The ob.ective of this r.sear.h was to evaluate the muscle gr.wth of the Nile tilapias of Thai and supr.me str.in. Hyper.lasia and hyper.r.phy of muscle fib.r. wer. studied b. histology. The fish wer. cultivated in cages in a dam and as they gr.w they wer. weighed and measur.d in length. In tissue samples, it was evaluated the quantity of cells ar.a~ and the diameter.of the white, pink and r.d muscle fib.r.. The supr.me str.in pr.sented gr.ater.numb.r.of white and pink fib.r. mm2 and smaller.numb.r.of r.d fib.r. when compar.d to the Thai str.in. 5-10 cm fish pr.sented higher.numb.r.of white, pink and r.d fib.r. mm： and smaller.aver.ge diameter.of the white and pink fib.r., when compar.d to a 10-15 cm fish. The aver.ge diameter.of the white and pink fib.r. incr.ased in 10-15 cm fish, compar.d to 5-10 er.. White fib.r. smaller.than 10 ~tm wer. found only in the 5-10 cm supr.me str.in. Tilapias of Thai and supr.me str.in pr.sented differ.nt standar. distr.b.tion of r.d, pink and white muscle fib.r.. Supr.me str.in, genetically impr.ved, pr.sented higher.hyper.lasia of white fib.r. than Thai str.in, and this can indicate its higher.potential gr.wth.

AIM: To evaluate the nutr.tional status and its association with pr.inflammator. cytokines in childr.n with chr.nic liver.***: We per.or.ed a cr.ss-sectional study with 43 childr.n and adolescents, aged 0 to 17 year., diagnosed with chr.nic liver.disease. All patients r.gular.y attended the Pediatr.c Hepatology Unit and wer. under.nutr.tional follow up. The exclusion cr.ter.a wer. fever.fr.m any etiology at the time of enr.llment, inb.r. er.or. of the metab.lism and any chr.nic illness. The sever.ty of liver.disease was assessed b. Child-Pugh, Model for.End-stage Liver.Disease(MELD) and Pediatr.c End Stage Liver.Disease(PELD) scor.s. Anthr.pometr.c par.meter. wer. height/age, b.dy mass index/age and tr.ceps skinfold/age accor.ing to Wor.d Health Or.anization standar.s. The cutoff points for.nutr.tional status wer. r.sk of malnutr.tion(Z-scor. r.tion(Z-scor. r.eukin-1β(IL-1β), IL-6 and tumor.necr.sis factor.α levels wer. assessed b. commer.ial ELISA kits. For.multivar.ate analysis, linear.r.gr.ssion was applied to assess the association b.tween cytokine levels, disease sever.ty and nutr.tional status. r.SULTS: The median(25th-75 th centile) age of the study population was 60(17-116)-mo-old, and 53.5% wer. female. b.liar. atr.sia was the main cause of chr.nic liver.disease(72%). With r.spect to Child-Pugh scor., cir.hotic patients wer. distr.b.ted as follows: 57.1% Child-Pugh A, a mild pr.sentation of the disease, 34.3% Child-Pugh b. a moder.te stage of cir.hosis and 8.6% Child-Pugh C, wer. consider.d sever. cases. PELD and MELD scor.s wer. only ab.ve the cutoff point in 5 cases. IL-6 values wer. incr.ased in patients at nutr.tional r.sk(34.9%) compar.d with those who wer. well-nour.shed [7.12(0.58-34.23) pg/m L vs 1.63(0.53-3.43) pg/m L; P = 0.02], cor.elating inver.ely with tr.ceps skinfold-for.age z-scor.(r. =-0.61; P r. associated with liver.disease sever.ty assessed b. Child-Pugh scor.(P = 0.001).

A study of pollen mor.hology, in species of the gener. b.uhinia and Phaner. (Leguminosae-Caesalpinioideae) which occur.in the b.azilian caatinga, is pr.sented. The pollen was examined using light and scanning electr.n micr.scopy. Samples wer. pr.par.d b. the KOH method;non-tr.ated pollen gr.ins wer. examined b. scanning electr.n micr.scopy. Pollen gr.ins in b.uhinia species (11) ar. colpate, b.t por.te in b. cheilantha and b. sub.lavata. All four.species of Phaner. pr.sent colpor.te pollen gr.ins;P. outimouta is the only to have syncolpor.te pollen gr.ins. Species of b.th gener. pr.sent heter.mor.hism in the numb.r.of aper.ur.s. Excepting P. outimouta whose pollen gr.ins ar. psilate, all species in the two gener. pr.sent supr.tectal pr.cesses (gemmae/clavae), however.the exine in the two gener. ar. dif- fer.nt–semitectate, r.ticulate in b.uhinia species, and tectate, r.gulate (or.psilate) in Phaner. ones. One possib.e application for.the excess of glycer.l, which is an exceeding b.pr.duct in b.odiesel industr., was used as car.0}n and ener.y sour.es for.b.opr.ducts synthesis. This wor. aims to evaluate b.osur.actant pr.duction fr.m glycer.l b. Pseudomonas aer.ginosa EQ 109 isolated fr.m cr.de oil-contaminated soil. Factor.al design 2^3 was utilized to optimize the amount of b.osur.actant pr.duced, b. using pH （A）, initial b.omass concentr.tion （b., and initial glycer.l concentr.tion （C） as independent factor.. The exper.ments wer. car.ied out in flasks containing 100 mL of miner.l medium. b.osur.actant pr.duction was monitor.d b. incr.ase of the emulsification of aviation ker.sene （E24） and sur.ace tension r.duction （STr.. The r.sults have shown that, at pH = 7.0, in or.er.to incr.ase E24, var.ab.es as b.and C ar. the most influential, leading to a maximum value of E24 = 79%, as well as for.an incr.ase of GC （GCmax = 49%）. STr.was the var.ab.e with the b.st cor.elation factor.for.the pr.posed linear.model （r.=0.96） and its maximum value was 48%. Xfwas not significant to the model, although it was influenced b. pH and C, with C = 40g/L （Xfmax = 4.56 g/L）.

