Achieving densely packed particles is desirable within the industries of ceramics,pharmaceuticals,defence and additive *** this work,we use the discrete element method(DEM)to determine the effect of wall parameters on the final packing density of mono-disperse spheres subject to 4 varying three-dimensional vibration and fill *** focus specifically on the impact of the container wall parameters on the particles'final packing *** on from the validation of the DEM simulation the particle-wall coefficient of restitution,the particle-wall coefficient of rolling friction and the particle-wall coefficient of sliding friction were varied individually and the effect on the final packing density *** relatively low particle-particle friction glass beads,the effect of these wall properties had no discernible effect on the final packing density *** on from these findings the particle-wall properties were varied at the extreme values of particle-particle coefficient of rolling friction and particle-particle coefficient of sliding *** a particle-particle coefficient of sliding friction=1,increases in particle-wall coefficient of restitution resulted in a minor increase in the final packing density of particles though this was not statistically *** a particle-particle coefficient of sliding friction=1,increases in particle-wall coefficient of rolling friction resulted in a minor decrease in the final packing density of the particles though again not to a degree where the trend can,with complete certainty,be distinguished from the random error across the ***,when the particle-particle coefficient of sliding friction=1,increases in particle-wall coefficient of sliding friction resulted in a significant decrease in the final packing density of *** decrease was attributed to the propagation of force chains throughout the *** significant decrease in final packing density with

Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)represents one of the most common medical complications of pregnancy and is important to the well-being of both mothers and offspring in the short and long *** intervention remains the mainstay for the management of *** efficacy of nutritional approaches(*** restriction and small frequent meals)to improving the maternal-neonatal outcomes of GDM was attested to by Chinese population data,discussed in two articles in recent issues of this ***,a specific focus on the relevance of postprandial glycaemic control was *** rather than fasting hyperglycaemia often represents the predominant manifestation of disordered glucose homeostasis in Chinese women with *** is now increasing appreciation that the rate of gastric emptying,which controls the delivery of nutrients for digestion and absorption in the small intestine,is a key determinant of postprandial glycaemia in both health,type 1 and 2 *** remains to be established whether gastric emptying is abnormally rapid in GDM,particularly among Chinese women,thus contributing to a predisposition to postprandial hyperglycaemia,and if so,how this influences the therapeutic response to nutritional *** is essential that we understand the role of gastric emptying in the regulation of postprandial glycaemia during pregnancy and the potential for its modulation by nutritional strategies in order to improve postprandial glycaemic control in GDM.

Tocotrienol isoforms:The molecular mechanisms underlying their effects in cancer therapy and their implementation in clinical trials

Tocotrienols are found in a variety of natural sources,like rice bran,annatto seeds and palm oil,and have been shown to have several health-promoting properties,particularly against chronic diseases such as *** incidence of cancer is rapidly increasing around the world,not only a result of continued aging and population growth,but also due to the adoption of aspects of the Western lifestyle,such as high-fat diets and low-physical *** literature provides strong evidence that tocotrienols are able to inhibit the growth of various cancers,including breast,lung,ovarian,prostate,liver,brain,colon,myeloma and pancreatic *** findings,along with the reported safety profile of tocotrienols in healthy human volunteers,encourage further research into these compounds’potential use in cancer prevention and *** current review provided detailed information about the molecular mechanisms of action of different tocotrienol isoforms in various cancer models and evaluated the potential therapeutic effects of different vitamin E analogues on important cancer hallmarks,such as cellular proliferation,apoptosis,angiogenesis and ***/PubMed and Scopus databases were used to identify recently published articles that investigated the anticancer effects of vitamin E derivatives in various types of cancer in vitro and in vivo along with clinical evidence of adjuvant chemopreventive *** an overview of pre-clinical studies,we describe several completed and ongoing clinical trials that are paving the way for the successful implementation of tocotrienols in cancer chemotherapy.

