Recent studies reveal a critical role of tumor cell-released extracellular vesicles(EVs)in pancreatic cancer(PC)***,driver genes that direct EV function,the EV-recipient cells,and their cellular response to EV uptake remain to be ***,we studied the role of Bcl-2-associated-anthanogene 6(BAG6),a regulator of EV biogenesis for cancer *** used a Cre recombinase/LoxP-based reporter system in combination with single-cell RNA sequencing to monitor in vivo EV uptake and tumor microenvironment(TME)changes in mouse models for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)in a Bag6 pro-or deficient *** vivo data were validated using mouse and human organoids and patient *** data demonstrated that Bag6-deficient subcutaneous and orthotopic PDAC tumors accelerated tumor growth dependent on EV ***,this was attributed to mast cell(MC)activation via EV-associated *** MCs promoted tumor cell proliferation and altered the composition of the TME affecting fibroblast polarization and immune cell *** cell proliferation and fibroblast polarization were mediated via the MC secretome containing high levels of PDGF and *** with high BAG6 gene expression and high protein plasma level have a longer overall survival indicating clinical *** current study revealed a so far unknown tumor-suppressing activity of BAG6 in ***6-deficiency allowed the release of EV-associated IL33 which modulate the TME via MC activation promoting aggressive tumor *** depletion using imatinib diminished tumor growth providing a scientific rationale to consider imatinib for patients stratified with low BAG6 expression and high MC infiltration.

Reacting particle systems play an important role in many industrial applications,for example biomass drying or the manufacturing of *** numerical modeling and simulation of such systems is therefore of great importance for an efficient,reliable,and environmentally sustainable operation of the *** complex thermodynamical,chemical,and flow processes that take place in the particles are a particular challenge in a ***,typically a large number of particles is involved,rendering an explicit treatment of individual ones impossible in a reactor-level *** approach for overcoming this challenge is to compute effective,physical parameters from single-particle,high-resolution *** can be combined with model reduction methods if the dynamical behaviour of particles must be *** network models with their unrivaled resolution have thereby been used successfully as high-resolution models,for instance to obtain the macroscopic diffusion coeffcient of *** parameter identification and model reduction have recently gained new impetus by the dramatic progress made in machine learning in the last *** report results on the use of neural networks for parameter identification and model reduction based on three-dimensional pore network models(PNM).We believe that our results provide a powerful complement to existing methodologies for reactor-level simulations with many thermally-thick particles.

Experimental and numerical investigation to elucidate the fluid flow through packed beds with structured particle packings

The present paper presents an experimental and numerical investigation of the dispersion of the gaseous jet flow and co-flow for the simple unit cell(SUC)and body-centred cubic(BCC)configuration of particles in packed *** experimental setup is built in such a way that suitable and simplified boundary conditions are imposed for the corresponding numerical framework,so the simulations can be done under very similar conditions as the ***,a porous plate is used for the co-flow to achieve the uniform velocity and the fully developed flow is ensured for the jet *** SUC and BCC particle beds consist of 3D-printed spheres,and the non-isotropy near the walls is mostly eliminated by placing half-spheres at the channel *** flow velocities are analysed directly at the exit of the particle bed for both beds over 36 pores for the SUC configuration and 60 pores for the BCC configuration,for particle Reynolds numbers of 200,300,and *** particle image velocimetry is experimentally arranged in such a way that the velocities over the entire region at the exit of the packed bed are obtained *** numerical method consists of a state-of-the-art immersed boundary method with adaptive mesh *** paper presents the pore jet structure and velocity field exiting from each pore for the SUC and BCC packed particle *** numerical and experimental studies show a good agreement for the SUC configuration for all flow *** the BCC configuration,some differences can be observed in the pore jet flow structure between the simulations and the experiments,but the general flow velocity distribution shows a good overall *** axial velocity is generally higher for the pores located near the centre of the packed bed than for the pores near the *** addition,the axial velocities are observed to increase near the peripheral pores of the packed *** behaviour is predominant for the BCC configuration as compared to t

All-cis-hexafluoro-and all-cis-pentafluoro-cyclohexane(PFCH)derivatives are new kinds of materials,the structures and properties of which are dominated by the highly dipolar Janus-face ***,we report on the effects of integrating the PFCH groups into self-assembled monolayers(SAMs)of alkanethiolates on Au(111).Monolayers with an odd(eleven)and even(twelve)number of methylene groups were characterized in detail by several complementary experimental tools,supported by theoretical ***,all the data show a high similarity of both kinds of monolayers,nearly lacking the typically observed odd-even *** new monolayers have a packing density about 1/3 lower than that of non-substituted alkanethiolate monolayers,caused by the bulkiness of the PFCH *** orientations of the PFCH groups and the alkyl chains could be determined independently,suggesting a conformation similar to the one found in the solid state structure of an analogous *** in the SAMs the PFCH groups are slightly tilted away from the surface normal with the axial fluorine atoms pointing downwards,most of the dipole moments of the group remain oriented parallel to the surface,which is a unique feature for a SAM *** consequences are much lower water contact angles compared to other partly fluorinated SAMs as well as rather moderate work function *** interaction between the terminal PFCH moieties results in an enhanced stability of the PFCH-decorated SAMs toward exchange reaction with potential molecular substituents in spite of the lower packing density of these films.

This study focuses on the landscape dynamics of the savannahs’ region in the far north of Togo. Based on a literature review and satellite images analysis using GIS and remote sensing, the study aims to ascertain the effects of anthropogenic threats on the forest coverage of the Savannahs’ Region between 1984 to 2020. The objective is to clarify the dynamics of land use in the region from 1984 to 2000 and from 2000 to 2020. The findings indicate a significant decline in forest coverage within the region from 1984 to 2020, a trend attributed to land use patterns. Dry forests in the Savannah region are largely converted to farmlands, housing, dry savannahs or agroforestry parks, leading to a steady reduction in forest areas.
