Existing auto-focusing methods in laser processing typically include two independent modules,one for surface detection and another for z-axis *** latter is mostly implemented by mechanical z stage motion,which is up to three orders of magnitude slower than the lateral processing *** alleviate this processing bottleneck,we developed a single-lens approach,using only one high-speed z-scanning optical element,to accomplish both in situ surface detection and focus control quasi-simultaneously in a dual-beam *** probing beam scans the surface along the z-axis continuously,and its reflection is detected by a set of confocal *** on the temporal response of the detected signal,we have developed and experimentally demonstrated a dynamic surface detection method at 140-350 kHz,with a controlled detection range,high repeatability,and minimum linearity error of 1.10%.Sequentially,by synchronizing at a corresponding oscillation phase of the z-scanning lens,the fabrication beam is directed to the probed z position for precise focus ***,our approach provides instantaneous surface tracking by collecting position information and executing focal control both at 140-350 kHz,which significantly accelerates the axial alignment process and offers great potential for enhancing the speed of advanced manufacturing processes in three-dimensional space.

The periodic undulation of a molten track’s height profile in laser-based powder bed fusion of metals(PBF-LB/M)is a commonly observed phenomena that can cause defects and building failure during the manufacturing *** a quantitative analysis of such instabilities has not been fully established and so here we used Rayleigh–Plateau theory to determine the stability of a single molten track in PBF-LB/M and tested it with various processing conditions by changing laser power and beam *** analysis discovered that normalized enthalpy,which relates to energy input density,determines whether a molten track is initially unstable and if so,the growth rate for the ***,whether the growth rate ultimately yields significant undulation depends on the melt duration,estimated by dwell time in our experiment.

Aluminum light poles play a pivotal role in modern infrastructure, ensuring proper illumination along highways and in populated areas during nighttime. These poles typically feature handholes near their bases, providing access to electrical wiring for installation and maintenance. While essential for functionality, these handholes introduce a vulnerability to the overall structure, making them a potential failure point. Although prior research and analyses on aluminum light poles have been conducted, the behavior of smaller diameter poles containing handholes remains unexplored. Recognizing this need, a research team at the University of Akron undertook a comprehensive experimental program involving aluminum light poles with handholes containing welded inserts in order to gain a better understanding of their fatigue life, mechanical behavior, and failure mechanisms. The research involved testing seven large-scale aluminum light poles each 8-inch diameter, with two separate handholes. These handholes included a reinforcement that was welded to the poles. Finite Element Analysis (FEA), statistical analysis, and comparison analysis with their large counterparts (10-inch diameter) were used to augment the experimental results. The results revealed two distinct failure modes: progressive crack propagation leading to ultimate failure, and rupture of the pole near the weld initiation/termination site around the handhole. The comparison analysis indicated that the 8-inch diameter specimens exhibited an average fatigue life exceeding that of their 10-inch counterparts by an average of 30.7%. The experimental results were plotted alongside the fatigue detail classifications outlined in the Aluminum Design Manual (ADM), enhancing understanding of the fatigue detail category of the respective poles/handholes.

动态共价聚合物网络同时兼具热塑性高分子的可加工性与热固性高分子的稳定性,成为了高分子材料研究的热点。分子内"邻基参与"作用能大幅提升交联点间交换反应的速率,以满足在不添加外源催化剂的条件下对交联网络加工重塑的需求。但"邻基参与"作用强度对烷基交换类交联网络这种动态性较低的共价聚合物网络动态性能的调控机制尚未阐明[1]。本工作基于具有不同内亲核体(硫、硒等杂原子)的双环壬烷交联点结构制备动态共价交联网络,同时探究不同强度的"邻基参与"作用对烷基交换反应的影响,从而分析其对动态交联网络构筑、重排速率与重排温度依赖性的调控机制。实现烷基交换类动态共价交联网络在温和条件下的重排(缺乏"邻基参与"设计的体系在该温度下无法重塑/回收);在温度降低后可逆反应快速冻结,仍保持网络结构与材料性能的稳定性。杂双环壬烷类交联网络的弛豫时间有极强温度依赖性,网络粘流活化能高达180 kJ/mol。本研究将为烷基交换类动态共价交联网络的开发提供独特的新策略。

Background:Physical activity(PA)is important for cancer *** of remotely delivered interventions are needed to assist in reaching under-served non-metropolitan cancer *** objective of this study was to ascertain whether wearable technology,coupled with health coaching was effective in increasing PA in breast and colorectal cancer survivors living in regional and remote areas in ***:Cancer survivors from 5 states were randomized to intervention and control *** participants were given a Fitbit Charge 2TMand received up to 6 telephone health coaching *** participants received PA print *** assessments at baseline and 12 weeks measured moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA),light PA,and sedentary ***:Eighty-seven participants were recruited(age=63±11 years;74(85%)female).There was a significant net improvement in MVPA of 49.8 min/week,favoring the intervention group(95%confidence interval(95%CI):13.6-86.1,p=0.007).There was also a net increase in MVPA bouts of 39.5 min/week(95%CI:11.9-67.1,p=0.005),favoring the intervention *** groups improved light PA and sedentary behavior,but there were no between-group ***:This’s the first study to demonstrate that,when compared to standard practice(i.e.,PA education),a wearable technology intervention coupled with distance-based health coaching,improves MVPA in non-metropolitan cancer *** results display promise for the use of scalable interventions using smart wearable technology in conjunction with phone-based health coaching to foster increased PA in geographically disadvantaged cancer survivors.

Item-Level Analysis of the Revised Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Performance Evaluation Applied in Practice

Competency-based assessments for healthcare professionals are critical for safe and effective client outcomes. Rehabilitation clinical skill competency assessments must be validated and revised to produce safe and skilled practitioners. The revised American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Fieldwork Performance Evaluation (FWPE) instrument measures occupational therapy student performance to determine readiness for practice. The assessment includes thirty-seven competencies that address both profession specific clinical skills and general professional behavior skills. The objective of this study was to use Rasch methods to explore the use of the revised FWPE in actual fieldwork practice and to determine the instrument’s psychometric properties when separating the item components into two distinct subdomains: General Health Professions Competences and Occupational Therapy-Specific Competencies. Internal construct validity and test reliability were analyzed using data from 149 occupational therapy students after completing their initial Level II A fieldwork clinical internship. This study examined the item difficulty hierarchy, item fit, person-fit to model, person separation index, person separation reliability coefficient, strata, ceiling and floor effect, and unidimensionality of the FWPE instrument as a whole and as two separate domains. With the exception of not meeting the criteria for unidimensionality, the full FWPE instrument and the Occupational Therapy-Specific Competencies subdomain showed acceptable item-level psychometrics for reliability and precision. While the General Health Professions Competencies subdomain showed good item-level psychometrics, it was below the criterion for reliability and only separated the sample into two strata. Results support the validity, reliability, and clinical use of the revised FWPE full instrument and the Occupational Therapy-Specific Competencies subdomain to measure entry-level clinical skill competencies in pr
