Stability and transferability assessment of the cotton fiber strength QTL qFS-c7-1 on chromosome A07

Previously we identified a major cotton fiber strength QTL(qFS-c7-1)on chromosome A07 using a multiparent advanced generation intercross(MAGIC)*** assess the stability and transferability of this QTL and its utility in cotton breeding,we made ten new *** populations were developed from crosses between MAGIC recombinant inbred lines,or between cotton cultivars that are different from the MAGIC parents.A total of 2801 F_(2) plants were grown and their fiber quality traits were *** also selected a subset of F_(3) seeds from two populations,and grew F_(3) progeny plots to further evaluate the stability of this *** results showed that the peak of qFS-c7-1 is at 70–72 Mb *** QTL had a major effect on fiber strength explaining 21.9%phenotypic *** effect on other fiber quality attributes such as micronaire,short fiber content,length and uniformity varied between populations,and no effect on fiber elongation was *** QTL effects were stable in the populations analyzed,and in different generations of the same *** SSR and SNP markers near and within the QTL peak reported herein will assist selecting superior fiber quality traits in breeding,with a recommendation that the parental cotton lines should be analyzed using the seven dNA markers within the QTL peak before fully implementing marker assisted selection in a cotton breeding program.

To maximize conversion efficiency,photovoltaic(PV)systems generally operate in the maximum power point tracking(MPPT)***,due to the increasing penetra tion level of PV systems,there is a need for more developed control functions in terms of frequency support services and voltage control to maintain the reliability and stability of the power ***,flexible active power control is a manda tory task for grid-connected PV systems to meet part of the grid ***,a significant number of flexible pow er point tracking(FPPT)algorithms have been introduced in the existing *** purpose of such algorithms is to real ize a cost-effective method to provide grid support functional ities while minimizing the reliance on energy storage *** paper provides a comprehensive overview of grid support functionalities that can be obtained with the FPPT control of PV systems such as frequency support and volt-var *** of these grid support functionalities necessitates PV sys tems to operate under one of the three control strategies,which can be provided with FPPT *** three control strate gies are classified as:①constant power generation control(CP GC),②power reserve control(PRC),and③power ramp rate control(PRRC).A detailed discussion on available FPPT algo rithms for each control strategy is also *** paper can serve as a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art FPPT algorithms that can equip PV systems with various grid support functionalities.

Comparison of ERA5 turbulent fluxes at the air-sea interface with measurements from a wave-following platform

Turbulent fluxes at the air-sea interface were estimated with data collected in 2011-2020 with a low-profile platform named OCARINA during eight experiments in five regions:2011,2015,and 2016 in the Iroise Sea;2012 in the tropical Atlantic;2014 in the Chilie-Peru upwelling;2017 and 2018 in the Mediterranean Sea,and 2018 and 2020 in *** observations were carried out with moderate winds(2-10 m s-1) and average wave heights of 1.5 *** this study,the authors used the fluxes calculated by the bulk method using OCARINA-sampled data as the *** data can validate the fluxes estimated from ERAS reanalysis *** OCARINA and ERA5 data were taken *** do this,the authors established an algorithm to extract the OCARINA data as closely as possible to the reanalysis data in time and *** measurements of the OCARINA platform can conclude on the relevance of the widely used reanalysis data.

Marine heatwaves(MHWs)caused by anthropogenic climate change are becoming a key driver of change at the ecosystem *** conditions experienced by marine organisms across their distribution,particularly towards the equator,are likely to approach their physiological limits,resulting in extensive mortality and subsequent changes at the population *** at the margins of their species’distribution are thought to be more sensitive to climate-induced environmental pressures than central populations,but our understanding of variability in fitness-related physiological traits in trailing versus leading-edge populations is *** a laboratory simulation study,we tested whether two leading(Iceland)and two trailing(Spain)peripheral populations of the intertidal macroalga Corallina officinalis display different levels of maximum potential quantum efficiency(Fv/Fm)resilience to current and future winter MHWs *** study revealed that ongoing and future local winter MHWs will not negatively affect leading-edge populations of ***,which exhibited stable photosynthetic efficiency throughout the *** edge populations showed a positive though non-significant trend in photosynthetic efficiency throughout winter MHWs *** and equatorward populations did not produce significantly different results,with winter MHWs having no negative affect on Fv/Fm of either ***,we found no long-term regional or population-level influence of a winter MHWs on this species’photosynthetic ***,we found no statistically significant difference in thermal stress responses between leading and trailing ***,*** showed a trend towards higher stress responses in southern than northern *** responses rest on a variety of local population traits,they are difficult to predict based solely on thermal pressures.