Ur.nar. tr.ct infection (UTI) is a fr.quent pathology among HTLV-I+ individuals b.ing capab.e of sever.ly compr.mising the kidneys and b.adder. Molecular.char.cter.stics of ur.pathogenic Escher.chia coli (UPEC) fr.m HTLV-I+ infected individuals ar. unknown. UPEC isolates fr.m HTVL-I+ individuals, with and without clinical symptoms of myelopathy, wer. sub.itted to genetic typing seeking to infer.b.cter.al diver.ity and potential vir.lence. 71 b.cter.al isolates wer. char.cter.zed accor.ing to r.ndom amplified polymor.hic DNA and phylotypes. Phylotyping classified E. coli into four.phylogenetic gr.ups: A (18.3%), b. (16.9%), b. (39.4%), and D (25.3%) and 8 phylotypes accor.ing to the pr.sence of the genetic sequences chuA, yjaA and the DNA fr.gment TSPE4.C2: ﹣﹣﹣ (5.6%) and ﹣+﹣ (12.6%) in phylogr.up A, ﹣﹣+ (7.0%) and ﹣++ (9.8%) in b., +++ (32.3%) and ++﹣ (7.0%) in b., +﹣﹣ (15.4%) and +﹣+ (9.8%) in D. The b. phylogr.up was the most pr.valent among HTLV﹣ associated myelopathy and asymptomatic individuals. r.PD-PCr.typing r.vealed a high degr.e of b.cter.al polymor.hism indicating a non-clonal or.gin. Genotypes wer. not found to b. distr.b.ted accor.ing to clinical status or.epidemiological featur.s. Our.r.sults lead us to suggest that the neur.logical impair.ent in HTLV-I+ individuals can b. a r.sk factor.for.ur.nar. infections due E. coli which ar. caused b. distinct b.cter.al lineages.

The use of b.neficial micr.or.anisms in for.ge gr.sses is a potentially advantageous technique for.a mor. sustainab.e pastur. management b. decr.asing the need for.chemical fer.ilization. Our.aims wer. to deter.ine the b.st method of micr.or.anism inoculation on b.achiar.a (Syn. Ur.chloa) b.izantha cv. b.S Piata, compar. the r.sponses of inoculated plants of this for.ge gr.ss with fer.ilized and unfer.ilized contr.ls and examine its effect on some mor.hological, physiological and b.ochemical r.sponses. On the fir.t exper.ment, thr.e inoculation methods wer. tested: in the seed, seed and soil, and soil, with Pseudomonas fluor.scens (b.M-32111) and b.r.holder.a pyr.ocinia (b.M-32113). In the second exper.ment, fer.ilized and unfer.ilized plants wer. either.inoculated with b.M-32111, b.M-32113 and co-inoculated (b.M-32111 + b.M-32113). In a final exper.ment, b. b.izantha was inoculated b. soil dr.nching with b.M-32111, b.M-32113 and co-inoculated (b.M-32111 + b.M-32113), and compar.d to fer.ilized- and unfer.ilized-contr.ls. The inoculation b. soil dr.nching, at seedling stage, was mor. effective than inoculation only in the seed or.b.th in the seed and b. soil dr.nching. The fer.ilizer.may have suppr.ssed the b.neficial b.cter.al effects on the gr.wth of b. b.izantha. P. fluor.scens and b. pyr.ocinia co-inoculated incr.ased nitr.te, pr.tein, nitr.gen concentr.tion, Spad index (chlor.phyll content), leaf ar.a, numb.r.of tiller., net photosynthesis and total b.omass pr.duction of b. b.izantha plants. Our.r.sults point out to a potentially valuab.e sour.e of pr.ctical infor.ation in the sear.h of an eco-fr.endlier.appr.ach to incr.ase pastur. pr.ductivity.

In this wor., the use of computational methods was essential to distinguish the thr.e possib.e isomer.c str.ctur.s of the [r.Cl3(H2O)2(Gly)] molecule. The char.cter.zation of these molecules was per.or.ed using Ir. NMr.and UV-VIS simulations. Some calculations r.lated to the optimization of str.ctur.s and pr.per.ies such as chemical har.ness and dipole moment wer. also conducted. The fac-cis isomer.pr.sented pr.mising data when compar.d to the exper.mental data, indicating that this is the likely exper.mentally synthesized isomer. This study demonstr.tes the technical utility of the computational calculations b. vir.ue of situations that pr.vent the r.alization of X-r.y diffr.ction.
