and testingon the merged test set. In our experiments, PANet architecture has the bestperformance in Polyp detection, and HTC was the most accurate to segmentthem. This approach allows us to employ Deep Learning techniques to assisthealthcare professionals in the medical diagnosis for colon cancer. It is anticipated that this approach can be part of a framework for a semi-automatedpolyp detection in colonoscopies.

The growth of electrical transportation is crucially important to mitigate rising climate change concerns regarding materials *** are high-power devices,particularly suitable for public transportation since they can easily store breaking energy due to their high-rate charging ***,they can function with two carbon electrodes,which is an advantage due to the abundance of carbon in biomass and other waste materials(i.e.,plastic waste).Newly developed supercapacitive nanocarbons display extremely narrow micropores(100 kW kg^(-1)),using fourty times less activating agent than traditionnal chemically activated *** also demonstrate that the affinity between the carbon and the electrolyte is of paramount importance to maintain rapid ionic diffusion in narrow ***,this facile synthesis method shows that low-cost and bio-based free-standing electrode materials with reliable supercapacitive performances can be used in electrochemistry.

Compelling pieces of evidence derived from both clinical and experimental research has demonstrated the crucial role of the receptor for advanced-glycation end-products(RAGE)in orchestrating a plethora of proinflammatory cellular responses leading to many of the complications and end-organ damages reported in patients with diabetes mellitus(DM).During the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,many clinical reports have pointed out that DM increases the risk of COVID-19 complications,hospitalization requirements,as well as the overall severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 case-fatality *** the present review,we intend to focus on how the basal activation state of the RAGE axis in common preexisting conditions in DM patients such as endothelial dysfunction and hyperglycemia-related prothrombotic phenotype,as well as the contribution of RAGE signaling in lung inflammation,may then lead to the increased mortality risk of COVID-19 in these ***,the crosstalk between the RAGE axis with either another severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 receptor molecule different of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 or the renin-angiotensin system imbalance produced by viral infection,as well as the role of this multi-ligand receptor on the obesity-associated lowgrade inflammation in the higher risk for severe illness reported in diabetes patients with COVID-19,are also discussed.

Many marine plankton species are motile and perform daily vertical migrations,traveling across water columns over distances of tens of *** is intriguing that these tiny and slow swimmers can travel in a certain direction within a turbulent *** way to do that is by exploiting gravitaxis,which is a form of taxis characterised by the directional movement of an organism in response to *** plankton species are able to generate a gravitational torque(e.g.,due to a nonuniform mass distribution)that reorients them ***,the swimming direction is disturbed by the shearing motions and the velocity fluctuations that characterise oceanic turbulence:these can generate a viscous torque that may destabilize the *** directed locomotion resulting from the combination of gravitational and viscous torques in a flow is termed gyrotaxis,which is known to lead to a non-uniform spatial accumulation of swimmers in patches or *** phenomena depend strongly on the non-linear dynamics that originate from the fluid motions,and the study of gyrotactic swimmers in complex flows is attracting growing *** simulations of the Navier-Stokes equations coupled with suitable models of gyrotactic swimmers have proven their capability to provide valuable insight into the dynamical and statistical properties of self-propelled *** this paper,we review recent studies and key findings on gyrotactic swimmers in turbulent ***,we introduce the most recent results concerning the orientation and vertical migration of gyrotactic swimmers in isotropic ***,we discuss the findings on the accumulation of the ***,we review recent progresses concerning the behaviour of gyrotactic swimmers in free-surface turbulence.

Geotechnical classification is vital for site characterization and geotechnical *** tests such as the cone penetration test with pore water pressure measurement(CPTu)are widespread because they represent a faster and cheaper alternative for sample recovery and ***,classification schemes based on CPTu measurements are fairly generic because they represent a wide variety of soil conditions and,occasionally,they may fail when used in special soil types like sensitive or quick *** and highly sensitive clay soils in Norway have unique conditions that make them difficult to be identified through general classification ***,new approaches to address this task are *** following study applies machine learning methods such as logistic regression,Naive Bayes,and hidden Markov models to classify quick and highly sensitive clays at two sites in Norway based on normalized CPTu *** showed a considerable increase in the classification accuracy despite limited training sets.

This paper investigates a reconstruction method for helical computed tomography which compensates for the motion artifacts in the thorax caused by patient breathing. The method takes into account a motion vector field determined from a four-dimensional （4-D） uncompensated image data set. Surface models of the lung and the ribs are tracked through the 4-D data set to create motion information within the entire thorax. Finally, an image is reconstructed using motion compensated back-projection. The results show that due to the use of shape models for the motion estimation, the method is fast and robust. Furthermore, since the surfaces are tracked individually, reconciling the opposite motion direction of the lung and rib cage in one motion vector field is avoided.

Resource-intensive agricultural simulation applications have increased the need for gridification tools–i.e.,software to transform and scale up the applications using Grid infrastructures–.Previous research has proposed JASAG,a generic gridification tool for agricultural applications,through which the performance of a whole-farm simulation application called Simugan improved ***,JASAG still lacks proper support for efficiently exploiting Grid storage resources,causing significant delays for assembling and summarizing the generated *** this application note,two different data processing techniques in the context of JASAG are presented to tackle this *** was again employed to validate the benefits of these *** using data processing techniques show that the execution time of Simugan was accelerated by a factor of up to 34.34.