Application of supervised machine learning to predict the enhanced gas recovery by CO2 injection in shale gas reservoirs

The technique of Enhanced Gas Recovery by CO2injection（CO2-EGR） into shale reservoirs has brought increasing attention in the recent decade. CO2-EGR is a complex geophysical process that is controlled by several parameters of shale properties and engineering design. Nevertheless, more challenges arise when simulating and predicting CO2/CH4displacement within the complex pore systems of shales. Therefore,the petroleum industry is in need of developing a cost-effective tool/approach to evaluate the potential of applying CO2injection to shale reservoirs. In recent years, machine learning applications have gained enormous interest due to their high-speed performance in handling complex data and efficiently solving practical problems. Thus, this work proposes a solution by developing a supervised machine learning（ML） based model to preliminary evaluate CO2-EGR efficiency. Data used for this work was drawn across a wide range of simulation sensitivity studies and experimental investigations. In this work, linear regression and artificial neural networks（ANNs） implementations were considered for predicting the incremental enhanced CH4. Based on the model performance in training and validation sets, our accuracy comparison showed that（ANNs） algorithms gave 15% higher accuracy in predicting the enhanced CH4compared to the linear regression model. To ensure the model is more generalizable, the size of hidden layers of ANNs was adjusted to improve the generalization ability of ANNs model. Among ANNs models presented, ANNs of 100 hidden layer size gave the best predictive performance with the coefficient of determination（R2） of 0.78 compared to the linear regression model with R2of 0.68. Our developed MLbased model presents a powerful, reliable and cost-effective tool which can accurately predict the incremental enhanced CH4by CO2injection in shale gas reservoirs.

This pilot study on humor in cultural trauma uses innovative digital methodologies in speech recognition and social media analysis via Postman and Python in the Twitter API v2 to propose different forms to gather and analyze empirical data on semiotics and humor to be used in a broader *** given example of humorous instances on the cultural trauma of 9/11 in the fictional sitcom Rick and Morty is limited but corroborated by a second example that is structurally different from the first:humor about 9/11 in stand-up comedy by Louis *** on the data,humor in trauma seems to undergo a 5-phase-typology related to the kübler-Ross model of grief,which is mended by the(digital)participation of ***,we argue,both shapes the discourse on humor in trauma and overcomes the traumatic effects through humorous discourse.

Value of phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors as a combination therapy for treating erectile dysfunction:A literature review

Erectile dysfunction(ED)is increasing in prevalence,with estimates that 50%of men between 40 and 70 years of age suffer from the *** to a wide array of available medical interventions,significant focus has been put on combination therapies that can treat ED refractory to first-line treatments such as phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors(PDE5is).However,reviews evaluating monotherapy noninferiority and patient satisfaction of monotherapy versus combination therapy are lacking.A thorough PubMed search was performed to evaluate combination therapy in ED *** published between January 2008 and June 2023 were reviewed,including randomized control trials,retrospective analyses,and cohort *** therapies included PDE5i plus another PDE5i,testosterone supplementation,α-blockers,vacuum erectile devices,intracavernosal injections,and low-intensity shockwave *** on this review,PDE5i monotherapy is not inferior to combination therapy and has increased satisfaction,convenience,and ease of use for patients with *** of current literature on combination therapy include small sample size,limited data on patient satisfaction,possible biases,and limited follow-up *** studies will need larger randomized control trials with follow-up times greater than 1 year.

With the recent observational evidence in extragalactic astronomy,the interpretation of the nature of quasar redshift continues to be a research *** high redshifts are being detected for extragalactic objects that are presumably very distant and young while also exhibiting properties that are characteristic of a more mature galaxy such as *** to Halton Arp and Geoffrey Burbidge,redshift disparities consist of an intrinsic component and are related to an evolutionary *** observed redshift periodicity at integer multiples of0.089 in log scale and Burbidge observed redshift periodicity at integer multiples of 0.061 in linear *** Singular Value Decomposition based periodicity estimation is known to be superior for noisy data sets,especially when the data contain multiple harmonics and overtones,mainly irregular in nature,we have chosen it to be our primary tool for analysis of the quasar-galaxy pair redshift *** have observed a fundamental periodicity of0.051 with a confidence interval of 95%in linear scale with the site-available Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7(SDSS DR7)quasar-galaxy pair data *** have independently generated quasar-galaxy pair data sets from both 2d F and SDSS and found fundamental periodicities of 0.077 and 0.089,respectively,in log scale with a confidence interval of 95%.
