The objective of this study was to determine the sample size needed to evaluate characters of mature fruits of yellow mombin (Spondias mombin L.). 100 fruits were evaluated from plants grown under a shading system. In the laboratory, these fruits were measured by the characters: longitudinal length (mm);equatorial diameter (mm);fruit mass (g);yield of pulp (%);total soluble solids—TSS (°Brix);titratable acidity—TA (% citric acid) and ratio (TSS/TA), being calculated the measures of central tendency and dispersion, and verified normality. Next, the sample size for each character was determined. For experimental evaluation of cajámirim fruits, considering an accuracy of 10% around the mean, 40 fruits per treatment should be evaluated, considering a completely randomized experiment.

Grape processing generates residues rich in bioactive compounds with potential application in the meat ***,these substances are unstable and needs to be treated to allow their action during the processing and storage of meat *** this sense,a phenolic-rich extract from grape pomace was microencapsulated and evaluated for its potential to inhibit the oxidative process in raw and precooked beef burgers during cold *** hamburger formulations containing lyophilized extract(LEB),microencapsulated extract(MEB)and synthetic antioxidant sodium erythorbate(SEB)were prepared,pre-cooked,and evaluated for lipid and protein *** microencapsulation,with 95.0%efficiency,provided a material with a crystalline structure,rich in phenolics and with high antioxidant potential,showing 377.4±0.01,1768.1±0.07 and 1185.0±0.20μmol TEAC.100 g−1 for DPPH,ABTS and FRAP,*** values of malonaldehyde were found in LEB and MEB(2.9±0.3 and 1.4±0.5 mg ***−1,respectively)at the end of storage,with emphasis on for the hamburgers that received the microencapsulated *** behavior was observed for the analysis of carbonyl compounds,with values of 11.1±1.1,8.7±1.4 and 6.8±1.0 nM ***−1 in SEB,LEB and MEB,***,the freeze-dried and microencapsulated grape extracts showed superior results when compared to the synthetic antioxidant,increasing the oxidative stability of hamburgers,and avoiding significant color changes during the cold *** results indicate the high potential of the microencapsulated material to be used as a natural antioxidant in the meat industry.

Studies about the parasite fauna of marine fish highlights as an important problem for public health with zoonotic parasites or affecting the fish ***,this study evaluated the parasite fauna of Lutjanus synagris commercialized in the fish market from Braganç*** laboratory,58 fish were measured,weighted and conducted to parasitological analysis to determine parasitological indexes and relative *** parasite was fixed and identified until to the lowest taxonomic *** the parasitological analysis,it found Cymothoidae,Digenea,Cucullanus *** Procamallanus(Spirocamallanus)sp.,with total prevalence 67.24%.Digenea showed the highest prevalence and mean intensity *** nematode,Cucullanus *** the greater prevalence and relative dominance,while Procamallanus(Spirocamallanus)*** the greater mean intensity and *** showed the lowest prevalence and mean intensity *** conclusion,the parasite fauna of *** has been noted with low diversity,reporting the nematode occurrence Procamallanus(Spirocamallanus).

