Compounds that block the function of connexin and pannexin protein channels have been suggested to be valuable therapeutics for a range of *** of these compounds are now in clinical trials,but for many of them,the literature is inconclusive about the molecular effect on the tissue,despite evidence of functional *** the different channel types has distinct physiological and pathological implications and this review describes current knowledge of connexin and pannexin protein channels,their function as channels and possible mechanisms of the channel block effect for the latest therapeutic *** summarize the evidence implicating pannexins and connexins in disease,considering their homeostatic versus pathological roles,their contribution to excesive ATp release linked to disease onset and progression.

A k-nacci （k-step Fibonacci） sequence in a finite group is a sequence of group elements x0,x1,x2,...,xn,.., for which, given an initial （seed） set x0,x1,x2,...,xj-1, each element is defined by xn{x0x1…xn-1 forj≤n〈k xn-kxn-k＋1 …xn-1 for n≥kFrom the definition, it is clear that the period of the k-nacci sequence in a group depends on the chosen generating set and the order in which the assignments of x0, x1, x2,…~, xj-1 are made. In this paper we examine the periods of the k-nacci sequences in the groups m2, m2＋ and R2, where each term of the sequence is reduced modulo 2.

In this note we show that on any compact subdomain of a K?hler manifold that admits sufficiently many global holomorphic functions, the products of harmonic functions form a complete set. This gives a positive answer to the linearized anisotropic Calderón problem on a class of complex manifolds that includes compact subdomains of Stein manifolds and sufficiently small subdomains of K?hler manifolds. Some of these manifolds do not admit limiting Carleman weights, and thus cannot be treated by standard methods for the Calderón problem in higher dimensions. The argument is based on constructing Morse holomorphic functions with approximately prescribed critical points. This extends earlier results from the case of Riemann surfaces to higher dimensional complex manifolds.

Since the discovery of Systemin in tomatoes in 1991, many additional peptide hormones have been discovered in plants. plant peptide hormones typically start as small precursor pro- teins （-100a.a.）, which include n-terminal secretory or anchor sequences, and are post-translationally processed into a smaller hormonally active peptide （on the range of 5-18 a.a.）. To date, peptide hormones have been shown to have diverse functions in plants, including nearly every aspect of develop- ment and morphogenesis. Here, we discuss recent reports regarding the CLV3/ESR-RELATED （CLE） and ROOT GROWTH FACTOR （RGF） families of peptide hormones.

BACKGROUnD Isolated left ventricular apical hypoplasia(ILVAH),also known as truncated left ventricle(LV),is a very unusual *** is characterised by a truncated,spherical,and non-apex forming *** true apex is occupied by the right *** to the rarity of the disease,just a few case reports and limited case series have been published in the *** To analysing the so far 37 reported ILVAH cases *** The electronic databases pubMed and Scopus were investigated from their establishment up to December 13,*** The majority of cases reported occurred in males(52.7%).Mean age at diagnosis was 26.1±19.6 *** than a third of the patients were asymptomatic(35.1%).The most usual clinical presentation was breathlessness(40.5%).The most commonly detected electrocardiogram changes were T wave abnormalities(29.7%)and right axis deviation with poor R wave progression(24.3%).Atrial fibrillation/flutter was detected in 24.3%.Echocardiography was performed in 97.3%of cases and cardiac MRI in 91.9%of *** fraction was reduced in more than a half of patients(56.7%).An associated congenital heart disease was found in 16.2%.Heart failure therapy was administered in 35.1%of *** outcome was favorable in the vast majority of patients,with just one *** ILVAH is a multifaceted entity with a so far unpredictable course,ranging from benign until the elderly to sudden death during adolescence.

We studied the foraging processes of wildebeest using an advection-diffusion equation. We equipped the model with data collected between 1999 and 2007 from the Serengeti ecosystem from 18 GpS-collared wildebeest. Results analysis show that wildebeest foraging behavior can be explained by advective and diffusive parameters in a heterogeneous habitat like the Serengeti ecosystem.

Consistent differences in behavior between individuals, otherwise known as animal personalities, have become a staple in behavioral ecology due to their ability to explain a wide range of phenomena. Social organisms are especially serviceable to animal personality techniques because they can be used to explore behavioral variation at both the individual and group level. Despite the suc- cess of personality research in social organisms generally, and social Hymenoptera in particular, social wasps （Vespidae） have received little to no attention in the personality literature. In the pre- sent study, we test polistes metricus （Vespidae; polistinae） paper wasp queens for the presence of repeatable variation in, and correlations （＂behavioral syndromes＂） between, several commonly used personality metrics： boldness, aggressiveness, exploration, and activity. Our results indicate that p. metricus queens exhibit personalities for all measured traits and correlations between differ- ent behavioral measures. Given that paper wasps have served as a model organism for a wide range of phenomena such as kin selection, dominance hierarchies, mate choice, facial recognition, social parasitism, and chemical recognition, we hope that our results will motivate researchers to explore whether, or to what degree, queen personality is important in their research programs.
