Electronic structure regulation and built-in electric field synergistically strengthen photocatalytic nitrogen fixation performance on Ti-BiOBr/TiO_(2)heterostructure

At present,industrial synthetic ammonia was still obtained through the Hubble-Bosch process,with large energy *** is a research hotspot to realize green synthetic ammonia by using solar *** difficulty of photocatalytic ammonia synthesis was that the photo-excited electrons have not enough energy to active N≡*** this study,Ti was doped into BiOBr by one-step hydrothermal method,which was oxidized into TiO_(2)when the doping amount reaches the maximum,in situ forming Ti_(0.31)B_(0.69)OB/TiO_(2)*** from the synergistic effect of Ti doping and S-scheme heterojunction,the synthetic ammonia efficiency of Ti_(0.31)B_(0.69)OB/TiO_(2)-11.96 reached 1.643 mmol·g_(cat)^(-1)at mild conditions and without hole scavenger for up to 7 h,the efficiency of synthetic ammonia is 115 times,10.5 times and 3.3 times of that of BiOBr,Ti_(0.31)B_(0.69)OB and TiO_(2),***,DFT calculation confirms that Ti doping accurately refine the electronic structure of BiOBr,facilitate nitrogen adsorption activation and reduce hydrogenation reaction energy barrier,thus accelerating the reaction kinetics of photocatalytic nitrogen reduction(NRR),Meanwhile,constructing S-scheme heterojunction boosts the separation and transfer of photogenerated electron-hole pairs,improving the reduction ability of electrons in the conduction band of TiO_(2)and the oxidation ability of holes in the valence band of Ti_(0.31)B_(0.69)OB.

The construction of a new beamline,BL10U1,was completed at the Shanghai synchrotron radiation facility in *** multipurpose beamline was designed to provide X-ray scattering techniques such as ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering(USAXS),small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS),wide-angle X-ray scattering,and microfocus SAXS(μSAXS)for a broad user *** realize fast time-resolved USAXS experiments,the beamline adopted an in-vacuum undulator with a total length of 1.6 m as the photon *** in-house cryogenic-cooled double multilayer monochromator was installed to deliver a photon flux of approximately 10^(13) photons/s at a photon energy of 10 *** three-year successful operation of this beamline demonstrated that the monochromator operated smoothly,as ***10U1 has three end stations in succession:USAXS end station,μSAXS end station,and end station for industrial *** minimum scattering vector q~0.0042 nm^(-1) at 10 keV can be achieved at the USAXS end station equipped with a 28 m-long and 1.8 m-diameter vacuum flight *** theμSAXS end station,a beam spot of less than 10×8μm was achieved for micro-SAXS *** contrast,in situ experimental instruments up to 5 m high and 8 m wide can be mounted at the industrial application end station,which offers industrial scientists the opportunity to use their large industrial ***10U1 opens up a new capability to investigate phenomena such as non-equilibrium and dynamic processes of materials with a wide length scale from angstroms to micrometers with millisecond time *** this paper,we also report beamline design considerations and commissioning results.

Directed Self-assembly of Vertical PS-b-PMMA Nanodomains Grown on Multilayered Polyelectrolyte Films

Layer-by-layer polyelectrolyte self-assembly, a common method for preparing high-quality ultra-thin films, was employed to direct the self-assembly behavior of polystyrene-block-poly(methyl methacrylate)(PS-b-PMMA) block copolymer for the first time. Differing from the previous neutral polymer brushes anchored to silicon substrates via chemical modification, polyelectrolyte multilayers(PEMs) were anchored by electrostatic interaction and provided a stable, smooth, and neutral interface. In the present study, PS-b-PMMA was deposited on poly(acrylamide hydrochloride)/poly(acrylic acid)(PAH/PAA) PEMs prepared by layer-by-layer self-assembly to successfully yield vertical nanodomains after thermal annealing. Seven layered PEMs revealed an excellent, smooth surface, with a low roughness of 0.6 nm. The periodic structure with interlamellar spacing of 47 nm was determined by grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering(GISAXS). The morphology of the PS-b-PMMA nanodomains depended on the polyanion-to-polycation concentration ratio, which is related to the interaction between the block copolymer and the substrate. Our results demonstrate that layer-by-layer self-assembly is a helpful method for the phase separation of block polymers and the fabrication of vertical, ordered nanodomains.

The introduction of solvent additives is one of the most common approaches for enhancing the power conversion efficiency of organic solar cells(OSCs).However,the use of solvent additives has some negative effects,and an understanding of how solvent additives affect OSCs is currently *** this study,we developed an in situ grazing incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering(GIWAXS)technique in the SAXS beamline(BL16 B1)at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility,and the additive effects of1,8-diiodoctane(DIO)on the performance and morphology evolution of the PTB7-Th/PC71 BM device was investigated in *** results revealed that the crystal size increased with the volume ratio of DIO,and a drastic evolution of lattice space and crystal coherence length was observed during thermal annealing for the first time,to our *** discrete PC71BM molecules dissolved by DIO have an effect similar to that of the nucleating agent for PTB7-Th,boosting the crystallization of PTB7-Th,reducing phase separation,and inducing more drastic morphological evolution during thermal *** results provide a deep perspective for the mechanism of solvent additives,while also showing the significance and feasibility of the in situ GIWAXS technique we developed at BL16 B1.