Biodegradable implants are critical for regenerative orthopaedic procedures,but they may suffer from too fast corrosion in human-body *** necessitates the synthesis of a suitable coating that may improve the corrosion resistance of these implants without compromising their mechanical *** this study,an AZ91 magnesium alloy,as a representative for a biodegradable Mg implant material,was modified with a thin reduced graphene oxide(RGO)-calcium carbonate(CaCO_(3))composite *** analytical and in-vitro electrochemical characterization reveals that this coating significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical integrity,and thus has the potential to greatly extend the related application field.

Inpatient management of iron deficiency anemia in pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease: A single center experience

BACKGROUNd Screening for iron deficiency anemia(IdA)is important in managing pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBd).Concerns related to adverse reactions may contribute to a reluctance to prescribe intravenous(IV)iron to treat IdA in this *** To track the efficacy and safety of IV iron therapy in treating IdA in pediatric IBd patients admitted to our *** A longitudinal observational cohort study was performed on 236 consecutive pediatric patients admitted to our tertiary IBd care center between September 2017 and december 2019.92 patients met study criteria for IdA,of which 57 received IV iron,17 received oral iron,and 18 were discharged prior to receiving iron *** Patients treated with IV iron during their hospitalization experienced a significant increase of 1.9(±0.2)g/dL in mean(±SE)hemoglobin(Hb)concentration by the first ambulatory follow-up,compared to patients who received oral iron 0.8(±0.3)g/dL or no iron 0.8(±0.3)g/dL(P=0.03).One out of 57(1.8%)patients that received IV iron therapy experienced an adverse *** Our findings demonstrate that treatment with IV iron therapy is safe and efficacious in improving Hb and iron levels in pediatric patients with IdA and active IBd.

With the recent observational evidence in extragalactic astronomy,the interpretation of the nature of quasar redshift continues to be a research *** high redshifts are being detected for extragalactic objects that are presumably very distant and young while also exhibiting properties that are characteristic of a more mature galaxy such as *** to Halton Arp and Geoffrey Burbidge,redshift disparities consist of an intrinsic component and are related to an evolutionary *** observed redshift periodicity at integer multiples of0.089 in log scale and Burbidge observed redshift periodicity at integer multiples of 0.061 in linear *** Singular Value decomposition based periodicity estimation is known to be superior for noisy data sets,especially when the data contain multiple harmonics and overtones,mainly irregular in nature,we have chosen it to be our primary tool for analysis of the quasar-galaxy pair redshift *** have observed a fundamental periodicity of0.051 with a confidence interval of 95%in linear scale with the site-available Sloan digital Sky Survey data Release 7(SdSS dR7)quasar-galaxy pair data *** have independently generated quasar-galaxy pair data sets from both 2d F and SdSS and found fundamental periodicities of 0.077 and 0.089,respectively,in log scale with a confidence interval of 95%.

Background:We examined the comparative associations between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLd)and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLd)definitions with risk of developing chronic kidney disease(CKd)and abnormal ***:We conducted a cohort study of 214,145 Korean adults with normal kidney function at baseline who underwent liver *** were further subdivided into no steatotic liver disease(no-SLd),NAFLd-only,MASLd-only,both NAFLd and MASLd,and SLd not categorized as NAFLd or MASLd *** proportional hazards models were used to analyze the risk of incident CKd and ***:Compared with either the no-NAFLd or no-MASLd groups,the NAFLd and MASLd groups were associated with a higher risk of incident CKd(NAFLd:adjusted hazard ratio(HR),1.18[95%CI,1.01-1.38];MASLd:adjusted HR,1.21[95%CI,1.04-1.39]).Among the five subgroups,both NAFLd and MASLd group had the strongest association with risk of incident CKd(adjusted HR,1.21[95%CI,1.04-1.42]).The MASLd-only group had the strongest association with incident abnormal albuminuria,with an adjusted HR comparable to that of the both NAFLd and MASLd group(adjusted HR 1.96[95%CI,1.44-2.67]for the MASLd-only,and adjusted HR 1.98[95%CI,1.58-2.49]for the both NAFLd and MASLd group versus the no-SLd group).The NAFLd-only group was not independently associated with risk of CKd or abnormal ***:These findings suggest that MASLd definition identifies individuals at high risk of developing incident CKd or abnormal albuminuria better than NAFLd definition.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2d HOIPs)are capable of forming hybrid light-matter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–Ps)when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical *** the case of 2d HOIPs,they can self-hybridize into E–Ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIP crystals that form a resonant optical cavity with the ***,the fundamental properties of these self-hybridized E–Ps in 2d HOIPs,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,remain ***,we demonstrate that>0.5µm thick 2d HOIP crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting multiple-orders of self-hybridized E–P *** E–Ps have high Q factors(>100)and modulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and *** varying excitation energy and ultrafast measurements,we also confirm energy transfer from higher energy E–Ps to lower energy E–***,we also demonstrate that E–Ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at *** findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–Ps opening new opportunities towards their manipulation for polaritonic devices.
