Introduction:Communities situated in protected areas generate conflicts among park administrators,residents and *** they stay or should they go?This article presents a positive example of a community existing in a state *** study describes the community’s governance process as well as how the park administration and the community solve the conflicts that arise and achieve a method of co-management in a multi-level governance ***:The analysis is based on the management and Transition Framework(mTF).We used a case study approach and collected data via document study,participatory observation and qualitative ***:We find that the agreed system of community-based co-management has improved the implementation and enforcement of the state park’s rules through negotiation and communication mechanisms in the park *** relative success is due to the construction of social capital,equality and ***:For state parks in similar situations,the findings suggest that:1)a community should have at least a minimal level of self-organization;2)the empowerment of the community in the decision-making process is useful;3)the park administration should gain the trust of the residents;and 4)the effective management of ecosystem services can create a win-win situation for the community as well as the park.

Shear Rate Effect on the Viscosity of Homemade and Commercial Tomato Sauce

Rheological characterization of tomato products is important not only for design of unit operations, but also to optimizeprocesses and guarantee high quality of food products. Time dependence is related with structural changes due to shear rate. Thus,rheological characterization as a function of time is extremely important to understand the changes that occurred in food productsduring commercial processes. However, these characterizations are rare in the literature for tomato products. Those rheologicalproperties depend of several parameters, such as agronomic, structural and process parameters. In this study, the effect of shear rateon the viscosity at room temperature （22 ~C） of two kinds of tomato sauce （homemade and commercial） is analyzed; using aBrookfield viscometer model 4535, Lab-Line Instruments. Homemade sauce was prepared with fresh saladette tomatoes from a localmarket. Rheological analysis was performed at shear rates from 0.05 to 10.47 sl; using all the spindles available. Statistical analysiswas made using LSD and Duncan tests with a confidence interval of 95% （p-value of 0.05）. It was demonstrated that homemade andcommercial tomato sauce behaved as a thixotropic fluid, due to the typical decrease on viscosity samples observed when testing timewas increased. When tomato sauce is at rest, it has a gelled tridimensional structure; and, as soon as a shear stress is applied, themovement generates an alignment of tomato constituent chains in flow direction, breaking physic entanglements and thus causing adecrease in viscosity as a function of time. Furthermore, it was discovered that the viscosity of homemade sauce was higher than theviscosity of commercial sauce. The latter may be due to the pre-thermal treatment. During this unit operation, polymeric chains oflycopene most likely break into smaller chains of isoprene, causing the observed decrease in viscosity. Objective: Although Angelica archangelica is a medicinal and aromatic plant with a long history of use for both medicinal and food purposes, there are no studies regarding the antineoplastic activity of its *** study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxicity and antitumor effects of the crude extract of A. archangelica root(CEAA) on breast ***: The cytotoxicity of CEAA against breast adenocarcinoma cells(4T1 and mCF-7) was evaluated by a 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide(mTT) assay. morphological and biochemical changes were detected by Hoechst 33342/propidium iodide(PI) and annexin V/PI staining. Cytosolic calcium mobilization was evaluated in cells staining with FURA-4 NW. Immunoblotting was used to determine the effect of CEAA on anti-and pro-apoptotic proteins(Bcl-2 and Bax, respectively).The 4 T1 cell-challenged mice were used for in vivo ***: Using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis, angelicin, a constituent of the roots and leaves of A. archangelica, was found to be the major constituent of the CEAA evaluated in this study(73 mg/mL). The CEAA was cytotoxic for both breast cancer cell lines studied but not for human fibroblasts. Treatment of 4 T1 cells with the CEAA increased Bax protein levels accompanied by decreased Bcl-2 expression, in the presence of cleaved caspase-3 and cytosolic calcium mobilization, suggesting mitochondrial involvement in breast cancer cell death induced by the CEAA in this cell line. No changes on the Bcl-2/Bax ratio were observed in CEAA-treated mCF7 cells. Gavage administration of the CEAA(500 mg/kg) to 4T1 cell-challenged mice significantly decreased tumor growth when compared with untreated ***: Altogether, our data show the antitumor potential of the CEAA against breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Further research is necessary to better elucidate the pharmacological application of the CEAA in breast cancer therapy.

Objective: Prostate secretory protein of 94 amino acids(PSP94) is a target gene of the EZH2 transcriptional repressor and is often downregulated in prostate cancer;however, its prognostic value is ***: Immunohistochemical analysis of a tissue microarray of 12, 432 prostate cancer specimens was performed to evaluate PSP94 expression. Correlation of PSP94 expression with tumor phenotype, patient prognosis, TmPRSS2:ERG fusion status, EZH2 expression and PTEN deletion was ***: PSP94 expression was increased in benign prostatic hyperplasia;however, it was downregulated in 48% and negative in42% of the 9, 881 interpretable prostate cancer specimens. The loss of PSP94 expression was inversely correlated to EZH2 expression(P mor stage, and nodal metastasis(P mens increased from 40% in pT2 to 52%in pT3 b-pT4(P m 40% in Gleason 3+3 = 6 to 46% in Gleason 4+3 = 7 and 60% in Gleason ≥4+4 = 8(P mpact in cancer specimens with PTEN deletion. Loss of PSP94 deteriorated prognosis of cancer patients with PTEN deletion by more than 10%(P mbination of PTEN deletion and PSP94 loss provided independent prognostic information that was observed in several subgroups defined by classical and quantitative Gleason ***: The results of our study suggest that combined PSP94/PTEN analysis can be potentially used in the clinical prognosis of prostate cancer.