Introduction: The use of pedicle screws increases postoperative stability and consolidation of arthrodesis. Pedicle arthrodesis is currently the standard treatment for the thoracolumbar spine, presenting the best fusion and stiffness rates, and among its main indications is the possibility of better correction of spine deformities in the thoracic and lumbar region. However, due to different definitions and the lack of a control group, many of these studies have limited comparative analysis, resulting in the scarcity of comparative studies with standardized methodology. Objective: It was to analyze, through a systematic review, the safety and efficacy of instrumentation with pedicle screws in the spine which have been questioned, despite its wide use for stabilization of the spine, comparing the complications present in the insertion techniques of pedicle screws. Methods: The rules of the Systematic Review-PRISMA were followed. The literary search process was carried out from January to March 2023. A bibliographic search was carried out in MEDLINE, PubMed, and Scielo for articles produced between 2001 and 2023. The quality of the studies was based on the GRAde instrument, and the risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. The Cohen test (Funnel Plot) and The Heterogeneity Test (Chi-Square Test – X2) were performed, with p Results and Conclusion: A total of 134 articles were found. A total of 67 articles were evaluated in full and 12 were selected to compose the results of this systematic review. According to the GRAde instrument, most studies (X2 = 90.2% > 50%) followed a controlled clinical study model and had a good methodological design, with p cle screws is the most common cause of complications. Incorrect discard of oil used by fishing ship in the brazilian north region has become a common *** the possible hazard to the aquatic organisms,still missing scientific data about their ***,this study aimed to evaluate the stress and lethality caused by lubricant oil(FSAOLU)on fish Hyphessobrycon ***,it was used six different concentration diluted in water(0,22,24,26,28,30 and 32%of oil)and three replaces during 96 *** the end or during the experiment(with dying fish),it was collected blood samples(cutting the caudal fin)to determine physiological *** FSAOLU showed mean lethal dose(LD50-96h)of 27.36%,classified as toxic causing alterations in glucose values from the 26%.The greater dilution of FSAOLU(32%)increased 115%in glucose values when compared to the ***,lubricant oil when discarded in water,it present hazard to the aquatic organisms causing stress and mortality for fish being necessary adequate management to discard of this residue.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)that causes coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in humans has zoonotic tendencies,which can potentially provoke cross-species transmission,including human-to-animal and animal-to-human ***,the objective was to analyze the scientific evidence regarding SARS-CoV-2 animal infections from potential human transmission.A systematic review was executed following the PRISMA guidelines,in the PubMed/MEDLINE,Google Scholar and LILACS,using the descriptors combined in the following way:((“SARS-CoV-2”OR“COVID-19”OR“2019-nCoV”)AND(animals OR zoonosis)).The results contemplated the viral susceptibility of about thirty animal species when induced naturally and/or *** mink&hamster species demonstrated ostensible animal-to-human ***,there have been more reports of human contamination by other species than human retransmission from the *** natural infection of the virus was discovered in domestic dogs&cats,wild cats,deer,minks,rabbits and *** animals,including the African green monkeys and rabbits,manifested high levels of viremia,respiratory secretions and fecal excretions of infectious virus conducive to environmental/aerosol *** is still inadequately documented the intrinsic role of such processes,such as the animals'involvement in viral mutations,the emergence of new variants/lineages and the role of the animal host ***,this research model type,natural and experimental analysis on varying animal species,corroborates the link between the two aforementioned forms of *** surveillance through extensive sequencing of the viral genomes of infected animals and humans can reveal the SARS-CoV-2 transmission routes and anticipate appropriate prophylactic strategies.

Samples of raw milk from bulk cooling tanks were collected in five municipalities of the Southwestern Brazilian Amazon to establish the prevalence of Staphylococcus aueus and Streptococcus agalactiae, as well as to evaluate the milk composition and its correlation with the bulk tank somatic cell count (BTSCC). A total of 250 samples were collected to investigate the causal agents of bovine mastitis in whole milk, from 50 bulk milk tanks in each municipality. Under laboratory conditions, the samples were diluted to 1/10 and 1/100, and samples of 0.1 ml from each dilution were plated in triplicate on selective media for Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae. To evaluate the correlation between the major milk components (fat, protein and lactose) and the BTSCC, samples were collected for 18 months from 73 dairy herds. The presence of the above-mentioned contagious mastitis pathogens was detected in 97.2% (243/250) of refrigerated raw milk samples evaluated. Analysis of the major milk components and BTSCC demonstrated that during the study period, fat compo-nent showed the largest variance, followed by protein and lactose, which also showed significant variances.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CovV-2)infection is associated with a hyperinflammatory state and lymphocytopenia,a hallmark that appears as both signature and prognosis of disease severity *** cytokine storm and a sustained inflammatory state are commonly associated with immune cell depletion,it is still unclear whether direct SARS-Cov-2 infection of immune cells could also play a role in this scenario by harboring viral *** found that monocytes,as well as both B and T lymphocytes,were susceptible to SARS-Cov-2 infection in vitro,accumulating double-stranded RNA consistent with viral RNA replication and ultimately leading to expressive T cell *** addition,flow cytometry and immunofluorescence analysis revealed that SARS-Cov-2 was frequently detected in monocytes and B lymphocytes from coronavirus disease 2019(CoVID-19)*** rates of SARS-Cov-2-infected monocytes in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from CoVID-19 patients increased over time from symptom onset,with SARS-CoV-2-positive monocytes,B cells,and CD4+T lymphocytes also detected in postmortem lung *** results indicated that SARS-CoV-2 infection of blood-circulating leukocytes in covID-19 patients might have important implications for disease pathogenesis and progression,immune dysfunction,and virus spread within the host.
