Background:Xanthogranulom.tous cholecystitis(XGC)is a rare benign chronic inflam.atory disease of the gallbladder that often presents as cholecystitis and m.st of the tim.s requires surgical *** addition,distinguishing XGC from.gallbladder cancer preoperatively is still a *** aim.of the present system.tic review was to outline the clinical presentation and surgical approach of *** sources:The present system.tic review was designed using the PRISm. and Am.TAR *** searched m.DLINE,Scopus,***,Em.ASE,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL)and Google Scholar databases from.inception until June ***:The laparoscopic cholecystectom. rate(34%)was alm.st equal to the open cholecystectom. rate(47%)for *** im.ortant conversion rate(35%)was observed as *** XGC cases treated by surgery were associated with low m.rtality(0.3%),lim.ted intraoperative blood loss(58-270 m.L),low com.lication rates(2%–6%),along with extended operative tim.(82.6–120 m.nutes for laparoscopic and 59.6–240 m.nutes for open cholecystectom.)and hospital stay(3–9 days after laparoscopic and 8.3–18 days after open cholecystectom.).Intraoperative findings during cholecystectom.es for XGC included em.yem. or m.rizzi *** addition,com.lex surgical procedures,like wedge hepatic resections and bile duct excision were required during operations for ***:XGC seem.d to be a rare,benign inflam.atory disease that presents sim.lar features as gallbladder *** m.rtality and com.lication rates of XGC were low,despite the com.lex surgical procedures that m.ght be required in som. cases.

Tem.oral and spectral contributions to m.sical instrum.nt identification and discrim.nation am.ng cochlear im.lant users

Objective:To investigate the contributions of envelope and fine-structure to the perception of tim.re by cochlear im.lant (CI) users as com.ared to norm.l hearing (NH) lis-teners. m.thods: This was a prospective cohort com.arison study. Norm.l hearing and cochlear im.lant patients were tested. Three experim.nts were perform.d in sound field using m.sical notes altered to affect the characteristic pitch of an instrum.nt and the acoustic envelope. Experim.nt 1 assessed the ability to identify the instrum.nt playing each note, while experi-m.nts 2 and 3 assessed the ability to discrim.nate the different stim.li. Results:Norm.l hearing subjects perform.d better than CI subjects in all instrum.nt identifi-cation tasks, reaching statistical significance for 4 of 5 stim.lus conditions. Within the CI pop-ulation, acoustic envelope m.difications did not significantly affect instrum.nt identification or discrim.nation. With envelope and pitch cues rem.ved, fine structure discrim.nation perfor-m.nce was sim.lar between norm.l hearing and CI users for the m.jority of conditions, but som. specific instrum.nt com.arisons were significantly m.re challenging for CI users. Conclusions:Cochlear im.lant users perform.significantly worse than norm.l hearing listeners on tasks of instrum.nt identification. However, cochlear im.lant listeners can discrim.nate differences in envelope and som. fine structure com.onents of m.sical instrum.nt sounds as well as norm.l hearing listeners. The results indicated that certain fine structure cues are im.ortant for cochlear im.lant users to m.ke discrim.nation judgm.nts, and therefore m.y affect interpretation toward associating with a specific instrum.nt for identification.

Detection of Antibodies in Serum.Specim.ns from.Dogs with Blastom.cosis with Lysate Antigens Prepared from.Four <i>Blastom.ces derm.titidis</i>Dog Isolates: Individual Antigens vs Antigen Com.inations

Blastom.cosis, the system.c fungal infection of hum.ns and anim.ls, has presented a diagnostic challenge to clinicians and laboratory personnel for m.ny years. Our laboratory has been concentrating on attem.ting to develop antigenic reagents from.the yeast phase of various isolates of Blastom.ces derm.titidis and to evaluate these lysate antigens with regard to antibody detection in blastom.cosis. The aim.of this current study was to evaluate yeast phase antigens prepared from.four dog isolates of B. derm.titidis and to evaluate their efficacy, when used individually or in com.ination, for antibody detection in sera from.dogs with blastom.cosis. m.an absorbance values using the ELISA to assay 24 serum.specim.ns (Trial 1) ranged from.0.588 with an individual lysate antigen to 0.992 when three reagents were com.ined. Eight of the lysates exhibited m.an absorbance values ranging from.0.992 to 0.915 with 7 out of 8 being lysate antigen com.inations. m.an absorbance values with the other 6 lysates ranged from.0.899 to 0.588. In Trial 2, the 6 m.st sensitive reagents from.Trial 1 were assayed against 10 highly reactive dog sera. The results of Trial 2 showed that 5 antigen com.inations detected antibody to a greater degree than the individual lysate antigen. Com.inations of northern and southern antigens were able to detect antibody in serum.specim.ns from.either of these geographical regions. Com.arative studies are continuing to further evaluate various lysate antigen com.inations for antibody detection in blastom.cosis.