Transient elastography: A non-invasive tool for assessing liver fibrosis in HIV/HCV patients

AIm: To assess the prevalence of advanced liver fibrosis (ALF) in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C virus (HCV) and HIV/HCV patients using transient elastography, and to identify factors associated with ALF. mETHODS: Between September 2008 and October 2009, 71 HIV mono-infected, 57 HIV/HCV co-infected and 53 HCV mono-infected patients on regular follow-up at our Center were enrolled in this study. Alcohol intake, the main parameters of liver function, presence of HCV-RNA, HIV-RNA, duration of highly active anti-retroviraltherapy (HAART) and CD4 cell count were recorded. ALF was defined as liver stiffness (LS) ≥ 9.5 kPa. To estimate liver fibrosis (LF) a further 2 reliable biochemical scores, aspartate aminotransferase platelet ratio index (APRI) and FIB-4, were also used. RESULTS: LS values of co-infected patients were higher than in either HIV or HCV mono-infected patients (χ 2m H = 4, P mono-infected pa-tients (χ 2 = 5, P more LF in co-infected than in HIV mono-infect-ed patients (P mono-infected patients. In HIV?HCV co-infected patients, the extent of LS was significantly associated with alcohol intake (P mass index, dia-betes, HCV-and HIV-viremia were not significantly cor-related with LS. In addition, 20% of co-infected patients had virologically unsuccessful HAART; in 50% compliance was low, CD4+ levels were mm 3 and LS was > 9.5 kPa. There was no significant correlation between extent of LF and HAART exposure or duration of HAART exposure, in particular with specific dideoxynucleoside analogues. mangroves perform essential functions in biological cycles and are protected by law in Brazil. However, they are being degraded above their support limit, leading to a reduction in the areas around the world. The area investigated in the present study is a potentially unpolluted mangrove ecosystem in the south of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. The aim of this work was to investigate the presence of metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in mangrove sediment and to correlate them with mutagenic and genotoxic activity. Four seasonal samplings undertaken between 2009 and 2010 at five sites were analyzed. Dichloromethane extracts were obtained under sonication and subjected to mutagenicity assays using Salmonella microsuspension. metal (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni and Pb) contents were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry, while the quantification of PAHs was performed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Goniopsis cruentata hemocytes were used to assess potential genotoxic damage (micronucleus assay). The absence of mutagenicity was observed for all samples using Salmonella typhimurium strains TA97, TA98, TA100 and TA102, in the absence and presence of an exogenous mammalian metabolizing system. Among the metals, Cd and Cu were detected in autumn at values exceeding the threshold effect level and below the probable effect level. Benzo[a] pyrene was detected at levels above the threshold at one site, where small effects could be observed in the biota. Significant differences in the micronucleated cells observed suggest DNA damage had been induced by the PAHs identified.

Reverse Engineering Activity Diagrams from Object Oriented Code： An mDA-Based Approach

The success of system modernization depends on the existence of technical frameworks for information integration and tool interoperation like the model Driven Architecture （mDA）. Reverse engineering techniques play a crucial role in system modernization. This paper describes how to reverse engineering activity diagrams from object oriented code in the mDA context focusing on transformations at model and metamodel levels. A framework to reverse engineering mDA models from object oriented code that distinguishes three different abstraction levels linked to models, metamodels and formal specifications, is described. At model level, transformations are based on static and dynamic analysis. At metamodel level, transformations are specified as 0CL （Object Constraint Language） contracts between m0F （meta Object Facility） metamodels which control the consistency of these transformations. The level of formal specification includes algebraic specifications of mOF metamodels and metamodel-based transformations. This paper analyzes a recovery process of activity diagrams from Java code by applying static and dynamic analysis and shows a formalization of this process in terms of mOF metamodels. The authors validate their approach by using Eclipse modeling Framework, Ecore metamodels and ATL （Atlas Transformation Language）.

In this paper, a comparative study of the XRD characterization and FTIR spectroscopic behavior of some m^ILn^IIITiO4 phases with m^I： Na, H, K and Ln^III, the trivalent lanthanides elements： Sm, Eu, Er and Yb is reported. The H and K- oxides were obtained by ion-exchange from NaLnTiO4. These ternary oxides belong to the K2NiF4 structural type, with the m^I and Ln^III cations distributed in an ordered way on the K-sub lattice. The FTIR spectra of the materials were analyzed by comparison with structurally related materials. A close relationship with the parent NaLnTiO4 was found.

Biochar from bio-waste pyrolysis presents excellent CO_(2) sequestration *** study innovated the design of cement-bonded particleboards utilizing a substantial amount of 50-70 wt.%pre-soaked biochar to render the products *** investigated the roles of biochar in magnesium oxysulfate cement(mOSC)system and demonstrated good mechanical and functional properties of biochar cement *** the presence of biochar,the amounts of hydration products were enriched in the cement systems as illustrated by the thermogravi-metric analyses(TGA)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).We further incorporated supplementary cementitious materials(SCms)and generated 5 mg(OH)_(2)⋅mgSO_(4)·7H_(2)O(5-1-7)phase in the mOSC *** a result,our designs of biochar particleboards satisfied the standard requirements for flexural strength(>5.5 mPa)and thickness swelling(moreover,our biochar particleboards presented a low thermal conductivity as the biochar pores disrupted thermal bridging within *** illustrated that the high dosage ratio of biochar could significantly offset the CO_(2) emissions of the particleboards(i.e.,carbon-negative)via life cycle *** economic profits could also be accomplished for the biochar *** instance,the 50BC-mOSC bonded particleboard(with 50 wt.%pre-soaked biochar as aggregate,50 wt.%mOSC as binder)with promising mechanical properties could store 137 kg CO_(2) tonne^(−1) and yield an overall economic profit of 92 to 116 USD m^(−3) depending on the carbon prices in different *** summary,our new designs of carbon-negative biochar particleboards could curtail carbon emissions in the construction materials and promote the realization of carbon neutrality and circular economy.
