Efficient optical network management poses significant importance in backhaul and access network communicationfor preventing service disruptions and ensuring Quality of Service(QoS)*** emerging faultsin optical networks introduce challenges that can jeopardize the network with a variety of *** existingliterature witnessed various partial or inadequate *** the other hand,Machine Learning(ML)hasrevolutionized as a promising technique for fault detection and *** traditional fault managementsystems,this research has three-fold ***,this research leverages the ML and Deep Learning(DL)multi-classification system and evaluates their accuracy in detecting six distinct fault types,including fiber cut,fibereavesdropping,splicing,bad connector,bending,and PC ***,this paper assesses the classificationdelay of each classification ***,this work proposes a fiber optics fault prevention algorithm thatdetermines to mitigate the faults *** work utilized a publicly available fiber optics dataset namedOTDR_Data and applied different ML classifiers,such as Gaussian Naive Bayes(GNB),Logistic Regression(LR),Support Vector Machine(SVM),K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN),Random Forest(RF),and Decision Tree(DT).Moreover,Ensemble Learning(EL)techniques are applied to evaluate the accuracy of various *** addition,this work evaluated the performance of DL-based Convolutional Neural Network and Long-Short Term Memory(CNN-LSTM)hybrid *** findings reveal that the CNN-LSTM hybrid technique achieved the highestaccuracy of 99%with a delay of 360 *** the other hand,EL techniques improved the accuracy in detecting fiberoptic ***,this research comprehensively assesses accuracy and delay metrics for various classifiers andproposes the most efficient attack detection system in fiber optics.

Optical manipulation of ratio-designable Janus microspheres

Angular optical trapping based on Janus microspheres has been proven to be a novel method to achieve controllable *** contrast to natural birefringent crystals,Janus microspheres are chemically synthesized of two compositions with different refractive ***,their structures can be artificially regulated,which brings excellent potential for fine and multi-degree-of-freedom manipulation in the optical ***,it is a considerable challenge to model the interaction of heterogeneous particles with the optical field,and there has also been no experimental study on the optical manipulation of microspheres with such designable refractive index *** the specific structure affects the kinematic properties of Janus microspheres remains ***,we report systematic research on the optical trapping and rotating of various ratio-designable Janus *** employ an efficient T-matrix method to rapidly calculate the optical force and torque on Janus microspheres to obtain their trapped postures and rotational characteristics in the optical *** have developed a robust microfluidic-based scheme to prepare Janus *** experimental results demonstrate that within a specific ratio range,the rotation radii of microspheres vary linearly and the orientations of microsphere are always aligned with the light polarization *** is of great importance in guiding the design of Janus *** their orientations flip at a particular ratio,all consistent with the *** work provides a reliable theoretical analysis and experimental strategy for studying the interaction of heterogeneous particles with the optical field and further expands the diverse manipulation capabilities of optical tweezers.

A phenology-based vegetation index for improving ratoon rice mapping using harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 data

Ratoon rice,which refers to a second harvest of rice obtained from the regenerated tillers originating from the stubble of the first harvested crop,plays an important role in both food security and agroecology while requiring minimal agricultural ***,accurately identifying ratoon rice crops is challenging due to the similarity of its spectral features with other rice cropping systems(e.g.,double rice).Moreover,images with a high spatiotemporal resolution are essential since ratoon rice is generally cultivated in fragmented croplands within regions that frequently exhibit cloudy and rainy *** this study,taking Qichun County in hubei Province,China as an example,we developed a new phenology-based ratoon rice vegetation index(PRVI)for the purpose of ratoon rice mapping at a 30 m spatial resolution using a robust time series generated from Harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2(HLS)*** PRVI that incorporated the red,near-infrared,and shortwave infrared 1 bands was developed based on the analysis of spectro-phenological separability and feature *** on actual field samples,the performance of the PRVI for ratoon rice mapping was carefully evaluated by comparing it to several vegetation indices,including normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),enhanced vegetation index(EVI)and land surface water index(LSWI).The results suggested that the PRVI could sufficiently capture the specific characteristics of ratoon rice,leading to a favorable separability between ratoon rice and other land cover ***,the PRVI showed the best performance for identifying ratoon rice in the phenological phases characterized by grain filling and harvesting to tillering of the ratoon crop(GHS-TS2),indicating that only several images are required to obtain an accurate ratoon rice ***,the PRVI performed better than NDVI,EVI,LSWI and their combination at the GHS-TS2 stages,with producer's accuracy and user's accuracy of 92.22 and 89.30%,respectively

A high-pressure laser ignition and combustion system with adjustable oxidizer gas atmosphere is established to investigate the ignition and combustion characteristics of boron-magnesium(BM)com-posite *** ignition and combustion model of BM powders is established and validated in the present *** results show that increasing water content,O_(2) content and Mg content all result in shorter ignition delay time of BM powders,among which the effect of water content is the most ***,ignition delay time increases as pressure *** combustion time decreases with increasing Mg content and ambient pressure but increases with water *** the increase of O_(2) content,combustion time of BM powders first increases and then decreases,which means a critical O_(2) content exists above which combustion time *** results show that there exists a trade-off between ignition and combustion performance of BM composite powders.

Quantitative evaluation of the contribution of underground space to urban resilience:A case study in China

Urban underground space(UUS)development has been acknowledged as a positive contribution to urban resilience(UR).Such contribution has been qualitatively addressed in recent years,but only quantitatively discussed in few *** evaluation methods for UR are widely used in China and around the world,but the role of underground space is barely *** paper provides a way to bridge this gap on the city scale.A UR evaluation framework was carefully constructed that covers the basic aspects and elements of *** contributions of UUS to UR were identified and integrated into the UR evaluation framework,and the measurement methods for each indicator related to UUS were determined.A case study of 19 sample cities in China were conducted using the integrated evaluation *** analysis and clustering analysis were further adopted to interpret the evaluation results,mainly with three indicators reflecting the level of UUS development,namely UUS area(m^(2)),UUS density(104 m^(2)/km^(2))and UUS area per capita(m^(2)/person).The results showed a strong correlation between UUS area and *** average proportion of UR provided by UUS in the 19 sample cities was 16.46%,while the maximum figure reached 29.20%.The sample cities were clustered into four categories based on the relationship between the proportion of UR provided by UUS,UUS area,and GDP per capita,where both high and low UUS area tend to provide less proportion of resilience than the medium UUS *** suggestions for UUS utilization were proposed to assist cities in achieving urban resilience.

In this paper,we investigate the distributed estimation problem of continuous-time stochastic dynamic systems over sensor networks when both the system order and parameters are *** propose a local information criterion(LIC)based on the L_(0)penalty *** minimizing LIC at the diffusion time instant and utilizing the continuous-time diffusion least squares algorithm,we obtain a distributed estimation algorithm to simultaneously estimate the unknown order and the parameters of the *** dealing with the effect of the system noises and the coupling relationship between estimation of system orders and parameters,we establish the almost sure convergence results of the proposed distributed estimation ***,we give a simulation example to verify the effectiveness of the distributed algorithm in estimating the system order and parameters.
