Stochastic Modeling and Assisted Histor.-Matching Using Multiple Techniques of Multi-Phase Flowback fr.m Multi-Fr.ctur.d Hor.zontal Tight Oil Wells

In this paper. the methods developed by?[1] ar. used to analyze flowback data, which involves modeling flow both befor. and after.the br.akthr.ugh of for.ation fluids. Despite the ver.atility of these techniques, achieving an optimal combination of par.meter. is often difficult with a single deter.inistic analysis. Because of the uncer.ainty in key model par.meter., this pr.blem is an ideal candidate for.uncer.ainty quantification and advanced assisted histor.-matching techniques, including Monte Car.o (MC) simulation and genetic algor.thms (GAs) amongst other.. MC simulation, for.example, can be used for.both the pur.ose of assisted histor.-matching and uncer.ainty quantification of key fr.ctur. par.meter.. In this wor., sever.l techniques ar. tested including both single-objective (SO) and multi-objective (MO) algor.thms for.histor.-matching and uncer.ainty quantification, using a light tight oil (LTO) field case. The r.sults of this analysis suggest that many differ.nt algor.thms can be used to achieve similar.optimization r.sults, making these viable methods for.developing an optimal set of key uncer.ain fr.ctur. par.meter.. An indication of uncer.ainty can also be achieved, which assists in under.tanding the r.nge of par.meter. which can be used to successfully match the flowback data.

r.te-tr.nsient analysis(r.A)has been widely applied to extr.ct estimates of r.ser.oir.hydr.ulic fr.ctur. ***,the major.ty of r.A techniques can lead to misdiagnosis of r.ser.oir.fr.ctur. infor.ation when the r.ser.oir.exhibits r.ser.oir.heter.geneity and multiphase flow *** wor. pr.poses a pr.ctical-yet-r.gor.us method to decouple the effects of r.ser.oir.heter.geneity and multiphase flow dur.ng TLF,and impr.ve the evaluation of r.ser.oir.fr.ctur. pr.per.ies.A new,gener.l,semi-analytical model is pr.posed that explicitly accounts for.multiphase flow,fr.ctalbased r.ser.oir.heter.geneity,anomalous diffusion,and pr.ssur.-dependent fluid *** is achieved by intr.ducing a new Boltzmann-type tr.nsfor.ation,the exponent of which includes r.ser.oir.heter.geneity and anomalous *** or.er.to decouple the effects of r.ser.oir.heter.geneity and multiphase flow dur.ng TLF,the modified Boltzmann var.able allows the conver.ion of thr.e par.ial differ.ntial equations(PDE's)(i.e.,oil,gas and water.diffusion equations)into or.inar. differ.ntial equations(ODE's)that ar. easily solved using the r.nge-Kutta(r.)method.A modified time-power.law plot is also pr.posed to estimate the r.ser.oir.and fr.ctur. pr.per.ies,r.cognizing that the classical squar.-r.ot-of-time-plot is no longer.valid when var.ous r.ser.oir.complexities ar. exhibited *** the slope of the str.ight line on the modified time-power.law plot,the linear.flow par.meter.can be estimated with mor. ***,because of the new Boltzmann-type tr.nsfor.ation,r.ser.oir.and fr.ctur. pr.per.ies can be der.ved mor. efficiently without the need for.defining complex pseudo-var.able *** the new semi-analytical model,the effects of multiphase flow,r.ser.oir.heter.geneity and anomalous diffusion on r.te-decline behavior.ar. *** the case of appr.ximately constant flowing pr.ssur.,multiphase flow impacts initial oil r.te,which is a funct
