Radix Rehmanniae Preventing Aging in Caenorhabditis Elegans through Insulin Signalling Pathway via DAF-16 for Neurodegenerative Diseases

Objective:Aging is one of the main risk factors for neurodegenerative conditions. Intriguingly,both by tinkering with particular signaling pathways and by balancing nutrition can extend the lifespan of many organisms,and prevent aging and aging-related diseases. A number of herbal medicines have been used traditionally to increase longevity and health. The traditional Chinese medicine Radix Rehmanniae( RR) a known hypoglycemic activities that prevents redox imbalance in organisms,and the Radix Rehmanniae Prepared( RRP) is that RR is processed through nine cycles of steaming and drying. This processing is considered as an important role in the therapeutic application. In this study,we will explore whether RR have anti-aging effect and its related mechanism,as well as its processed product RRP with the similarities and differences of efficacy,which could be used for preventing neurodegenerative diseases in future. Methods:We used water or 70% ethanol to extract RR and RRP for this antiaging examination. Wild or mutant *** were selected as model animals,to evaluate their bioactivities of anti-aging through life expectancy,stress resistance,dietary restriction and DAF-16 nuclear localization. Results:The results showed that these extracts of RR and RRP can increase the lifespans of N2 wild-type *** significantly,RRP showed stronger bioactivities than RR did,which could be related to the resistance enhancement in heat stress and oxidative stress,caloric restriction and lipofuscin accumulation. However,these extracts can’t effect on the lifespan of *** with daf-2 or daf-16 mutation. Meanwhile,we found the extracts of RR and RRP could increase the nuclear localization of the core transcription factor DAF-16. The longevity effect of RR and RRP could promote the prolongation of life mainly through insulin/insulin-like growth factor pathway in which daf-2/daf-16 is involved. Peri-articular elbow fracture fixations with magnesium implants and a review of current literature: A case series

Tocotrienol isoforms:The molecular mechanisms underlying their effects in cancer therapy and their implementation in clinical trials

Tocotrienols are found in a variety of natural sources,like rice bran,annatto seeds and palm oil,and have been shown to have several health-promoting properties,particularly against chronic diseases such as *** incidence of cancer is rapidly increasing around the world,not only a result of continued aging and population growth,but also due to the adoption of aspects of the Western lifestyle,such as high-fat diets and low-physical *** literature provides strong evidence that tocotrienols are able to inhibit the growth of various cancers,including breast,lung,ovarian,prostate,liver,brain,colon,myeloma and pancreatic *** findings,along with the reported safety profile of tocotrienols in healthy human volunteers,encourage further research into these compounds’potential use in cancer prevention and *** current review provided detailed information about the molecular mechanisms of action of different tocotrienol isoforms in various cancer models and evaluated the potential therapeutic effects of different vitamin E analogues on important cancer hallmarks,such as cellular proliferation,apoptosis,angiogenesis and ***/PubMed and Scopus databases were used to identify recently published articles that investigated the anticancer effects of vitamin E derivatives in various types of cancer in vitro and in vivo along with clinical evidence of adjuvant chemopreventive *** an overview of pre-clinical studies,we describe several completed and ongoing clinical trials that are paving the way for the successful implementation of tocotrienols in cancer chemotherapy.

Application of supervised machine learning to predict the enhanced gas recovery by CO2 injection in shale gas reservoirs

The technique of Enhanced Gas Recovery by CO2injection（CO2-EGR） into shale reservoirs has brought increasing attention in the recent decade. CO2-EGR is a complex geophysical process that is controlled by several parameters of shale properties and engineering design. Nevertheless, more challenges arise when simulating and predicting CO2/CH4displacement within the complex pore systems of shales. Therefore,the petroleum industry is in need of developing a cost-effective tool/approach to evaluate the potential of applying CO2injection to shale reservoirs. In recent years, machine learning applications have gained enormous interest due to their high-speed performance in handling complex data and efficiently solving practical problems. Thus, this work proposes a solution by developing a supervised machine learning（ML） based model to preliminary evaluate CO2-EGR efficiency. Data used for this work was drawn across a wide range of simulation sensitivity studies and experimental investigations. In this work, linear regression and artificial neural networks（ANNs） implementations were considered for predicting the incremental enhanced CH4. Based on the model performance in training and validation sets, our accuracy comparison showed that（ANNs） algorithms gave 15% higher accuracy in predicting the enhanced CH4compared to the linear regression model. To ensure the model is more generalizable, the size of hidden layers of ANNs was adjusted to improve the generalization ability of ANNs model. Among ANNs models presented, ANNs of 100 hidden layer size gave the best predictive performance with the coefficient of determination（R2） of 0.78 compared to the linear regression model with R2of 0.68. Our developed MLbased model presents a powerful, reliable and cost-effective tool which can accurately predict the incremental enhanced CH4by CO2injection in shale gas reservoirs.

The semiotics of humor in cultural trauma:a pilot study on digital methodology concerning the evolution and overcoming of trauma through humor on the example of Rick and Morty

This pilot study on humor in cultural trauma uses innovative digital methodologies in speech recognition and social media analysis via Postman and Python in the Twitter API v2 to propose different forms to gather and analyze empirical data on semiotics and humor to be used in a broader *** given example of humorous instances on the cultural trauma of 9/11 in the fictional sitcom Rick and Morty is limited but corroborated by a second example that is structurally different from the first:humor about 9/11 in stand-up comedy by Louis *** on the data,humor in trauma seems to undergo a 5-phase-typology related to the Kübler-Ross model of grief,which is mended by the(digital)participation of ***,we argue,both shapes the discourse on humor in trauma and overcomes the traumatic effects through humorous discourse.

Comparison of ERA5 turbulent fluxes at the air-sea interface with measurements from a wave-following platform

Turbulent fluxes at the air-sea interface were estimated with data collected in 2011-2020 with a low-profile platform named OCARINA during eight experiments in five regions:2011,2015,and 2016 in the Iroise Sea;2012 in the tropical Atlantic;2014 in the Chilie-Peru upwelling;2017 and 2018 in the Mediterranean Sea,and 2018 and 2020 in *** observations were carried out with moderate winds(2-10 m s^(-1))and average wave heights of 1.5 *** this study,the authors used the fluxes calculated by the bulk method using OCARINA-sampled data as the *** data can validate the fluxes estimated from ERAS reanalysis *** OCARINA and ERA5 data were taken *** do this,the authors established an algorithm to extract the OCARINA data as closely as possible to the reanalysis data in time and *** measurements of the OCARINA platform can conclude on the relevance of the widely used reanalysis data.

With the recent observational evidence in extragalactic astronomy,the interpretation of the nature of quasar redshift continues to be a research *** high redshifts are being detected for extragalactic objects that are presumably very distant and young while also exhibiting properties that are characteristic of a more mature galaxy such as *** to Halton Arp and Geoffrey Burbidge,redshift disparities consist of an intrinsic component and are related to an evolutionary *** observed redshift periodicity at integer multiples of0.089 in log scale and Burbidge observed redshift periodicity at integer multiples of 0.061 in linear *** Singular Value Decomposition based periodicity estimation is known to be superior for noisy data sets,especially when the data contain multiple harmonics and overtones,mainly irregular in nature,we have chosen it to be our primary tool for analysis of the quasar-galaxy pair redshift *** have observed a fundamental periodicity of0.051 with a confidence interval of 95%in linear scale with the site-available Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7(SDSS DR7)quasar-galaxy pair data *** have independently generated quasar-galaxy pair data sets from both 2d F and SDSS and found fundamental periodicities of 0.077 and 0.089,respectively,in log scale with a confidence interval of 95%.
