Genetic variation is a key factor influencing cytokine production capacity,but which genetic loci regulate cytokine production before and after vaccination,particularly in African population is ***,we aimed to identify single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)controlling cytokine responses after microbial stimulation in infants of West-African ancestry,comprising of low-birth-weight neonates randomized to bacillus Calmette-Gue rin(BCG)vaccine-at-birth or to the usual delayed ***-wide cytokine cytokine quantitative trait loci(cQTL)mapping revealed 12 independent loci,of which the LINC01082-LINC00917 locus influenced more than half of the cytokine-stimulation pairs ***,nine distinct cQTLs were found among infants randomized to *** validation confirmed that several complement genes affect cytokine response after BCG *** observed a limited overlap of common cQTLs between the West-African infants and cohorts of Western European *** data reveal strong population-specific genetic effects on cytokine production and may indicate new opportunities for therapeutic intervention and vaccine development in African populations.

Valuable Beyond Vulnerable: A Scoping Review on the Contributions of Older Forced Migrants in Post-migration Recovery

During times of crisis, including pandemics, climate change, and forced migration, much of the discourse in ageing research and intervention centers on the vulnerabilities of older adults. Unfortunately, the valuable contributions of older adults to post-disaster recovery and healing are often overlooked and undervalued. Our aim in this scoping review is to shed light on the critical contributions of older forced migrants to post-migration recovery. We set the scene by introducing the two significant global demographic changes of the twenty-first century: forced migration and ageing. We provide a discourse on older forced migrants, ageing in situations of forced migration, and some of the challenges faced by older forced migrants. We then present some of the substantial roles of older forced migrants in post-migration recovery, including building resilience, contributing to culture and language transfer, providing emotional support, offering mentorship and leadership, participating in community building, and fostering social integration. We close by highlighting some of the lessons that can be drawn from understanding the unique roles played by older adults in post-forced migration recovery and the key actions necessary to promote these roles.

To the Editor:Biliary stricture formation at the bilioenteric anastomosis is an infrequent complication(2%-3%)after pancreaticoduodenectomy;the average presentation is within 13-14 months(range from 1 month to 9 years)after surgery[1,2].While the etiology is unknown,development of biliary stricture has shown to be more likely if a bile leak occurs in the postoperative period[3,4]and with younger patients[5].

The bumpy road of purinergic inhibitors to clinical application in immune-mediated diseases

Purinergic signaling plays important roles throughout the body in the regulation of organ functions during and following the disruption of homeostasis. This is also reflected by the widespread expression of two families of purinergic receptors(P1 and P2) with numerous subtypes. In the last few decades, there has been increasing evidence that purinergic signaling plays an important role in the regulation of immune functions. Mainly, signals mediated by P2 receptors have been shown to contribute to immune system-mediated pathologies. Thus, interference with P2 receptors may be a promising strategy for the modulation of immune responses. Although only a few clinical studies have been conducted in isolated entities with limited success, preclinical work suggests that the use of P2 receptor inhibitors may bear some promise in various autoimmune diseases. Despite the association of P2 receptors with several disorders from this field, the use of P2 receptor antagonists in clinical therapy is still very scarce. In this narrative review, we briefly review the involvement of the purinergic system in immunological responses and clinical studies on the effect of purinergic inhibition on autoimmune processes. We then open the aperture a bit and show some preclinical studies demonstrating a potential effect of purinergic blockade on autoimmune events. Using suramin, a non-specific purinergic inhibitor, as an example, we further show that off-target effects could be responsible for observed effects in immunological settings, which may have interesting implications. Overall, we believe that it is worthwhile to further investigate this hitherto underexplored area.

人际关系是否融洽,口语交际能力至关重要。如何提升学生的口语表达能力,是汉语作为第二语言教学中要思考的重要问题之一。游戏教学法,寓教于乐,将其应用于汉语口语课堂,可以激发学生学习的兴趣。论文将理论与实践相结合,以作者在马来西亚诗巫技职学院所执教的2022级四年级烹饪班为研究对象,运用游戏教学法设计了具体的教学方案,并以《汉语》I中第四课的内容为基础进行了教学实践。通过调查问卷和口语测试的方法,对游戏教学法在教学中的效果进行了评估。研究结果表明,游戏教学法在激发学习兴趣、促进同学间关系融洽、丰富教学形式等方面具有显著的帮助效果。这一方法不仅增强了课堂互动,还为汉语教学提供了新思路,对推广汉语作为第二语言教学具有重要价值。但是经过教学实践也发现其应用过程中容易出现游戏目标模糊、时长不易掌控、及游戏类型选择不当等各种问题。针对上述问题,从游戏设计、游戏实施和口语测试三个阶段提出一些建议。教师必须要有精准的时间规划,以确保教学内容能在规定的时间内顺利完成,这包括提前制定游戏规则,并在课堂上清晰地解释,从而节省时间并确保学生能够全面理解游戏的要求和规则。除此之外,教师在实行游戏教学法时应考虑教学目标和内容,这是教师设计游戏时应该特别注意的关键点。这意味着教师需要在设计游戏时明确教学目标,并确保游戏的每个环节都与这些目标紧密相关,使学生在游戏过程中能够获得足够的语言输入和实践机会,并最终达到教学目标。最后,希望此研究可以为职业院校的汉语口语教学提供参考。

Jasmonates(JAs),a class of lipid-derived stress hormones,play a crucial role across an array of plant physiological processes and stress *** JA signaling is thought to rely predominantly on the degradation of specific JAZ proteins by SCF^(COI1),it remains unclear whether other pathways are involved in the regulation of JAZ protein ***,we report that PUB22,a plant U-box type E3 ubiquitin ligase,plays a critical role in the regulation of plant resistance against Helicoverpa armigera and other JA responses in *** COI1 physically interacts with JAZ1/2/5/7,PUB22 physically interacts with JAZ1/3/4/***22 ubiquitinates JAZ4 to promote its degradation via the 26S proteasome ***,we observed that pub22 mutants showreduced resistance to ***,whereas jaz4 single mutants and jaz1 jaz3 jaz4 jaz6 quadruple mutants have enhanced *** hypersensitivity of pub22 mutants to herbivores could be partially rescued by JAZ4 ***,we found that expression of PUB22 can be transcriptionally activated by MYC2,thus forming a positive feedback circuit in JA *** noticed that the PUB22-JAZ4 module also regulates other JA responses,including defense against ***,inhibition of root elongation,and anthocyanin *** together,these results indicate that PUB22 plays a crucial role in plant growth and defense responses,together with COI1-regulated JA signaling,by targeting specific JAZs.
