The integration of additive manufacturing(AM)in design and engineering has prompted a wide spectrum of research efforts,involving topologically optimized solid/lattice structures,multimaterial structures,bioinspired organic structures,and multiscale structures,to name a ***,except for obvious cases,very little attention has been given to the design and printing of more complex three-dimensional(3D)hollow structures or folded/creased *** of the main reasons is that such complex open or closed 3D cavities and regular/freeform folds generally lead to printing difficulties from support-structure-related *** address this barrier,this paper aims to investigate four-dimensional(4D)printing as well as origami-based design as an original research direction to design and build 3D support-free hollow *** work consists of describing the rough 3D hollow structures in terms of two-dimensional(2D)printed origami precursor layouts without any support *** origami-based definitions are then embodied with folding functions that can be actuated and fulfilled by 3D printed smart *** desired 3D shape is then built once an external stimulus is applied to the active materials,therefore ensuring the transformation of the 2D origami layout to 3D *** demonstrate the relevance of the proposal,some illustrative cases are introduced.

The effects of site occupation on the phase stability,martensitic transformation,and the magnetic and electronic properties of a full series of Ni-Mn-In alloys are theoretically studied by using the ab initio *** indicate that the excess atoms of the rich component directly take the sublattices of the deficient components of the Ni2Mn_(1+x)In_(1-x),Ni2-xMn_(1+x)In,and Ni_(2+x)Mn_(1-x)In ***,the mixed and indirect site occupations may coexist in the Ni_(2+x)Mn In_(1-x)*** relevant magnetic configurations of the austenite for the four alloy systems have also been *** results show that,except for the austenite in the Ni2-xMn_(1+x)In alloys,which tend to be ferrimagnetic,the other alloys all present ferromagnetic ***,the site occupation and associated magnetic states are the crucial influencing factors of the phase stability,martensitic transformation,and the total magnetic *** electronic structure of the austenite phase also shows that the covalent bonding plays an important role in the phase *** key finding of this work is both Ni2Mn_(1+x)In_(1-x)and Ni_(2+x)Mn In_(1-x)alloys serve as the potential shape memory alloys.

Composition-Dependent of 6 M Martensite Structure and Magnetism in Cu-Alloyed Ni-Mn-In-Co by First-Principles Calculations

The composition dependence of the crystal structure and magnetism of the 6 M martensite for the Cu-doped Ni_(43.75)Mn_(37.5)In_(12.5)Co_(6.25) alloy at different site occupations(Cu substitution for Ni, Mn, In, and Co, respectively) is investigated in detail with the first-principles calculations. Results show that the austenite(A) phase exhibits a ferromagnetic(FM) state in all occupation manners, the 6 M martensite possesses an FM state except for the case of Cu substitution at the normal Mn(Mn1) site, and the non-modulated(NM) martensite displays a ferrimagnetic(FIM) state apart from the Cu substitution at the Ni, Mn1, or In sites. The Cu atom destabilizes the A, 6 M, and NM phases regardless of the occupation manner. The one-step martensitic transformation from the A to NM phase occurs in the case of Cu substituting for Mn1, excess Mn(Mn2), or Co;for Cu substituting Ni, a martensitic transformation including 6 M martensite happens, i.e., A → 6 M → NM;however, the martensitic transformation disappears when Cu replaces In site. From the equilibrium lattice constants, it can be speculated that the substitution of Cu for Ni can effectively reduce the thermal hysteresis( ΔT_(Hys)). The magnetic properties are found to be greatly reduced by the substitution of the non-magnetic element Cu for the ferromagnetic Mn atom, whereas the effect is fewer in the remaining cases. It is predicted that the alloy has more favorable properties when Cu replaces Ni. The present results can lay a theoretical foundation for further development of multielement magnetic shape memory alloys.