Roles of fibroblast growth factors in the treatment of diabetes

Diabetes affects about 422 million people worldwide,causing 1.5 million deaths each ***,the incidence of diabetes is increasing,including several types of *** 1 diabetes(5%-10%of diabetic cases)and type 2 diabetes(90%-95%of diabetic cases)are the main types of diabetes in the *** evidence shows that the fibroblast growth factor(FGF)family plays important roles in many metabolic disorders,including type 1 and type 2 *** consists of 23 family members(FGF-1-23)in ***,we review current findings of FGFs in the treatment of diabetes and management of diabetic *** FGFs(e.g.,FGF-15,FGF-19,and FGF-21)have been broadly investigated in preclinical studies for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes,and their therapeutic roles in diabetes are currently under investigation in clinical ***,the roles of FGFs in diabetes and diabetic complications are involved in numerous ***,FGF intervention can prevent high-fat diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance and reduce the levels of fasting blood glucose and triglycerides by regulating lipolysis in adipose tissues and hepatic glucose ***,modulation of FGF expression can inhibit renal and cardiac fibrosis by regulating the expression of extracellular matrix components,promote diabetic wound healing process and bone repair,and inhibit cancer cell proliferation and ***,FGFs can regulate the activation of glucoseexcited neurons and the expression of thermogenic genes.

Vortex identification based on the Liutex method and its effect on fish passage upstream

Fishway research is important for mitigating the fragmentation of river habitats caused by hydraulic *** vertical slit fishway is a broadly used fishway type because of its high efficiency and adaptability to water ***,the resulting vortex current disrupts the fish passage hence directly affecting fish *** study aims to accurately capture the vortex structure in the fishway and analyze the effect of vortex elements(vortex structure,vortex intensity,etc.)on *** conducted an analysis of the 3-D current flow field in the fishway through the utilization of an experimental model and the large eddy simulation(LES)***,we captured the vortex information in the fishway at different flow rates using the Liutex vortex identification method and investigated the effect of the vortex on fish *** results revealed that the structures inside the fishway pool occupy most of the room,however,the areas with higher vortex strength were primarily located in the vortex near the vertical seam and the mainstream,the vortex strength inside the fishway gradually increases with increasing flow,suppressing fish *** experienced significantly increased resistance when encountering strong *** suggests that the vortex may act as a physical barrier to fish *** findings highlight the potential negative effects of vortex on fish movement and reiterate the importance of understanding vortex dynamics for aquatic environmental *** an effective tool for identifying vortices in fluid flow,the Liutex method demonstrates features of vortex within the fishway,thereby providing important insights into the interaction between fluid dynamics and aquatic organisms.

The influence of solute Ce,Mn,and Si on the mechanical properties of silicon steel was investigated by first-principles ***,Mn,and Si can all be solubilized in Fe *** significantly reduces the incompressibility and rigidity of the system but also significantly improves the toughness and *** effect of Mn on mechanical properties of the system is not *** has a significant effect on the improvement in incompressibility and rigidity but a limited effect on the improvement in toughness and *** metallic bond strength of Fe-Ce,Fe-Mn,and Fe-Si doped systems is weaker than that of the pure Fe system,which can be used to explain the reduction in the incompressibility and rigidity of these doped *** relatively high electron cloud density in the doped system may be responsible for the increase in toughness.

Elastic three-dimensional phononic topological insulators with Dirac hierarchy

Three-dimensional(3D)phononic topological insulators(TIs)featuring two-dimensional(2D)surface states and one-dimensional(1D)hinge states have opened up a new route for multi-dimensional robust wave transport,providing unprecedented methods for integrated acoustic sensors and energy harvesting ***,aiming at the elastic 3D phononic TI with gapless surface states and hinge states,the realization of elastic 3D phononic TIs with gapless surface states and hinge states is a significant challenge due to the complicated multi-mode polarization of elastic waves in 3D *** this study,we demonstrate an elastic 3D phononic TI with a Dirac hierarchy by elaborately operating the corresponding spatial symmetries of the chiral honeycomb ***,a 3D double Dirac cone of elastic wave can be achieved by doubling the lattice along the outof-plane direction to fold two iso-frequency Weyl *** topological phase transitions and 2D gapless two-fold Dirac surface states of elastic wave are realized by breaking the half-lattice spatial translation ***,based on the Brillouin zone folding along the in-plane direction,the 2D gapless two-fold surface Dirac cones are folded into four-fold surface Dirac ***,by inducing the relative radius of adjacent holes to break the in-plane spatial inversion symmetry,the fourfold surface Dirac cones are gapped and associated with a surface state inversion,in which the gapless 1D hinge Dirac dispersion is *** research offers a route for engineering the hierarchies of TIs in 3D elastic wave systems and provides new possibilities for designing 3D ultrasonic devices with unconventional functions.

Intermediate phase-assisted growth of CsPbBr_(3) for high performance of carbon-based perovskite solar cells

CsPbBr_(3)inorganic perovskites have been regarded as the promising materials in the field of photo-voltaics because of the high tolerance against *** high energy barrier of phase transition from lead bromide(PbBr_(2))to CsPbBr_(3)perovskite and low solubility of perovskite in organic solvent impede the further improvement of device performance in terms of CsPbBr_(3)solar ***,an intermediate phase-assisted growth of CsPbBr_(3)perovskite was proposed by introducing tetraphenylphosphonium bromide(TPPB)as *** TPPB is expected to react with PbBr_(2)in organic solvent to form an intermediate phase of[***]-PbBr_(2),which not only effectively improves the crystallinity of PbBr2 crystals,but also greatly reduces the phase transition energy barrier,leading to uniform and compact CsPbBr_(3)perovskite films with large grain size and high *** combination with carbon electrode,the CsPbBr_(3)solar cells yield a champion device performance of 9.57%in comparison of pristine CsPbBr_(3)solar cells showing a low efficiency of 8.17%.Furthermore,the intermediate phaseassisted growth of CsPbBr_(3)-based solar cells displays an outstanding storage over720 h.