Sleep,health behaviors,and behavioral interventions:Reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease in adults

Num.rous health behaviors, including physical activity,diet, sm.king, and sleep, play a m.jor role in preventing the developm.nt and progression of cardiovascular disease(CVD). Am.ng these behaviors, sleep m.y play a pivotal role, yet it has been studied som.what less than other behaviors and there have been few well-designed sleep intervention studies targeting CVD. Furtherm.re, despite the fact that these behaviors are often interrelated, interventions tend to focus on changing one health behavior rather than concurrently intervening on m.ltiple behaviors. Psychological constructs from.depression to positive affect m.y also have a m.jor effect on these health behaviors and ultim.tely on CVD. In this review, we sum.arize the existing literature on the im.act of sleep and other cardiac health behaviors on CVD onset and prognosis. We also describe interventions that m.y prom.te these behaviors, from.established interventions such as m.tivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy, to m.re novel approaches focused on m.ndfulness and other positive psychological constructs. Finally, we outline populationhealth-level care m.nagem.nt approaches for patients with psychiatric conditions(e.g., depression) that m.y im.act cardiac health, and discuss their potential utility in im.roving m.ntal health, prom.ting health behaviors, and reducing CVD-related risk. m.ch work is still needed to better understand how sleep and other health behaviors m.y uniquely contribute to CVD risk, and additional high-quality studies of interventions designed to m.dify cardiac health behaviors are required to im.rove cardiovascular health in individuals and the population at large.

Iodine ion is one of the m.st indispensable anions in living organism.,particularly being an im.ortant substance for the synthesis of thyroid *** is a yellow-orange polyphenol com.ound derived from.the rhizom. of Curcum. longa L.,which has been com.only used as a spice and natural coloring agent,food additives,cosm.tics as well as Chinese ***,excess curcum.n m.y cause DNA inactivation,lead to a decrease in intracellular ATP levels,and trigger the tissue ***,quantitative detection of iodine and curcum.n is of great significance in the fields of food and life ***,we develop nitrogen-doped fluorescent carbon dots(NCDs)as a m.lti-m.chanism.detection for iodide and curcum.n in actual com.lex biological and food sam.les,which was prepared by a one-step solid-phase synthesis using tartaric acid and urea as precursors without adding any other *** assem.led NCDs-Hg^(2+) fluorescence-enhanced sensor for the quantitative detection of I^(-) was established based on a fluorescence“turn-off-on”m.chanism.in a linear range of 0.3-15μm.with a detection lim.t of 69.4 nm.and successfully quantified trace am.unts of I^(-) in water sam.les and urine ***,the as-synthesized NCDs also can be used as a fluorescent quenched sensor for curcum.n detection based on the synergistic internal filtration effect(IFE)and static quenching,achieving a good linear range of 0.1-20μm.with a satisfactory detection lim.t of 29.8 *** results indicate that carbon dots are potential sensing m.terials for iodine and curcum.n detection for the good of our health.

Active Peptides and m.tifs within Collagen and Other ECm.Proteins

Collagens are the m.st abundant proteins in m.m.als and form.an extracellular m.trix (ECm. with other com.onents as the structural support of m.scle, skin, corneas and blood vessels etc. Other than providing structural support, the ECm.exhibits active com.unication with cells and influences m.ny cellular processes including m.gration, wound healing, differentiation and cancer m.tastasis. Though collagen proteins contain highly repetitive prim.ry sequences and defined tertiary structures, m.re and m.re studies have shown that m.ny short peptides/m.tifs within collagen proteins play key roles in various biological processes. These short sequences are effective within triple helical structures or independently as stand-alone m.lecules resulting from.proteolytic degradation. Besides endogenous ECm.derived peptides, m.ny m.re functional peptides have been produced by tissue processing, chem.cal synthesis, and recom.inant protein production. In this review, we sum.arize different peptides/m.tifs identified in collagen and other ECm.proteins and discuss their potential for m.dical, personal care, and cosm.tics applications.