Corrosion of cookware is a growing concern for the durability of materials. A rapidly emerging theme that is one of the major current societal challenges at the interface of environmental and health issues. In this present work, the corrosion of aluminum in food environments (salt water and fresh tomatoes) was studied. The three aluminum utensils were purchased in the various workshops in Brazzaville (Republic of the Congo). The weight loss method followed the effect of cooking media on cookware, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and fluorescence (XRF) are two methods used to characterize alloys. XRF analysis indicates that the samples consist of aluminum as a basic element. XRD reveals that the essential building blocks of cookware samples are aluminum, silicon, iron, copper, magnesium and zinc. Finally, gravimetric measurements are carried out to assess the mass losses of samples of artisanal kitchen utensils when cooking food. Aluminum is found to be sensitive in TF and OS media.

Decomposition and decoupling analysis of carbon dioxide emissions in African countries during 1984–2014

The potential for mitigating climate change is growing worldwide,with an increasing emphasis on reducing CO_(2)emissions and minimising the impact on the *** continent is faced with the unique challenge of climate change whilst coping with extreme poverty,explosive population growth and economic ***_(2)emission patterns in Africa are analysed in this study to understand primary CO_(2)sources and underlying driving forces *** are examined using gravity model,logarithmic mean divisia index and Tapio's decoupling indicator of CO_(2)emissions from economic development in 20 selected African countries during *** reveal that CO_(2)emissions increased by 2.11%(453.73 million ton)over the research *** centre for African CO_(2)emissions had shifted towards the northeast *** and economic growth were primary driving forces of CO_(2)*** structure and emission efficiency effects partially offset the growth of CO_(2)*** economic growth effect was an offset factor in central African countries and Zimbabwe due to political instability and economic *** structure and emission efficiency were insufficient to decouple economic development from CO_(2)emissions and relieve the pressure of population explosion on CO_(2)emissions in ***,future efforts in reducing CO_(2)emissions should focus on scaleup energy-efficient technologies,renewable energy update,emission pricing and long-term green development towards sustainable development goals by 2030.

A New Physics Would Explain What Looks Like an Irreconcilable Tension between the Values of Hubble Constants and Allows H0to Be Calculated Theoretically Several Ways

Observing galaxies receding from each other, Hubble found the universe’s expansion in 1929. His law that gives the receding speed as a function of distance implies a factor called Hubble constant H0. We want to validate our theoretical value of H0 ≈ 72.09548580(32) km⋅s-1⋅MParsec-1 with a new cosmological model found in 2019. This model predicts what may look like two possible values of H0. According to this model, the correct equation of the apparent age of the universe gives ~ 14.14 billion years. In approximation, we get the well-known equation 1/H0 ≈ 13.56 billion years. When we force these ages to fit the 1/H0 formula, it gives two different Hubble constant values of ~69.2 and 72.1 km

Several Ways to Calculate the Universal Gravitational Constant GTheoretically and Cubic Splines to Verify Its Measured Value

In 1686, Newton discovered the laws of gravitation [1] and predicted the universal gravitational constant . In 1798, with a torsion balance, Cavendish [2] measured . Due to the low intensity of gravitation, it is difficult to obtain reliable results because they are disturbed by surrounding masses and environmental phenomena. Modern physics is unable to link G with other constants. However, in a 2019 article [3], with a new cosmological model, we showed that G seams related to other constants, and we obtained a theoretical value of . Here, we want to show that our theoretical value of G is the right one by interpreting measurements of G with the help of a new technique using cubic splines. We make the hypothesis that most G measurements are affected by an unknown systematic error which creates two main groups of data. We obtain a measured value of . Knowing that our theoretical value of G is in agreement with the measured value, we want to establish a direct link between G and as many other constants as possible to show, with 33 equations, that G is probably linked with most constants in the universe. These equations may be useful for astrophysicists who work in this domain. Since we have been able to link G with Hubble parameter H0 (which evolve since its reverse gives the apparent age of the universe), we deduce that G is likely not truly constant. The wave equation of the electron, recently improved, allows physics to obtain all the quantum numbers and other results explaining the hydrogen spectrum. The Pauli exclusion principle then gives the description of electron clouds used in chemistry. The relativistic wave equation is associated with a Lagrangian density, thus also with an energy-momentum tensorial density. The wave of an electron cloud adds these energy-momentum densities, while photons in light are precisely those differences between such energy-momentum densities.
